An Open Letter to CCP from Current and Former CSM Members on the "Prospector Pack"

What did we miss here ? Brisc could’ve had legal leverage over CCP ? How ? When ?

When they banned him for no reason . . . apparently.

No it wasn’t. The Fiction Team wrote that apology.

Which should tell you what Hilmar considered it.

Two years ago, Brisc was kicked off the CSM and banned because someone in a hostile alliance told another CSM that Brisc was leaking and effectively manipulating market value on faction supers. The guy who started the rumor was intentionally just being a lying jerk, and the other CSM was obligated by the terms of the CSM to report it. CCP then utterly failed to do any due diligence, took action, and (critically) issued a public statement accusing Brisc (whose real name, face, and occupation as a lawyer and lobbyist are well-documented parts of his EVE/CSM identity) of (among other things) violating the NDA.

To make that short: they publicly accused a lawyer of doing something that’d get him disbarred, without a single shred of evidence. Because it wasn’t true. Brisc kept his cool, talked with CCP, and things got straightened out when CCP decided to actually do an investigation into the accusations and found… ‘oh, this well-known troll and jerk is being a trollish jerk’. CCP apologized and reversed the ban, but he sat out the remainder of that term and the next, before deciding he was willing to do the CSM again.

Trust me, I got what I wanted from them.

I’m not a vindictive person - in my line of work you can’t afford to be. The guy who hates you one day is your friend and supporter the next.

But I like to think that what happened does give me a unique position when dealing with folks, and one that I am trying to use for the benefit of the game.

Arrendis covered most of it, but it wasn’t just Brisc IIRC that got banned, but also Pando and Shines, too. It was no small action taken by CCP without doing basic investigation and fact verification.

You are not paying them money. As to why you are still here, one can only speculate.

Tbh I think you did not understand how it works with mineral prices.
The price is set by needs by player and quantitys from other sources for Eg. Reprocessing rat loot besides the ore.
And the one that did rework all building was ccp therefore the rootcourse is not the players that did react to the changes if you look deeper into it, it’s the changes of ccp that these are not needed enough.
Besides it was not the players that created the unbalance within the ores too. Before scarcity the ores also contained a lot of other minerals besides mega and zydrin which buffered the low value of zydrin and mega and made it worth it.
Now without that only junk is left which sadly I get in the same quantity with reprocessing ratting loot in the same time frame as mining it.
Which clearly beat bistot and arkonor as source.

As an actual new player I agree with Remi. The game is incredibly frustrating for noobs. Bear in mind that every noob could be doing something else. The foremost question in every noob’s mind is not how this or that works…but ‘why am I here ?’ It takes waaaaaay too long to ‘get anywhere’ in Eve. Players have to have a sense of getting somewhere, and fast…or they get bored.

What people’s experience was like 10 or 20 years ago is irrelevant. Loads of Elder Scrolls vets complained when the complex and clunky system in Morrowind was ‘dumbed down’ for Oblivion…yet the new game was every bit as hard, just not as cumbersome. And that is all a lot of people are asking for with Eve. If the skills queue gets shortened and people cope just fine…well then there wasn’t a problem with shortening it in the first place. If the skills queue gets shortened and people cannot cope…the player ( rather than the system ) has the option of waiting longer. A win either way !

I’m sure you did. What I’m saying is you were in a unique position to benefit the userbase Not just the game.

When people talk about your case, everything gets blown up/overload with 50 tons of detailed finger pointing.

The Simple bottom line is: they hatched A Plan to Grab a Headline… and the whole thing blew up in their face.

Corporations are a lot smarter now. They just say “So-and-so was removed after an internal investigation.” If you don’t provide any details, it can’t be libel.

for every one of you that quits, i make a new account and pay for omega. Those of us that want to see eve last will always outperform those of you that want to see it dead.

I have to respectfully disagree on that one. If we consider your spectrum, Eve falls in the middle, green section because in theory everything you can buy with Plex can be obtained in game. However, when it comes to who it empowers? first it empowers the greedy stakeholders and Perl Abyss , a company known for microtransactions. second, it empowers the 1% extremely wealthy (ISK wise) players who can afford buying plex like peanuts and spawn omega accounts like there is no tomorrow. Eve multiboxing is a malignant cancer because it was allowed to mutate into an uncontrollable monstrosity. Every “that which has no life” player can now multibox with relative ease due to plex which is def a MASSIVE advantage, especially if you are a miner or an industrialist with alts like an ant colony. third, it empowers the RL rich players who can afford spending thousands of dollars on PLEX and easily bypass the skill cap required to pilot ships or perform certain functions with a huge advantage. So for the 99% of players who have life beyond Eve or don’t have the financials to buy PLEX , the introduction of PLEX and skill injectors ruined the experience and turned it into a game where buying PLEX is perceived as required in order to become even remotely competitive.

Rumor mongering.

Edit: probably.

Because it’s a passive aggressive clown post.

It’s not a rumor, it’s a fact that CCP manipulates the market. They admit it.

It’s not CCP doing it, it’s the whole gaming industry and the free to play model.
The box can’t be shut now, just adapt and find a play style within it, or don’t play the game anymore. Write it off like and old love and keep a screenshot of your toon before you biomass it.

I love the subscription model games over FTP if they’re balanced. This game is so far from balanced, it can never find it’s way back. Yet, it’s still sort of fun until a better space game roles out that is actually real and not just a virtual spaceship store.

Before you said this, I just thought you were poorly informed and confused. Now I see you’re a liar and a troll.

It’s time for a massive shakeup of the leadership team over at CCP. I wish we could call for a vote of no confidence and chase these destructive people OUT.
