Ganking noobies and enjoying, is perfectly fine. Itâs a game where people can explore that aspect of their psyche.
This weird idea that anti-gankers spew that somehow what I do in game is represented of what I do in RL. Itâs utter nonsense.
In game, I would blow up your venture in a moments notice. But I wouldnât ever dream of taking a hammer to someoneâs car.
I would hold someoneâs ship/pod ransom, and/or sell a mining permit, but if I found a wallet full of cash and credit cards, I would turn it in to my local constabulary, in full.
Are there psychos that play this game just to harass people? Sure. But I think those people are such a small minority that they donât actually represent the rest of the âcontentâ creator community.
And yes. That is my motivation. Playing a bad guy gives people someone to fight. Someone to rise up against. Someone to talk about. Someone to smack talk.
Itâs because they take it as a personal attack. They cannot distinguish between acts done in a fantasy setting and real life.
For example, they probably think that Gary Oldman is a tyrannical industrialist hell bent on bringing the end of the universe as we know it, in real life, because he acted as one in a movie.
Now they may say, in a movie, he wasnât hurting anyone in RL, so itâs not comparable.
To which my rebuttal is, Iâm not hurting anyone in RL either by blowing up an imaginary pixilated spaceships.
Yes but, they may say, youâre actively causing psychological harm by blowing up those pixilated spaceships!
But then, so was Gary Oldmen when he turned into a mutant space bug and tormented Will Robinson, all those kids watching that show and the nightmares they had to endure.
The point is, if you are investing so much emotional energy into a fantasy world/game that some act of aggression in that fantasy setting sets you off in real life, itâs you that has the problem. Youâre the one that cannot delineate fantasy from reality and you shouldnât be playing these kinds of games until youâve worked out your own emotional issues.
You make a good point that I donât think gets enough airtime: if an actor plays a role that upsets somebody who watches them, then that is a form of violence. Unconscionable.
Now, Im not saying that there are people out there who get a thrill off of griefing folks. And I feel really sorry for them.
Hurt people, hurt people. And they they take their hurts out on others in a game. But you only give a person as much power over you as you allow.
So if someone is legitimately griefing you, you hold the ultimate weapon. Donât let them bother you. Donât rise to the attack. They hate that. Itâs the worst thing to them when they realize they canât wreck your day, just because they are miserable. They will doubledown and keep at it and once they realize that canât do a darned thing to you, they move on.
We are aware that this remains a contextual ad that new players who complete the mining NPE and start the mining agents will get. We donât like it, but at least itâs not being advertised to everyone and available for sale to everyone.
Can you ask your contacts at CCP, if this âpackâ still includes this horrible fitting? Why does this pack include a Retriever and not a Procurer?
Thanks
Yes, the pack has the same fitting. No idea why itâs so bad. My understanding is that the Retriever was the next ship in the line up from a mining frigate, and since thereâs no equivalent mining destroyer, they went with the Retriever.
I honestly cannot for the life of me believe the decision to put the retriever in there over the procurer was one made in good faith. CCP knows ganking is a thing. They know the retriever and covetor are still a little flimsy(though FAR better off than what Fozzie did to them sure). Even if the retrieverâs hull bonuses make it a better miner in terms of yield, the decision to give it such an abysmal fit and put it in a âhey, drop a 20 and hereâs a way you can win fasterâ add⌠itâs sick. CCP also kinda messed up the âprogressionâ tree for mining when they chose to try and equalize the three barges, instead of it being procurer > Reti > Covetor, but that was years ago.
I still donât agree with this pack existing at all, but if CCP is dead set on doing it, swap the retriever out for the procurer with at least a half decent fit on it. Itâs a far more forgiving ship, will still mine well enough, and has a chance of surviving the moment a newbro jumps out of the starter system. What theyâre doing now is predatory.
Why does this pack include a retriever and not a GOLDEN RORQUAL MINING TITAN ORCASTAR. CCP knows ganking is a thing. They know that all miners are sad helpless pathetic little carebears that any no skill griefer can instablap. Itâs just sick that CCP would give anyone a ship with less than ten eighty trillion hitpoints. Itâs just totally messsed up and proof that CCP is a PREDATORY CORPORATION hellbent on taking advantage of innocent miners who just want to play a PvP game without any risk of PvP.
Iâm disgusted that the retriever exists, itâs just a disgrace that CCP released this DEATH TRAP, and all miner ships should be upgraded with a FREE permainvulnerability IDDQD core. Miners deserve to play a PvP game without PvP griefers!!!11!
