Angry Mustache for CSM 20

Hello Again, Again

I am Angry Mustache, running for election to CSM 20. The reasons for doing so are very similar to why I ran for CSM 17 and CSM 18, to try and help CCP improve the industry experience, and maintain/improve the in-game economy to better facilitate other areas of gameplay.

So why should I vote for Angry Mustache?

I consider my terms on CSM 17/18 to be fairly successful in terms of proposing changes by offering data-driven analysis into issues, and a number of them have been implemented into the game despite lack of personal gravitas.

From CSM 17

From CSM 18

  • Consolidating Capital Component build materials
  • Removing hulls from LP stores (in collaboration with Oz)
  • Changing Pirate ship blueprints to use LP-derived resonators
  • Increasing resource availability from initial Equinox release (Asteroid ores, Morphite)
  • Reducing cost of Capital guns

Certain other matters of concern were addressed after the end of the CSM 18 term (research costs).

The overall industry/economic situation is in a much better spot since 2022, but there still remains may pain points that be resolved and improvements that can be made.

Eve Story

I joined EVE relatively casually in 2012 and played on and off until 2016, when I took an extended break. The pandemic brought me back into EVE in a more serious manner, and with additional experience from my real life work, combined with being wretchedly space-poor, began my deeper interest in EVE industry/economics.

I am happy to see Angry running again; We didn’t always agree on what solutions were desirable (especially with Pochven), but he made data-driven analysis accessible to the masses, and is 100% someone you should vote for.

Angry is an exemplary CSM. Always prepared, dedicated and unflappable - CSM needs Angry. Couple him with OZ, this is the dreamteam for data, industry and economy.

Hello Angry Mustache, first of all good luck with your campaign :flexed_biceps: …and may the best will win ofc :sports_medal:
(I will great every candidate this way  )

Hope you find time to share your thoughts on below topics and game ideas.

1. EVE Vanguard
Have you had an occasion to try it during Operation Nemesis or earlier? What was your impression if any?

What do you think about bidirectional connection planned with EVE Online? Do you see it has a potential to attract more players towards New Eden? And do you think Capsuleers will benefit from it?

2. Information & ISK itemization
How about being able to take a notes from your notepad and put it as an item into container or ship cargo? Same with an amount of ISK? Just like you can do with PLEX.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it?

3. Production Plans
Basically the idea behind this is to bundle all the BPOs (BPCs), required to produce some final product, say, an assembled Drake fully fitted according to some saved fit ready for duty, into a single BPO-like item, and internally arranged into an intricate production workflow. Complete with logistics tasks, if necessary, using delivery corp projects. It could use BPMN diagram editor to arrange.

When installed into industrial job slot it will churn out those Drakes, provided there are required materials in linked containers or pause until they are become available again.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it? Or at least expand ESI to allow 3rd party developers to do it?

  1. I have horrible reflexes and I suck at shooters, so I did not try vanguard.
  2. I would definitely support that kind of functionality, it depends how much engineering time CCP is willing to put into it. Hangers and stuff are some of the oldest code the CCP has so doing so may be problematic.
  3. The thing with that idea is that there’s so many different ways to cook chicken with regards to industry that whatever CCP makes will not sit well with some players. I would definitely support better item viewer functionality in the base game to help new industrialists (say “Explode BOM” like the Excel addon can already do), but going as far as to make a full fledged industry planner in game is a misallocation of dev resources. To draw an analogy, I am a filthy wow player, and in that game the devs are planning to remove a lot of addons and replace with official UI. The issue is that Blizzard has about 3 UI developers vs the extremely large community addon developer team. The ratio of CCP devs to EVE community devs for industry might be even lower.

I served on CSM18 with Angry and am very happy to see him back out for CSM20. I can attest that his passion for statistics and numbers have helped improve and balance the game.

I had a chance to interview him! Please be gentle on the video. Not only did I have some computer issues, but I edited this while on vacation in order to get it out!

I consider this to be an awful change. Not only did it lock some ships to require LP farming deep in nullsec which are highly controlled areas not particularly open to the public, it reduced a lot of the drive to gas huffing in lowsec as it can’t be used to build the highly useful to smaller groups’ pirate ships anymore. Sure, you can use the gas to manufacture capital ship parts, but as someone interested in small gang activity, capital ships are not particularly useful regardless of how capable we are of building them.

This has reduced mykoserocin gas huffing to an activity solely for ISK/hr and not something that can be harvested for personal use for the general public. Should you make another term as CSM, I request that you suggest to CCP to allow NET Resonators to be built from mykoserocin/cytoserocin in addition to being bought for LP, not only from LP stores.
