Anti-Gank (AG) Methods:

Why have you left the most obvious solution off the table? Prudence. Use your freighter/hauler prudently and not need AG.

This is like asking:

Now that I’ve poked the bear and it is coming to eat me…what should I do?

Well, don’t be dumb and poke the bear would have been the best strategy…

CONCORD always wins!

By that you mean join CFC because their freighters can autopilot without issues everywhere they go? Good idea.

That’d require knowledge, which requires some kind of educational material… not on the table according to Salvos.

I am 100% certain that most of today’s ‘supremely college educated leaders of tomorrow’ have absolutely no understanding of free thought, critical thinking, or the concept of ‘thinking outside the box’. If it’s not a well packaged step by step/simplified process, they just don’t get it. Can’t get it.

The wiring is ruined. Hopefully it’s not a permanent change to the genome.

Have you been diving into Drac’s special bluelist or Dinsdale’s finest?

Thanks, I can speak and think for myself and don’t need support from either. I’m just talking from my very own experience, for instance, of those times when I see CFC alts in 8 charons slowboat through high sec towards Zinkon. So, if I want to continue to fly around mindlessly, I have to join them. That must be what Teckos means when he talks about “prudence” because my normal prudence (webbing, scouting, low value cargo, proper fittings, detours etc) do not really help to keep me safe.

This is complete utter nonsense! Just make an alt! You are NOT your character!

Of course it would be!

But as soon as there’s an interesting idea, some carebear living in the land of theories comes up and declares that it won’t work, because the gankers will magically adapt to every single situation, spontaneously.

No I meant don’t be a dumbass and put 12 billion ISK of cargo value into your charon while fitting cargo expanders, while not using a scout, and then auto piloting through Niarja. Seriously, why does everyone complain about a bad outcome when they take on such massive risk. It is like jumping off a 10 story building and then bitching all the way down how much the landing is going to hurt.

Alt or main makes no difference. Logging into an alt doesn’t magically make that play style enjoyable to me.

The funny thing is that they already adapted:

Oh…okay, so this thread should be titled: How to try and save those who are too foolish and imprudent to use their stuff wisely…

Why do we care?

If they are full of juicy cargo why were you not organizing a gank? If you just really dislike Goons…why not gank them irrespective of loot value?

Why don’t you do something about it…or is complaining on the forums the best you got?

Your post now has nothing to do with what you initially said. Would you mind sticking to what you were saying, instead of coming up with something new that’s not actually connected?

Unfortunately this is correct. The only way to combat ganking is to become a ganker yourself, completely change your play style and give up the things you like to do in game. Personally, I would be interested in AG otherwise but I do not get any enjoyment out of that play style.

It makes all the differences, because all the things you claimed are not true at all, and using an alt makes it easy not to wreck your main character. No onw has to change anything, and no one has to give anything up. You are NOT your character.

If you have a goal, then you either have to work for it … or you don’t actually have a goal. If you were truly interested, then you wouldn’t care about it not being “how you like it”, but instead you would just “do” it.

Ganking, and “PvP” in general, are not play styles one can choose from. They’re things you can do. Even if you are stuck with one single thing you do in the game, which is completely fair, it does not mean that it is some sort of “individual playstyle”.

This is an idea that has been introduced by those who believe that there are “play styles” and that some people force “play styles” on the others. The “individualists”, who believe that everything is an opinion, also believe that “whatever i do defines me. It’s who I am.” and they do not see the mental prison this completely bonkers idea of “individuality” actually is.

There is no choice between “PvE” and “PvP”, you consent to PvP when you undock. There is PvE stuff to do, but that’s all there is to it. For the same reason can you not opt out of self protection simply by declaring that “PvP is not your play style”, because the rules and laws of the game are what ultimately matter. Read the New Player FAQ if you doubt me.

Cheers.

What does that prove? That isn’t a cheap T1 ship. Was it bumping the target?

le sigh Yellow was talking about adapting, I linked a kill mail that shows the adaptation to interference from anti ganking efforts.

Okay…so I’m dumb. You asked about bumping in a cheap T1 cruiser to get the gank target off the warp in and reduce the effectiveness of bumping/ganking. Yellow responded that it would be effective, but nobody would try it because those opposed to ganking will just assume the gankers will adapt immediately. You then link a kill that…I can’t tell if it was doing what you suggest or even why the ship was blown up…so…explain why you linked that kill to poor stupid ol’ me, because it does not look like it pertains to what you wrote.

Thank you for linking it!

Besides them obviously adapting (it’s a never ending arms race, after all), we do not know the circumstances under which he died. That’d be interesting to know. Both sides continuously need to adapt.

The problem of the AG side being unable to think creatively and unwilling to use all available options to win isn’t a problem of the game itself.
