and what does that accomplish exactly?
That doesn’t work in the market I played in. If you aren’t competitive with relisting you stay at the bottom as others continually place new orders above yours.

Your graph with order modifications is incorrect. Only those orders that have been satisfied must be considered. But not those that did not change for a month and were deleted. I suspect that those 6% of orders that have been changed - only they were sold / bought. The remaining 94% is too high / low orders. This is a dead market without ISK traffic.
see dev blog. It’s explained there.
If you’ve placed it at the lowest price point that’s good for you, then aren’t all those other people placing orders below you taking a loss? Let them!
Not necessarily. It can mean they acquired items for cheaper, It can mean they accept to make a smaller margin. It can mean they need money fast, and so they are making a profit by acquiring liquidity now.
Exactly what I was thinking… was already a good strategy in some cases, now will be a good strategy in way more cases.
True, true. Was thinking it was mostly the “minerals I mined myself are free” crowd selling stuff for way too low.
Mr. Obvious? But going in the direction of penalizing casual players even more by removing a tool to level the playing field (free order change) is a dick move.
Well, that’s something obvious that you just discovered :
Nope.
Use correct words, casual traders are not penalized.
Your choice of words is just made to present things in a complete stupid way.
This patch added a penalty for non-casual players. You are literally claiming CCP did the opposite of what they did.
That’s very bad propaganda.
Lol, I’m using correct words. Casual traders are penalized over 23/7 bots with this change. Simple bots and 0.01ISK traders were ALSO penalized, but for me the additional disadvantage to my play rythm outweighs this part by a big margin.
BS.
You literally wrote
Which implies there is a penalty specifically for casual players, which is totally false as the penalty applies the more you move your orders, that is the less casual you are.
So no, you are literally saying the opposite of the truth.
You are thinking too one-dimensional. The penalty applies only to those often updating their orders, it does not apply to people setting up many orders which don’t or less often get updated. As pro-trader or bot you are doing the latter. As casual you can’t but still have to swallow the updating fee.
Literally the opposite.
EVE Market was a really fun & exiting way of playing this game, finding good opportunities and marging calculation.
Now it’s juste … boring
Great job CCP
So first time trying out the new market order fees today… holy crap that is brutal. This is going to obliterate industry profits.
Yes, CCP found a very efficient solution to get back industry profits !
So been playing since 2005 and it looks like this means it’s the end of a great ride.
That’s not the normal idle rage quit rant, but a simple assessment of the fact this change has effectively eliminated the only aspect of Eve I play. So I’m left with no choice as there is no game left to play, it’s a shame but it seems to be CCP’s strange choice to throw out the baby with the bath water by clamping down on bots regardless of whether it destroys real players gameplay, an odd decision to actively engineer a reduction in your subscriber base.
Please note this makes adjusting 305 orders impossible whilst trying to maintain a profit, let alone massively slowing down the adjustment process even if you wanted to, trying to quickly apply the rounding maths.
There literally couldn’t have been a worse change to the game mechanics for market traders.
But I guess tha’s what you get when you assign the work experience kid the job of eliminating the age old problem of trading bots.
Thanks for nothing CCP!!!
Same conclusion for me, I already stopped my 6 month recuring substription yesterday and I will see in one or two month what will be the next step.
I’m also playing PVP in WH, it’s fun too but not the same and, for that, I don’t need to pay a subscription in euro but use my plex stock to continue playing.
In fact I was really pleased to pay EVE monthly subscription because of the market complexity and ability to use API information to managed it.
If it’s not necessary anymore CCP will nether get more real money from me, that’s it.
McCalnis’ Law.
That is all.
(Is there even anyone left who still remembers what that is, or why it matters? Anyone at all?)
