CCP Cancels WIS and then Tease It... šŸ‘€

I can think of ten officially accepted professions that beg to differ with that.

Which of those would be enhanced rather than encumbered by WiS?

CCP has said multiple times in the past their vision for Eve Online is to be a Virtual Reality set in a futuristic Sci-Fi environment.

Take from that what you will, to me it means everything from Spaceships to Avatars…

It’s been 20 years, and the only thing they came up with was your character in a single room, unable to interact with anyone else. It’s simply never going to happen…

Sorry, it’s only been 10 years, not 20…

Anyway, back then their tech was limited, but now they’ve been bought out by a company that specializes in Avatar based gameplay, so…

You know what I meant. EVE has been online for going on 20 years now, and in that 20 years you were only able to access a single room, and that didn’t even last a year…

It’s now owned by one of the most successful avatar gameplay companies in the industry.

It’s absolutely going to happen.

They can’t even be bothered to take 5 minutes to change a single line of text that would stop new players from asking ā€œHow do I mine Tritanium?ā€ ten thousand times a day for the past 20 years. So no, it’s not going to happen…

No, I’m not a mind reader so I don’t know what you meant.

As for it’s age, the Virtual Reality of Eve Online was actually in the process of being created within that first 10 year span.

As for the limitations of the Captains Quarters, that was actually a good starting point for them to expand upon. Unfortunately there was a lot of resistance from a few loud-mouthed dissidents (which is still happening) that basically made CCP gun-shy towards that aspect of the game.

Bottom line is if that type of content brings in more paying customers, then it’s going to happen, whether you and your cohorts like it or not…

All I can say is feel free to revisit this thread next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, until you reach the same conclusion. I may end up being wrong, but I highly doubt it…

I never projected a time line of when it will happen.

However if CCP wants this game to continue for another 20 yrs, then that’s the next logical step for them to take.

You can only put so much lipstick on a pig. if that is the route they are wanting to take, they might as well release an EVE 2.0 with an updated game engine that will easily support avatar-based gameplay, because the current engine isn’t going to cut it. You think Jita is laggy now? Just wait until you are trying to walk around inside Jita 4-4 with 1,500 other avatars trying to load in…

Only 10?

You’re slipping man.

And?

They also said they would never sell skillpoints…

That’s a very limited viewpoint you have, not to mention a total lack of imagination.

More than likely the WiS aspect would be done as instanced content on separate servers allowing only a small percentage of players to access each instanced section at a time.

But, she’s not wrong.

About what?

On separate servers, with limited availability. I think CCP could charge an ala carte service here.

For an additional +10USD/month, you can have one (1) of your EvE avatars rendered as a full body character and available for use in our exclusive walking in station servers!

This is a brilliant idea! I would, well, no. I probably wouldn’t, pay for it, but I’m sure some hard core EvE players would!

If there is one thing that EVE doesn’t need more of, its instanced content. And if only a limited number of players are allowed in the instance, why even bother?

It would be the same as when you go to a restaurant or night club, there’s a maximum capacity for that establishment and if it’s full then you don’t get to enter and have to wait in line.

I think each section of the WiS environment would be it’s own instanced section, thus allowing more players to have access.
