It was given to them. I remember those times very well when they cried, whined, whaled, cavorted CCP all until CCP finally caved and buffed the crap out of the then existing in-game systems in their favor.
The game was specifically patched for them.
The concept of higher risk higher rewards is solid and used in many games and in many forms. high risk activities, high risk maps / regions, etc. etc. And that is as it should be. What is not as it should be is the scale of it here. That is the broken part.
You should watch and listen to some of the videos etc. on the Imperium News Network. Even they made a video about how they just flat out broke it and how insane it is.
