CCP Totally Failed it's Hsec players

The moon is my sun,
the night is my day,
Blood is my life,
and YOU are my prey.

My response is just good natured joking so I meant no disrespect to Zaera. PvP’ers are part of the environment. Mining would be really boring if there was no enemy to avoid.

I…I…feel a strange tingly sensation inside…is that my spidey sense or are you projecting yours?

I’m a high sec player, have been for almost 10 years. its not as bad as that but CCP are making it harder sure.

The main issue is that its indirect, its by effect from other places. Places that really really needed some love and areas that needed diversifying, eg some time ago now CCP changed the DNA of ore, taking some minerals out and moving them to other ore. Yes this effected high sec negatively but it also effected null sec, low sec and wormholes negatively, so as you can see in this example, CCP didn’t fail high sec.

HS is pretty safe if you look after yourself, keep an eye open, use the in game tools. hauler fees are very affordable for more risky or bulky asset movement. Don’t fall for the bait, don’t AFK mine exhumers or 5 bil marauders in missions and pretty basic stuff avoids so much of the crap.

CCP make High to be something players can just about exist in to push you into the other areas of space or the new stuff they release. Its the corner of the sandpit full of toddlers fighting over a few vanilla ice creams, if you want mint choc chip or rum and raisin you gotta leave that corner and go get your face punched in. I think the idea being its easier to eat ice cream with no teeth.

To survive in high sec you embrace that or go to null sec and join a gang.

Find a place they wont goto… like a high sec island in low sec…

Be aware both gankers and war deccers do make trips to these high-sec pockets, however the further you are away from population centers the less likely you are to see either.

And become an F1 monkey

Been there, done that, murdered a few pirates… booted.

Tasteless Karfoo is in Aunia by the mission gates in a protuis… she is sitting in a imicus then jumps into the other has a orca giving her boost

@Notjedi, I’d really appreciate it if you would delete the unnecessary apostrophe in the title of this thread. This isn’t a comment on you, just a plea from someone whose eye is constantly drawn to it in the list of thread titles.

Humour me?

Technically a ganker is also an F1 monkey.

Hi Altara, since the ganker must activate scram and sebo in addition to blasters, he or she may be an F1, F2, and F3 Monkey, no?

I think I used to use F2-F4 because I do not have the fingers of a concert pianist and I was always in danger of hitting ESC instead of F1. It’s a habit I’ve retained, for the same reason.

Nope, here we have a gank in action

Where are all these “Gankers” everyone is talking about? I mean I just come back from my monthly Epic-Arc tour, which probably means some hundred jumps through HighSec. In a Marauder of course, Glasscannon fit with barely any tank, we want to be efficient, do we? I was using Autopilot more than once for the larger travel parts, making myself a nice tea or something to eat. At one time I got some fresh blocks of wood for the chimney from the cellar. Ah, and getting a package from the delivery guy at the door while the shiny Marauder was just floating in space at the destination system when the AP ended. Of course no tank mods activated because none of my fits are even remotely capstable.

Guess what? Nothing happened. It’ was like 4 times x 3hours roughly (very chilled semi-afk runs) in one of the most expensive ships you can fly in HS and exactly NOBODY tried to gank me. Over like 200 jumps and I didn’t even see a Ganker. Nobdy scanned me as far as I have noticed (as said, I traveled on AP quite some time). Nobody combatprobed, nobody bumped me, nothing.

Funny thing: After finishing the Epic Arcs I logged in the Orca+Mackinaw combo and did some IceMining while being on the threadmill. It took like 2 hours before some MassMultiboxer logged in and erased the belt, but I got my fair share. Again, Gankers: Zero.

And, last but not least: Last week I was in the mood to do some missionblitzing, grabbing my usual 500k LP for each empire. I ran missions for HOURS in 4 different locations, all 0.5 or 0.6 Security Systems. We want to get good payments, do we? Number of Gankers seen: ZERO. Number of times someone tried to combatprobe me: ZERO. Number of times someone tried to mess with my MTUs: ZERO.

So please, can we do some realistic talk and acknowledge that there is barely any ganking going on in the bigger picture? You probably won’t ganked even if you are careless as ■■■■ (if you are it would be your fault then, of course, but the chances are still pretty slim). 99.9% of all players at any given day are NOT GANKED. It would be nice to stop this nonsense propaganda that “Ganking is an issue!” at all.

Ganker activity can be seen on Zkillboard, eve-gatecheck.space, dotlan, etc. Your expensive ship was able to peacefully float in space, something that’s also happened to many of us. If you HAD been ganked, you would be called stupid, and most on this forum, including you, would say “it’s your fault, of course”. Your anecdote does not illustrate the absence of hisec ganking, it simply illustrates that it didn’t affect you personally that day. Maybe the gankers were focussed on a campaign in the OP’s system or another one and not prowling for you. Or maybe they just missed you. If your corp was headquarterd in certain systems in hisec, you’d understand what OP was referring to, even if you still disagreed that it was a problem or should change.

We’re transitioning to other games, which respect our time, and don’t require us to pay $400 for 20 accounts every month (with the expectation that every few years that figure can be raised by another 50%) for the privilege of dunking some AFK farmer’s raggedy sloop.

A single account is enough for Albion or Mortal 2. Or we can pay $10-20 once for a game like DayZ or Rust, and enjoy our PvP gameplay without acting as the proverbial goyim to the developers who are single-handedly keeping the shekel-rub meme relevant in the 2020s. Although to be fair, those games too have forums absolutely full of people yelling very loudly for the PvP gameplay to be restricted, neutered, or outright removed.

The open-world PvP genre of games is unlikely to survive this decade, but hopefully neither are the shallow-content, cash-milking barns like this game and its overmonetized market peers. You can see signs of change with games like Helldivers 2 and Palworld doing so well.

I do have some hopes for the upcoming Dune MMO, though. Funcom has a good track record of fostering compelling open-world PvP gameplay.

I’m simultaneously glad that you have to spend so much money in order to hunt big game and disgusted that I’m thought of as game which people think they can purchase the priviledge to hunt.

I’m sure CCP respects your money, if not your time. But nobody requires you to pay anything, let alone for more than 1 account. The only reason people feel like its required to have 20 accounts is because its allowed to have 20 accounts. And the ones complaining the MOST about hisec ganking are not AFK farmers who probably have isk to spare to buy more ships - its the small-medium single-account miners trying to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps being called AFK bots just because they were gank victims who weren’t skilled-enough fighters as they were overwhelmed by catalysts while DRILLING FOR MINERALS IN A ROCK. Also please leave antisemetic references in the 1930’s where they belong.

Nwver seen gankers in high sec pockers but i have seen war deccers
.
The later never stay around long..

It’s has nothing to do with “thinking we can.” It’s how things actually are. CCP has literally monetized you, like cattle, to act as content and sustenance for the more skilled and involved players who once made up the core demographic of the game during its inception. You are a resource to be consumed, and CCP doesn’t think about you in any way except as such. When they make some change that increases your longevity, it’s not because they identify with your plight, but because they’re adjusting levers that control your population, rate of reproduction, et cetera in order to maximize the profits of their cattle ranch.

Look, I get it that you’re happy that changes were made that benefit you at the expense of your predators. But ultimately this doesn’t actually do anything for you aside from ensuring that your ISK wallet is two or three times as large when you quit the game out of boredom.

Yeah exactly, and everyone with a brain should be able to see that it cannot be a problem of any magnitude because it simply doesn’t happen to the ooooooooooooooverwhelming majority of all players each day. Barely anyone is ganked, compared to the number of players online each day. Way below 1%. Even from those who are ganked, most of them die afk at some known ganking hotspot they chose to ignore. Even if you are insanely sloppy, chances are above 95% that exactly nothing will happen to to. If you are careful, chances of you being ganked are as close to ZERO as it can get.

So all I ask is that people stop pretending that “Ganking is an issue”. It isn’t. It is completely insignificant. It is basically no threat at all if you aren’t completely ignorant.

I know extortion scams in the game are laughably considered acceptable behavior, but extending it out to these forums borders on violating ToS, certainly. But beyond that it’s just antisocial behavior that worsens gameplay experience for many people.

AFAIK not many people actually buy mining permits from other players, so this 'like everyone else" nonsense is nonsense. But I love this graphic.

Actually EVE is about mining pretty rocks too, because tons of players say it is, and you can whine about that all you like. Whine Whine Whine I’m being targeted for being fitter than everyone else when only I should get to survive. I have a bigger pixel gun why does this always happen to poor me I thought I bought a hunting license from CCP to kill miners and miners actually think their gameplay experience is as valid as mine waaa waaaa what’s next??? miners getting the right to vote?? waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
