Hmmm… When I was doing baiting I got more old players than new players in Battleships (I only focused on battleships).
The Nergal is an excellent bait ship and a Kronos pilot sometimes has a superiority complex. And people are not generally afraid to engage. If I decided to expand my appetite to normal (none Tech II or faction battleships) then a lot more would engage. On a bad day I would only have 1 engage for maybe an hours EVE time.
You would be so surprised how many engage in highsec. I mean ORCAs will engage a Nergal in a belt if you are suspect.
Is this a magical “think of the children” bias or are you seriously believing that of the tens of thousands of different people,
who are playing every single day, every single one is aware of baiting mechanics? You can’t seriously believe that?
The worst part about your post is that you’re apparently creating the whole post on a guess that makes no ■■■■■■■ sense.
We already have a DMC, there’s no need for another one.
Hm… I’m sure you spent more time writing this answer than actually read and understand what I’ve written.
Let’s say: You’ve been baited with word “new”. Baited so heavily so you didn’t even read the second sentence in the same post did you?.
To make it simpler:
When I’m writing about baiting of mission runners I don’t talk about players who just joined the game. I’m talking about those who hasn’t experienced being baited and killed yet. Once baited and killed players is no longer “newish” and won’t take bait again (unless stupid but those I don’t care about).
You all are misconstruing my post. The problem IS NOT that I cannot find targets or successfully bait. As a matter of fact, the Nergal has made it EASIER for us to bait and kill a Battleship. Furthermore we’ve been doing this for a LONG time and have never and will never have an issue getting people to shoot.
THE ACTUAL PROBLEM THAT IM TALKING ABOUT HERE is that as it stands there is literally NOT A SINGLE INCENTIVE for suspects to play together or for that matter, recruit and train new players. There is no longer a reasonable support role for suspects.
DST/Industrial/Freighter to loot your target.
Bowhead/Orca to bring in alternate ships into grid for ship swaps or reshipping
Prober to find them so you can have an excellent warp in, and also scout to get multiple options to pick from.
Logistics bringing you new ships.
There are plenty of support options that aren’t “I win with as many logi as I need to make it work”
This is all completely false. First of all, every suspect baiter worth there salt already has an Orca alt. Second, even if they didn’t, no player in their right mind is going to sit there on standby in a Orca waiting for me to get shot. Third they nerfed hotswapping from an Orca anyways so even if the previous reasons weren’t true this fact alone voids your suggestion entirely.
As far as the industrial, you must be thinking I’m talking about suicide ganking. I am not. I am talking about SUSPECT BAITING. I do not need someone to scoop my loot. And again who in their right mind is going to sit on standby just to come loot my bait?
These aren’t roles for other suspects. These aren’t roles for friends. These are roles for ALTS.
Well of course there is no need to cooperate with other suspects if you’ve filled all the roles you actually want with alts. “Hey CCP, I made fake friends to do things for me, now let my real friends jump in as well…”
Yeah, that about says it all. It’s not like logi don’t also become alts as soon as they are let back in again.
OF COURSE WE WOULD HAVE LOGI ALTS THAT IS THE ENTIRE POINT. I would have alts to logi my friends, my friends would have alts to logi me, AND WE WOULD BE PLAYING TOGETHER AGAIN. As it stands now, nobody has a reason to play together. We sit in comms together all day. We are friends.
Sadly, we now have literally NO reason or REALISTIC way to support each other.
Let me try to explain this in a way that even you can understand:
If I unsub my Orca alt. That does not mean that one of my friends is going to want to sit in an Orca all day just to be my backpack. As a matter of fact, I can assure you that I WOULD NOT have access to an Orca if I did not have an Orca alt.
Furthermore, you do not interact with the suspect community in ANY way outside of these forums. You’ve also REPEATEDLY proven that you do not have the baseline knowledge required to even comment about suspect baiting. How is it that I always end up arguing with you specifically every time I post?
We get it, you dislike the way we play the game. Now PLEASE go post somewhere else. Maybe try a topic for which you actually have some INSIGHT.
Maybe don’t assume I have no insight, just because I don’t hang out in your super secret special discord club doesn’t mean I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Where have I ever said I dislike suspect baiting?
2b. Believing something is unbalanced does not imply any dislike of the people to use it, or even of the activity, just that there is a belief it is unbalanced in a particular way.
I can tell you have no insight by looking at your killboards. You’re literally just mad that you can’t shoot whatever you want and get a fair fight. Welcome to Eve.
I did resub. I really love this game but it is a shell of what it used to be. The suspect community used to be THRIVING. Now there is no community. Just a bunch of individuals linking killmails in chat/discord.
CCPlease give neutral logi back to suspects. Just make war combat and suspect combat have separate engagement timers and make the one for suspects NOT Concord the Logi.
Even though this logi change made my gameplay harder because I cannot use out of Corp Logi and have them go suspect. It was still a terrible mechanic.
When baiting mission runners they had no hope in hell fighting back and even if somebody came to help… good luck breaking 4 guardians/basis/zarms… if not more.
The change to neutral logi and suspect baiting was very much needed and should stay in place for several reasons:
It is very much an N+1 mechanic were even fully prepared players (yes plural) will not be able to do anything against it as the neutral logi will receive neutral logi as well. There are still plenty of examples of how powerfull spidertanking is.
Neutral logi were deployed once the fighting had begun and would always be far away from the fight. The victim(s) of the mechanic would be scrambled and have no option to close the distance to deal with the neutral logi. And if by some mircle it would happen, reason 1 goes into place.
People complained for ages about how ECM was not a fun experience in fights. Having unknown numbers of neutral logi’s that are fully hidden untill they strike is even worse
It happens in highsec and targets the inexperienced players and leaves them with a survival rate of practicaly 0% while the baiters have an extreme high survival rate due to experience and reason 1.
