Cleaned up the thread. Same inappropriate content like the first time Dorrim cleaned it. Keep it civil. keep it to the topic at hand.
I was wondering how do I go and get this topic deleted? Iāll go with suggestions of skill extractor and biomassing my toon and making a new one. Iām sorry for wasting your and everyones time for asking for this.
Donāt apologize for using this forum for what is meant for. If anything, is the community that owns you an apologize for the response it gave you.
That said, you can ask ISD to lock the thread and flag the post for attention.
I can lock the post if you would like, but honestly I think itās a good idea with merit.
Nothing i say has merit. Again, iām sorry. iām sorry for all the divisiveness i brought here.
You have merit, donāt let anyone tell you otherwise. And donāt let your brain being mean to you stop you from pushing this idea.
One trans individual to another @Kimara_Cretak , hang in there hon. You didnāt bring divisive rhetoric into this, others injected it trying to get you to stop. You are not the issue here.
@Lugh_Crow-Slave Keep in mind that you (most likely) do not experience dysphoria at the drop of a hat.
Most of us do.
I actually stopped playing for a very long time because of it. For me, dysphoria is both physically painful and nauseating. Having something as simple as being able to change my gender in a game would do wonders for myself and many others. It hurts no-one and helps everyone.
Iām going to go out on a limb and say most people donāt.
I still say, an implementation is no remedy for someoneās psychological issues of not feeling comfortable with his natural gender.
Does it hurt to have this option in the game, certainly not. Does it hurt to spend dev time to cater to a vocal minority? Depends.
If the psychological well being of a minority is the main reason why this should be implemented, then letās talk about Walking in Stations. - If the LGBTQ+ would support other minorities with the same passion, as they do with their own, then I would have no reason not to support you too.
Youāre not wasting anyoneās time. Your suggestion is as legit as any other, only the discussion around motivation is the dividing factor (and fairly unimportant).
Biomassing your character and losing an important part of your skill points is just about the worst thing that can happen in this game. I would urge you not to go there. If an immediate solution does not present itself, I would suggest that you instead make another character with the characteristics/appearance you prefer, and let the older one rest for the time being. Perhaps in time you will appreciate the older character for what it can do in the game (skill wise), and not so much dislike it for how it appears, and return to it to use it as a big asset in the game. I have characters of both genders. The one I like the most depends on the situation and what skills it has to offer. I am the player behind all of these characters, not one of these characters.
Everything is in evolution, the game as well as how each of us think and feel about something. A dear friend of mine is still struggling with the loss of a character (he had around 200M sp), half a decade later, the result of a poor decision. If I can give only one piece of advice, donāt destroy a character.
The OP could try submitting a ticket to have their gender changed. The worst that could happen is nothing.
This.
Donāt biomass your character if you donāt like the gender, create a new character instead and keep the old one.
I play many different characters in this game, male and female characters. I love creating characters and their pictures, but apart from that picture the gender of those characters means nothing for gameplay. And while I spent a lot of time creating nice characters, most of them are really not like me in real life. Does that matter? No, because this is a role playing game and youāre allowed to play any role you like.
My recommendation: if you donāt like the current role of your main character (because of their gender), create a new alt that suits you better and use that as your main character.
Donāt biomass/destroy your other character, you may one day be comfortable playing that other character again and may want to use their valuable skills.
How so?
The Triglavian suits have unisex masks. As the only place where gender matters in this game is your portrait, having a unisex portrait means you donāt have to deal with a male face for a character that you want to roleplay as female.
Aw, honey. Bless your sweet heart, look at you. Youāre trying so, so hard.
Agreed, the focus on āwhy do you want to change the sex of your EVE Characterā is continuing to be divisive, insidious, and not the point. The main reason for CCP to implement it is for plain greed: giving the resculpt token a little more power may cause a modest number of sales of resculpt tokens.
In that light, the clothing concern becomes more interesting because some customers have used microtransactions to acquire gendered clothing. If they suddenly have the wrong gendered item, in true CCP fashion I imagine theyāll be out of luck and CCP will āencourageā them to re-buy the same clothes but different gender. More greed.
You people keep giving them ideas.
They already have the idea, this just reinforces it.
I have my own reasons to be able to want to do this, thereās nothing insidious or divisive about it. It does however help CCP with their addiction to greed.
My reasons range from wanting the OP to be happy along with anyone else who has the same reason, to my own love of messing around with the character creator. For me itās a lot of fun seeing how far I can push it. I think a fair number of other players would like it to be a lot more flexible than it is, to be a lot less sluggish (itās by far the slowest thing of itās kind Iāve ever seen (an interesting thing about that is it really makes me wonder what they used to make it)) have far more options for literally everything in it, to be able to save things as drafts, and to be able to iterate profile pictures and save drafts of them.
So, using just me as an example, whereās the insidious part?
Most of the arguments in here that arenāt simple bigotry would be good arguments if we actually knew anything about the code that went into making the editor and the character re-sculpt stuff. We donāt, so claiming itās a waste of developer time trying to improve it is just guesswork. The ISD seems to be keeping up nicely with the other stuff as it crops up.
Am I missing any other reasons to be against this aside from CCP actually making money off of it?
Honestly I would have to question that last one too, whatās the problem with them making money off of things that donāt effect game play?
Now that I think about it, messing around with the character Creator is why I have so many characters.
This is VERY good for CCP. When I make one I like I tend to subscribe it.
I got, over time, fairly good at making them beautiful, then it got easy, now Iām working on ugly, angry, stupid but aggressive, and old and bitter. Those are all proving to be really fun but more challenging then making them beautiful for some reason.
Someone like me needs a lot of flexibility, without it I canāt make the changes I want, and this brings up another reason to be able to change their sex. If I make a horribly bitter old woman whoās been angry for entire life to the point where itās contorted all of her features and the lines and wrinkles in her around her eyes let you know that she hates you and everyone else, suddenly I will want to make someone like a husband for her maybe and being able to make a copy of her (impossible at the moment) and turn that copy male with all of her features creates a set. A bitter old married couple who LOOK like they have a history together.
It was @Shipwreck_Jones and @Wadiest_Yong who suggested a slider for gender or a way of not needing to specify it in the first place, I think thatās a fantastic concept, I would add to it the ability to make a copy of my creation and then be able to edit the copy.
I think the idea of copying them is in this thread as well, but I canāt seem to find it.
Sorry whoever you are, I want to give you credit for thatās but Iām a ditz and canāt find your postā¦
