Panic Attack. Alliance would like to cordially invite every remaining member of this game to a Cyno-lit Vigil to honor the death of our respect for the EvE Online Dev Team.
We will be holding this memorial service at 00:00eve, the night before this patch drops, and we will also be holding a prayer service in the hopes that they will one day sack-up and ignore the player base for changes they know will be good for the advancement of this game.
What you have essentially done, at least the perception of it, is to announce a large change that will disrupt the player-base on a whole, and give the players time to compensate for said change. Then, after much complaining by the community (which is known to cry about EVERYTHING), you then go…oh…yeah…well…let’s just make another module instead, which, you could’ve done in the first place had you thought for more than 8 seconds about this.
And in making an additional change to this patch, kind of F people over who had spent IRL money to turn on multiple accounts in order to not be behind when the patch drops. (inb4 free SP, which, honestly, doesn’t do much for the overall respect that you would’ve gained by those who can appreciate you running the game how you/your team wants to run it)
In where I understand the thought process of this ‘community tradition’, to think that you’re not being ‘played’ by your own player-base is kind of naive. If the worst thing to happen to the original change was the loss of cyno-lit vigils, it’s not much of a loss in the grand scheme of things. You propose an idea that, whether or not is supported completely, is seen in the light of ‘this is how we want our game to be played’ but then shy-away from it with immature backlash.
It would’ve been soooo much better to add a memorial cyno for the niche purpose of the cyno-vigils rather than going back on your original plan.
The last few months alone has drastically improved the health of this game but obviously, the loudest mouths have you by the baIls. It’s a real shame because there’s a lot of us out there that really do root for you and cheer-lead when you ignore the bltchy community and do your own thing. You’ll always have complaints and cannot make everyone happy, so make your game and those who enjoy it will stay. The one’s who leave, will just leave…but to bend over and take it by your own community is sickening.
The admiration and respect that you would’ve had by giving a moderate finger to the community by saying, ‘this is how it’s going to be because we believe in it fully, it’s your choice to leave or stay but this is how we want the game to be’…ugh.
By curtailing your decision making by attempting to make everyone happy…well…that loses you the respect of everyone involved because those who throw the temper-tantrum and get their way won’t give a F about you for being weak leaders/know they can get into the cookie jar whenever they want. And those who see you meekly complying with the crying children won’t respect you for the same thing. It’s a lose-lose.
Please, if you’re doing to read any of this…don’t flip-flop. Make a decision and stick with it, you’ll garner more respect. Those who don’t like it can leave, those who stick with you will help you flourish.
