I always enjoyed the Christmas gifts, they were fun & subtle remarks of EvE’s & CCP history.
Always was neat finding out the history behind the fun things one got.
regarding the ships, even they came with a bit of lore & stuff. The Echelon was part of the whole Sansha Invasion event, helping us unveil Sansha’s motives.
The Solar Sail pod was a ship to help people check out the new sites & wormholes without fear of being shot by NPC’s (players still shot you up tho, no immunity from player agression 
)
All in all, I don’t see a need to hand out useful things, as that can affect the player market negatively. Imo, the Gecko drones were too much & should have been introduced along with blueprints, so they would been part of the player market & not rely on CCP handouts, as they are/were very strong drones.
In short: I liked my CCP Christmas gifts & look forward what this year will bring!

I’ve appreciated every gift that was given, from ships, to Geckos, to the more recent collectible items.

CCP, please make a button that says: “Forward ALL” and then select Player name, and send all the ■■■■ to someone else.

I wonder if the event hasn’t already started. While I’ve been here, CCP has given out SKINs, clothes, and useless items with funny descriptions involving stuff which has happened in the EVE universe, with the occasional special ship (i.e. Gnosis, luxury yacht, Council shuttle). The event has, so far, given out two of the three, plus those cerebral accelerators.
