Would like to send some isk, but im broke right now… need to fly some compressed Gneiss to Jita first. If im not ganked on my way there.. oh wait never happend so far.
Then escalate!
Find like-minded people, found a group to either fight ganking in general or target a specific area or ganking group.
The point is: you won’t. Thats why ganks don’t escalate. Because you are too lazy to actually do it.
At this point, it seems that all thats occurring here is folks just throwing raw meat at a beast with a bottomless pit for a belly. If we cease the food supply, he’ll go away.
Can bad threads be ganked?
Not really, but in the end you can lead a horse to the water, but you can’t force it to drink.
Actually no it’s not about laziness at all. Familiarize yourself with the workflow of ganking, resetting up, avoiding criminal counters and killrights easy and then view it from the other side. It’s nearly impossible to keep the pressure up on a small gankfleet considering those limitation and repercussion is unlikely if not employing the same play style and even then you will only be having low catalyst value targets. Your argument Sir i cannot agree with and i feel it’s not not based on real player experience and current facts. Ofcourse, you might hold other views as well to compliment your argument. Please feel free to discuss. o7
Your lot has all the help you need.
Why do you feel that you deserve better than that? If you want good killmails, you are going to have to try harder and earn them.
Destroyers with no tank should be easy targets, especially if you come at them with cheaper frigates and you can fire first because of Hight Sec Rules.
Is it laziness or fear that keep people who complain about ganking so much from doing something easy?
How can you “fire first” on a target that is either:
- Using tags to remove their flashy status or
- Only undocking when it’s time to gank or
- Just bouncing around in warp so they can never be shot at in the first place?
With respect, yes what you suggest is completely plausible, but you forget about our balancing equations here. The fact that you still need a squad to ‘take revenge’on a small gank destroyer with a what 5 million drop (possibly) does not leverage you the same risk/reward that was just represented when you lost your 500mill cargo haul to them ? Also, do not forget there was probably 5 catalysts involved so how many players does that now constitute to address all 5 that now lovingly caresses their 100 million split each from the gank. See ? Adequate retaliation option is not represented adequately ingame and the pure logistic effort it would cost to retaliate on a per player base in smaller ships as to drop the loss threshold lower than their’s simply does not cut it. Ontopof that as well people prefer not to do thjis silly gank thing and have a proper pvp brawl which is more fun. Now they are focred to alter their playstyle to this boring life..I would ask of you represent your logic in assuming otherwise. o7
The OP should read, “no consequences”.
If gankers can’t be ganked, then neither can miners.
It’s not that they can’t be, it’s simply not worth it.
Correct
-
Well, you are going to have to fight fire with fire aren’t you?
-
I guess this depends on the type of gankers you mean. I see a lot of stationary Tornadoes and Thrashers in Jita, but I guess those aren’t the gankers you are looking for? I guess ganking people is a bit of work huh? You will need the patience of my cats hiding in the bushes in waiting.
-
If they are flying larger slower ships (DDs and BCs) to your frigates and cruisers maybe you can catch them? It is going to take some skill and effort on your part. I have a faction warfare character in the Minmatar Militia, and I have met horrible Ammar slavers that are good at chasing down my breacher until I get safe spots set up in a system. You are going to have to practice, I guess.
I heard flying around and ganking people was easy. Is it going to be difficult for you to catch these gankers?
lol, you focus too much on material value. The goal is to disrupt their operations, make them fail and smile. Gank them or jam them or bump them or bait right before they want to kill a valuable target, denying them hundreds of millions in loot.
You Sir have absolutely strange ideas how “retaliation” should work. During the last big wormhole eviction I took part as defender and we mobilized hundreds of people (not paying anyone a dime), they spent thousands of man-hours blocking holes - some people 10 hours in a row waiting in a standing fleet in case they were needed, ready every single minute of it. Sieging stations, breaking sieges. More than a thousand wormholes were rolled with full crews to escort and secure them to bring more forces into the besieged hole, just to have a chance to find the right one.
None of that for a single ISK of profit. Just to make sure the attackers don’t succeed.
You, Sir, want easy gameplay mechanic consequences you have no effort with and you claim that every option you have is “not viable” just because you can’t make money with it.
Your problem is that you even seem to believe you somehow speak for “the silent masses” or something. Fact is: Ganking is a non issue. Poor random newbs create a new topic each week and cry about it, thats it. 99% of the player base doesn’t give a ■■■■ about ganking. Either because they aren’t affected or they have learned how to easily avoid being killed by it. More people are leaving EVE out of sheer boredom than because of ganking. Because they try to play a massmultiplayer game SOLO in the most restricted area there is, refuse to listen to advice (learn PvP mechanics, at least to the degree that you can dodge attacks and leave highsec) and then realizing such a castrated gameplay just sucks. Because they are throwing 99% of the content that game offers straight out of the window. Self made problem.
Is going to take you a squad of ships to take out a destroyer that is all offense and no tank? I am not the best, or even a remarkable pvp player, but I would think, if you worked really hard at it, you could design a frigate doctrine that could quickly take out a catalyst or thrasher with no tank.
Do you expect these gankers to fly over to you and perform hari-kari for you because you call then dishonorable?
Yes, you are not going to make much money doing this. You may lose money. Is the taste of revenge sweet enough to continue? That is a you question, not a me question.
Sure it is going to be work. Do you want the kill as bad as they do?
Eve is a sandbox. You may want to line up your ships up and have your opponent line their ships up and have an honorable duel to structure. They may want to run away until you are not prepared and then shoot your hauler full of Thukker batteries. We don’t always get what we want in this life. I hope you find peace with this fact.
Again, silly arguments from people without consequences.
Greed, laziness and a certain type of personality disorder drives ganking.
Are you replying in the right thread ?
We are here.

Though at the risk of rounding a corner and finding a madman talking to daemons with no pants on, I’ll just go.
“No problem, my mistake, you are totally right.”
Ah yes, the survey from the unbiased “remove drones from the game” sentry drone hating, ishtar nerfing, “maybe it will be balanced after the third nerf, no lets mess with slot layout, whoops, btw I’m turd on the dominix too” survey which has been criticized ever since for failing to factor Survivorship Bias in the data?
First time I encountered “non consensual PvP” I had never even heard of the work Gank, if CCP had decided to DM me right after for a survey I would have told them to go sit under a pillow.
If getting people to stay in EVE was actually important to CCP, the recruitment threads and channels would be less tolerant of spammers, tire kickers and trolls. For how essential HR is to an organization, CCP do no favours in essentially forcing the use of 3rd party software for what should be an integrated part of corporation management.
