That’s the thing. CCP “listens” to a small handful of people and ignores the rest. In turn, those small handful of people talk with their own little circles and ignore the rest. So in general, you get lopsided and biased communication.
But hey, if it works for them, I guess good on them. As a developer, they’ve certainly got the most ideal situation: let others worry about the masses while they just worry about a dozen or so. I can’t imagine any development company who would actually prefer to listen to the raging noise of a large playerbase when they could have it like this.
@Liorah end to agree partially, I think we need to get more CSM members like Brisc, he was out there talking to everyone who he could reach getting opinions from friends, foes and people in between. The concept isn’t broken IMHO but getting people to vote for the right candidate is the part that needs more attention. That is something we as a community need to address
I love how some CSM14 candidates are displaying their Killboards…
…great way to show what sort of player you are…
…interesting how many DICE, and other affiliated corps to those alliances we love to hate…
…and one candidates even has this as part of their campaign;
I have to say the CSM this time around are interesting to say the least if these are the sort of players we’re getting.
I can only hope CCP vets the candidates, I’m surprised they don’t elect a few players themselves who they have had good feedback from over the years, as we know there’s a number of players out there that just help follow players out to learn EVE and/or help players get ahead when the LARGE corps decide to roam on weaker players.
What’s wrong with minerbumping? You may not like the playstyles it talks about, but…sandbox.
“…great way to show what sort of player you are…” What, people who blow up pixelships in a game where blowing up pixelships is a big part of the game?
Not really seeing a problem.
What f***** OPINION Steven? Your opinion on scanning window? CSM opinion on scanning window? It’s like I would be lecturing you about manufacturing and how to make website about it ( and I have zero to none knowledge about it). You suppose to be a bridge between players and CCP. None of you with excepcions like Brisc, did that in the past. There were no threads after summit like: CCP want to implement something, what do you think?. Spare me NDA crap. People have an opinion that CSM is NS blocs puppets and you don’t deny it.
CSM is just a lazy implementation of “we care” lip service paid to customers. If you (CCP) really want to know what players think about things…ASK LOTS OF PLAYERS. You can’t reasonably expect a half dozen volunteers to be a voice for tens of thousands of people because you can be sure that when they aren’t getting paid, they sure as hell won’t be able to ask anyone outside their relatively tiny circle. Who has time to survey 1000 players on their own dime?
I don’t care either about CSM. Is a completely irrelevant entity, made by individuals neither truly representative or useful for the majority of EVE players.
Is just a PR farce who make a bad mimic of a democratic institution and act as an lobbyist group for some nullsec players. Meh.
Like I wrote before, you consolidate who’s opinion? There waa only one CSM member active on forums lately, Brisc. Most of you are specialize players and don’t have expert knowledge on everything in this game, yet CCP is making the same mistake every year. They will know in advance on what things they will work, so they should ask players involved with that activity what they think about it. From my perspective CSM are useless. You keep getting my playstyles and tools for it worse year by year. If you want an analogy: it’s like I’ll be messing with manufacturing window and have zero knowledge about manufacturing in EvE.
There’s a lot of threads up about the new updates on the forums right now. Absolutely no CSM members have posted in them. Isn’t their entire purpose to be the voice of the players when it comes to updates? Actually in the entire month of May only Steve and Jin’taan have posted on the forums (outside of a couple CSM members posting ‘vote for me again’).
I like the CSM, and generally support it.
However, I have to agree with this comment. The current members and more importantly the candidates are simply not visible enough here.
