Swapping filters is done with shortkeys (1, 2, 3 etc.) and is instant.
Copy pasting into a third party tool isn’t done for speed but to analyze the dscan result and to share it with others. And more importantly, to store your result so you can continue flying and dscanning eithout losing the dscan of that fleet composition you just saw.
After all, if you are still looking through your old dscan result you cannot be generating new dscans and are thus flying half blind. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Besides being unable to make new scans to preserve old results your suggestion would also make regular defensive scanning less fast, as the folder structure will mean I have to scroll more or be busy clicking my dscdn window to collapse folders in between scans.
Generally I don’t click my dscan window at all, I just press the dscan key and glance. And a little later I press again and see if I now spotted that other player who just entered system.
Dscan is to be refreshed often, and to be looked at as quick as possible, not to be a giant structure of folders you need to search through because if it is your filters are wrong and you’re going to miss what is happening in space.
What I expect would hapoen if I had dscdn folders: I have the ‘probe’ folder collapsed and miss combat probes nearing my location, or the ‘ship’ folder collapsed and miss that ship on dscan.
No thanks, it’s going to take more space, more effort and more time to do with folders what can already be done more efficiently with filters.
Can you provide an example of a dscan result you want folders for?
I filter out structures when I don’t need them. Structures cannot sneak up on me and don’t move around.
My main dscan filter has ships, bubbles and probes only so I can spot danger in the least amount of time.
I have a second filter that shows the rest in case I want to find something less time-sensitive, or make a special filter if I’m after one particular thing.
Have you tried this way of working yet?
