[DAEV4] Thebeka III Freeport Aid Stations

If your actions go against Cartel doctrines, wishes and politics, sure.

… but when looking at what you might choose to do, it’s rather unreasonable to expect anything but what Angel Loyalists are condoning and supporting with their chosen loyalty.

There’s an awful lot of “if” in your arguments.

Which of my actual actions support your fears?

Your choice in loyalties demonstrates exceedingly poor qualities in your character. That is something that affects anything you might do. And there are always messages sent in the flags we wear, and in who we associate with or what we do while we are wearing one.

Your choice in loyalties.

You know, to the organization that enslaves women and children to be ■■■■■■ to death for profit.

You mean like ‘if I’m lying’, ‘if I can’t be trusted’, and ‘if I decide to act in accordance with the Cartel’s doctrines, wishes, and politics’?

Well, the problem is that there’s a lot more ‘if’ in your position.

As in ‘If a known, and admitted Angel loyalist decides now is the time to be disloyal, she can be trusted’.
That’s ‘If a known and admitted Angel loyalist demonstrates she is willing to betray those she claims to be loyal to, she can be trusted.’
That is ‘If a known and admitted Angel loyalist demonstrates the people with the most reason to trust her cannot trust her, then she can be trusted’.

So your complaint comes down to: ‘If I can’t be trusted, then trust me!’

Which is a massive ‘if’, now isn’t it? After all, if Miz, Samira, and Adams can trust you, why can’t the Angels? What kind of ‘loyalty’ is that? If the people whose goals you claim to be loyal to can’t trust you to be loyal to those goals, how can anyone else?

No, but like you they did accuse Electus Matari, despite me repeatedly telling everyone and their cousin it was not (at that point) an alliance operation.

And I find that fair enough. We are who we associate with. As Arrendis says: if the Angels, who you profess loyalty to, cannot trust you to work for their goals, how can anyone else trust anything you say?

EDIT: Ok, actually, they did also call us ‘Republican forces’. Which is also fair enough. Keitan Yun’s statement in the Inner Council about how Amarr may think what they will fits the situation very well. We are operating inside CONCORD regulations and consequences.

It would not occur to me to demand that the Amarrians, or anyone else, suddenly start thinking “I can be trusted” not to support the Free Tribes just because I say so. The universe just does not work that way.

Eyes in Thebeka can confirm that the Raitarus are currently unanchoring, both of them, over a full hour before the deadline. Obviously, there’s still a week to go to see if this process is completed but so far the deal seems to be honored. The structures can still be staged in, with very little loss of utility given that the services that can’t be onlined are mostly irrelevant to such things here in Thebeka, but it is about as good an outcome as we can get given the mechanics at play.

A week from now we’ll see if the deal will be honored all the way.

Good on ya.

Edited to add: Ship activity in the system also seems to indicate an evacuation of several Orcaloads worth of assets and cargo. Obviously the specifics are unclear, but it does add some corroboration to the notion these stations are practically defunct for the moment.

The repair cycles on both installations were permitted to conclude as stipulated by the terms of the agreement. Upon the completion of cycle on the South Tower, both installations were confirmed visually by myself as commencing unanchoring protocols, again in compliance with the terms of the agreement.

Both the Conglomerate and United Fleet have upon witnessing this have started the process to end the conflict with the Daeuuas. corporation, with hostilities ceasing after a twenty-four hour period on the 29th of December YC120. Both HECON and UF have held up their end of the bargain. No further action will be taken by either the Conglomerate or United Fleet unless in self-defence or if a violation of the agreement is detected.

As noted above, the agreed upon terms have so far been kept by all parties.

I am almost disappointed I didn’t get to use my cartoon villain lines in local. I feel “I will remember this insult”, and, “You’ll live to regret this” would have added a certain something to the situation.

Oh well. See you in a week.

“You’ll rue this day!” would have been a good one, too.

“And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids”, along with “Bah, curses, foiled again!”, also need more usage.

Hey babe, relax.

I quite enjoy my installments of the latest holonovella reality series that is the IGS. Nothing wrong with sharing your feelings in the belief that your words can make a difference.

Although you will be hard pressed to beat last season’s installment of Aria trying to convince the Matari the Empire is truly reforming itself and becoming so benign and caring. Only to have the suppressions of Kahah and now Thebeka et al blowing up in her face.

Whoops!

Haha! Oh, yeah, that’s great.

Because it totally contradicts everything we said.

You poor, hollow idiot.

Pretty sure she was and is pushing more that not everyone in the empire is working to maintain the status quo and some aren’t as the stereotypes suggest.

Correct. However, and this is kind of critical, Ms. Vess:

Please don’t assume Veik is arguing in good faith. Ever. Her claim that her “■■■■ posting” isn’t to be taken seriously is probably truer than most things she says here. The real error is in assuming that she’s being truthful in representing herself anywhere else, either.

Yep, pretty much a grain of salt with what she says. I’m just not one to keep quiet on something wrong, it’s not in my nature.

The mistake would be dismissing what she says because Veik says it. If you can cover up the username and the post remains accurate, then it’s rather irrelevant that she’s the poster.

Oh yeah, all those caring reformists you hang out with are going to help end slavery by putting boots on the ground to put down slaves rebelling for their own freedom.

Because talk is easy, but actually giving up the powers and privileges that come with slavery, now that’s just too damn hard.
