My issue isnt the increased fuel cost, its the trial and error style development rather than long term planned development. In EVE’s first decade we saw features introduced left and right there was no structured planning, but in all honesty that fact and the broken nature of those features is what attracted players to playing the game, its what gave EVE its sandbox feeling. I can accept change in terms of making every asset in game have a balanced and strategic purpose but we are talking about making changes to the same stats, features, and assets multiple times a year sometimes as many as 8-9 times.
Buff-Nerf-Buff-Nerf…make your minds up. Its like you are saying here is objective A and we will use method A to obtain that objective, ok we overshot so change to method B…ooops undershot, go to method C, overshot slightly again, switch to method D, ok we undershot it again…you are tweaking things that have massive implications in game, applying restrictions to systems and features that should be un-restrictive in a sandbox environment all in the name of the almighty balancing purpose. Quit making changes for changes sake, fix it, if you are unhappy with the solution too bad get over it, move on to other features and development. You can return to it in a few years and re-examine the issue and see if the community has worked around it or if you truly need to re-balance it. You do not give players time to adjust before you have made another change to negate the previous one.
The past few years you guys have done some great development but here lately its like you are trying to perfect something but not giving your playerbase time to react before you have changed it again for fear that you HAVE to push out an update be that inspired and heavily influenced by CSM or not. My suggestion would be to reconnect with the true EVE players. I do not see any need to stimulate the ice market, prices for isotopes since citadel release is 100% above where they were, people are ice mining. Perhaps you are focusing on the wrong area, don’t look at consumption but instead look at extraction. Moving ice to anoms served a great purpose in forcing players to move around more, but belts deplete pretty fast in heavily mined systems, often times those miners are bored. Then there is the risk v reward of it. You can double isotope cost now and its still not enough to negate the risk of ice mining. Between high sec ganking and null fights EVE is a lot different from 15 years ago. Maybe its time to reduce ice from 1km3 to that similar to ore. Mining ice takes a major commitment of resources and defense. Allowing smaller chunks means miners spend less time exposed and are more likely to get out there and do it.
nope… its all fozzie fault, just like the rest of the bad changes he’s made. you’re just one of his few supporters… he’s done nothing but hurt the game time and time again with each patch in his “vision” has caused more people to leave or quit than come and play…
do you ever hear… “im excited to join null sec and start sov warfare?” hell no you do not.
do you ever hear " I hate sov mechanics and fozzie-sov really stinks"… you can hear this 100x a day from various regions… its been a fail ever since HE touched it… this is just facts folks which you and ccp do not like to hear.
but guess what… we’ll just begin creating threads on how much smaller this community has became since ccp hired him… go look.
I’m neither in favour of or against any of the changes Fozzie has put forward, and in this case don’t actually care.
You seem to completely miss the point, to you this is a game and you don’t like the changes. To CCP employees this is their job and I can guarantee they are not making changes that they believe will be bad for the game as a whole as that would jeopardize their careers.
Members of CCP will take ownership of ideas because it is expected of them, I very much doubt anyone in their right mind would want to front ideas on these forums otherwise. When people like yourself are beying for blood you are actually wanting someone to lose their job.
If CCP are unhappy with an employees ideas then they will deal with it, as players we should attack the idea rather than CCP employees.
you seem to be completely missing the point, fozzie is the head dev… bottom line he came up with this decision to another change in… bottom line… your dismissal and denial is just taking up space… we know this game is a con, its a scam, and fozzie-bots exist,
I know I give CCP a hard time for a lot of stuff. Heck I am hard on everyone. I left my former Alliances discord as I was saying the reduction in isotopes was (hog shit) stupid if all they (the developers) were going to turn around and increase fuel cost.
Communication is an amazing thing. And good communication is rare no matter were in goes.
I have been saying something along this line by just removing compression from the game and reducing the volume of ore to 1m3 a unit, doesn’t matter the type of ore. Ice could be reduced as well and everything just requires the 100 units to reprocess. I think that would be a meaningful change to balance and simplify the game vs the other changes that go back and forth.
No he isn’t “head dev”, he is simply the Dev who’s name has become synonymous with many unpopular changes in Eve’s recent history.
I (like many others) have come to dread seeing the name “CCP Fozzie” as the author of a dev blog - Regardless of his position in the overall dev team lineup, he is the one putting his name on changes that more often than not are seen to reduce the “fun factor” of playing the game.
Unfortunately CCP has for many years now done a great job at not communicating with its player base, this in turn makes disliking and blaming Fozzie the only real (and easiest) option open to the masses.
Self-Serving much? The formation of RvB, Brave Newbies or Signal Cartel easily prove just how worthless you are. There are plenty of channels or organisations which require sacrifice or volunteers to function. All for the betterment of the game. How much time, effort and money do you think Chribba has put into making New Eden a better.
Here’s the thing. You and your group is the antithesis of this game, full-stop. The central glowing core of the sandbox is “unscripted events”. But when tens of thousands of players are bound to a single narrative, unscripted is lost. Maybe if you were sacrificed for the good of the game, I do not think it is too absurd to wish for.
“Unscripted” doesn’t mean what you think it does. A “scripted” event is put into place by the developers of the game. However much you dislike what we do, or however much you dislike what you THINK we do, it’s still unscripted. The developers of the game are not putting Goonswarm Federation on rails. That my group exists is entirely BECAUSE Eve is unscripted.
Also, no one is bound to our narrative. While Goonswarm Federation operates as a brutal autocracy, in reality, every organization in Eve is a democracy. Votes are cast with one’s corporate and alliance membership. We have nothing binding our members to us, and if something better than what we provide comes along, they’ll leave in a heartbeat. Perhaps the organizations and individuals you listed as “good for the game” aren’t actually so? After all, if they were such a bastion of unambiguous positivity, we would hardly exist at all, as our clearly sub-par existence would have nothing attractive to it.
I like the idea of encouraging local production but how about a change that makes it easier for small groups to set up local trade? Like market modules being allowed on smaller structures, for example.
Let just make ppl turtle up even more, THANKS FOZZIE, I’ve had your back for years, not anymore. You are DAF when it comes to this game. If you want ppl to fight, you need to make them want to move, not restrict movement.
No to this change!
CCP breaks the game and wants us to agree with this Increasing Fuel consumption is not a solution dear devs and designers… This is prolongiation of a problem… just make the fuel more rare and the prices will go up and let us fly our capitals with less fuel isntaed of making us tankers for carrying fuel arround all the time…
Have you thought about restricting the source of an ice-component to WH’s Icebelts?
Goal: To make risky mining worthwhile.
–
Example: Heavy Water -> Alliances need to cooperate with WH expeditions to fuel their needs. Although they want to close all WH quickly. So there is a worthwhile decision to be balanced.
Goon f**king at its best. Since they are so strong economically why not make importing to Jita more expensive for them. Also why not make changes in such a way that every Dick and Harry can now train a bunch of ganking alphas, put them in cruisers and gank any freighter they can lay their eyes on. Freighters, with new alpha changes, will be unusable.
