Dev Blog: October Balance Pass!

This isn’t something you can slap on SISI and immediately notice the impact. It’s a balance change that has to be tested in a live environment. The question isn’t whether the mechanic will actually work, it’s whether the change makes a difference in gameplay. We won’t find that out until people try it.

OK Brisc, you stated your opinion a lot in this thread already. And you want what is good for people even if they keep stating otherwise…
You can stop it now and let others to tell their opinions as well? Thank you!

hi tash!

Nothing is stopping folks from sharing their opinions.

Removed some off topic posts. Please keep it civil and on topic. Thank you.

i guess when ppl start talking nuts and bolts; rooks vs damping machs…yea, totally off topic. nothing to discuss there. lets go back to when there were only 1990 blunders on the books! and we weren’t lost in the weeds eh? i like eve, but forums are cheaper and at least as entertaining. no dock/undock button either.

so you were saying brisc, about your damp machs and how they don’t perform very well vs jam boats that out ewar you @ 60+km right?

That’s not what I was saying. I was pointing out damp ranges, using a ship I could pull up quickly and look at the fit.

oh…
ok. well, its gone now. man that isd sure was right on time tho eh? =P

Yes. Please don’t forget, remove local and completely re-balance sub caps vs caps, thats the way to go, along with more, not less nullified ships and stronger ECM and alike mechanics that can be effectively applied to caps.

His ass has it all exactly backwards.

You know I campaigned on removing local and rebalancing sub caps vs. caps, right?

No I did not, and the reason for it is that your current stance on things goes opposite to what you campaigned for.

There are huge, gigantic empty spaces in the game where hardly anyone goes to because of bubbles. Game needs far more ships of all sorts that can pass them, not just interceptors and T3s or a specialized ship here and there, I mean a lot more. Hell, there should be modules like warp stabs that let you go through bubbles that you can put on any ship except caps.

Game needs more EWAR, especially from sub caps vs caps, not less of it or limited forms thereof. Any change in opposite direction is a wrong change and a wrong path to go down even if in and of itself it works out OK.

No, it doesn’t, because the issues are separate. Nullifcation removal I campaigned on. The ECM change wasn’t something I cared about, but I was convinced it was necessary by some of the other CSMs.

I don’t have a problem with taxi ships getting around bubbles and would support adding nullification to shuttles. But if you’re there to fight, there has to be a way for defenders to get you to commit and not just run off any time you choose not to fight. That’s bubbles. I don’t see bubbles being the issue they were just a couple of years ago.

The game doesn’t need any more mechanics that players find frustrating and unfun.

@Brisc_Rubal

Something I would like to know. When are we going to get Corp and Allince mechanic changes. I know this thread is for the Oct balance pass, but I still feel that a lot of the issues people keep bringing up while discussing the removal of nullification and ECM is just making null blocs safer, could be sorted out by changing the player limit per Corp back down from the change it got a few years ago that allowed more people in a single Corp. I would also seek a limit to the number of corps an alliance can have. And also a hard limit on the number of +5/10 tags that a Corp can make. Temporarily force groups to be smaller to drive conflict. And readjust once other mechanics have been replaced/fixed.

I’ll add that stuff to my list.

Best way to get us to commit is to have an actual chance at winning. And am not talking about guranteed wins or even 50/50 or something like that, just a half decent chance, which would be a lot more then we got now.

Hit and run is the only way to commit under the current game mechanics and with how stupidly OP caps are. And you are advocating for and taking steps to eliminate that only way.

Thank you.

Because just training another frig to 5 is do hard

You mean a change that only hurts people using them in more or less balanced ways but does nothing to help with the cancer

Thanks @Xsagaroth, to be honest that was a cutdown version of the original concept I had.

But having the ECM and other similar attack modules scaled to match the ship it’s being mount to, and it’s designed targets of equal size and it’s effectiveness scales down as target size increases.

another great way to do it would be

remove 100% jam chance

add stacking immune ECCM to ECM mods (this plays into current ecm gameplay and acts as a natural stacking penalty against ECM)

adjust base jam to compensate for the above
