Devblog: Final Statement Brisc Rubal Follow Up Investigation

@Rivr_Luzade where you at? I got the popcorn ready

You think the fact that Brics was going to sue CCP in real life affected their decision? Maybe they felt some kind of pressure? Why would they ban first and then review their actions taken? Just a speculation.

To the people who are complaining about “but you need to review all the bans you have done before” etc etc etc

These reviews should be taking place before the ban ever gets put in place.

Initial Investigation
Found Guilty
Review Evidence and Investigation steps to confirm guilt
Ban

Its like going from Test environments to Prod without UAT or proper testing taking place. It always blows up spectacularly.

I really feel bad for all involved.
(SNARK) I think free skill points would make everyone feel a little better about this unfortunate moment. (/SNARK)

So now we have established that CCP makes mistakes.
We should think long and hard about how we can use this information moving forward.

@The_Judge as the only member of the CSM to come out in support of the original ban publicly, any follow up to this previous statement of yours?

Agree. There should be consequences for the players who made the false report and the employees who bungled this so badly. To write a dev blog calling someone out like that is disgusting. Since when do we name and shame?

Even if it were true, they should have written something like “CSM member removed for administrative reasons” and left it there.

Congratulations!
You’ve just lost the trust of the rest of the community. You told us you’d done your investigation and had determined they were dirty cheaters. Now you’re saying you didn’t do any sort of investigation until after you took action and made a pretty serious statement.
How can we possibly trust anything you do from this point forward? Did other CSM’s actually turn in evidence, or was this just a ploy to get EvE in the news again?

Haha, it’s gone great.

Get used to the “post CCP Guard” community team. Guard was a good natured, tempering force at CCP as far as I have seen and heard, not so much for others that are in charge.

That’s unfortunate that he is a casualty of some trigger-happy mouthbreather (referring to ‘whistleblower’ here). That guy had his heart in the right place.

Absolutely spineless. Even in Iceland, special people get special treatment I guess.

Or are you going to do 2 week long reviews for everyone else you banned who claimed innocence?

I would like to know which CCP employee thought it was a good idea to write such an undiplomatic, damaging statement which essentially attacked the character of an innocent Eve player.

I feel like in the days of CCP Guard this wouldn’t have happened, even if he wasn’t technically in charge of the team, his opinions carried weight. He is the kind of guy that doesn’t need to flex his internet muscle to feel powerful. Someone else on the community team is obviously very different.
