I would rather see swift action and an afterward investigation so the economy isn’t exploited for a long time. Banning and announcing actions against a prominent player should have an investigation at first and be double checked.
People made mistakes and will continue to do so. It’s a natural process of learning, let’s move on.
I wonder what REALLY happened, was it a ruse from other CSM people to remove him? was it someone in CCP with an axe to grind? was he actually sorta half guilty but CCP wanted to avoid court drama? who pressed the button in CCP to start it all off?
Will we ever know? find out in next week’s episode of Iceland Internetwars!
5 Off topic/spam responses have been removed.
What about removing whomever was in charge of the investigation and putting in new leadership? Not saying to fire anyone but maybe shake up the team a little bit.
The precedent is still set, but removing the leader who the community perceives to have been lax in investigating bans might restore some confidence. Having a new team leader who publicly commits to doing his actual job might be a nice gesture. Knowing that if he messes up he or she will be removed might also prevent this from happening again.
This is a game and community that people truly love. To try to log in to accounts you may have invested over a decade in and find you are banned for no reason and have no way to appeal? That’s bad for business.
From this day forth Crowd Control Production shall be known as Damage Control Productions.
CCP has a hands-off policy toward him.
Oops…
They could have quietly suspended their accounts pending investigation. Any Eve player who cares about the game would have seen the wisdom in that and let CCP investigate.
Imagine if that had happened. If they had to say anything public about the incident they would have looked like heroes:
“We received reports, we suspended the players pending an investigation, one of whom is a CSM member, we reinstated the players having found no wrongdoing”
Having issued a statement like that would have shown that CCP is serious about the game, willing to suspend someone who they know personally. It would have shown integrity.
Why what I just wrote isn’t policy is beyond me. And when did we start “naming and shaming”???
CCP is incompetent. No really, you guys are ridiculously incompetent.
You can’t vet unsubstantiated claims before banning someone high profile like a CSM member or even have the courtesy to communicate with him after the ban to discuss your accusations? You can’t stop the botting problem and mass inflation caused by Chinese cheating? And why don’t you ever introduce any worthwhile content? Why not make missions great again, or develop exploration that keeps new players interested? Why do you guys take FOREVER to finalize things you say are coming soon? Why do you continually nerf things each year that are expensive and time consuming to train for because you can’t control the impact of botting? Where are our events that drop reasonably priced accelerators and decent skins instead of loot boxes?
CCP, truly, why do you deserve our subscription dollars? I’ve been playing and paying for this game for 10 years. Seriously, get your priorities in order and stop wasting money on VR games. I hope you guys equipped your Damage Control II.
Who made the allegations and what punishment are they receiving for their libel &/or slander?
What financial settlement did CCP reach with the effected parties?
If you can not reveal can you confirm if a new N.D.A is in place regarding the above?
With all respect, I want to know, and I’m sure a lot of people want as well, apologies are not sufficient. We need the names from those who made the “mistakes” and the price to pay for those “mistakes.” If we make a mistake, we’re banned and punished, nobody is over the law, even in EVE.
Still so many questions:
What was the unsubstantiated claim?
Where did the claim come from?
Was the further investigation into the matter prompted by threats of law suit?
Was the un-ban influenced by the threat of law suit?
I feel like i know nothing about what just happened…
Is essentially what we got but with different wording.
In future though, perhaps this would be a more prudent route.
No, we didn’t get ‘quietly’ anything.
True. I wasn’t thinking of that bit.
CCP, I am extremely disappointed by this decision.
First, you got one thing right. Punishing Brisc for what every elite rmt leaks club (CSM) member was doing forever - leaking - was not right.
But instead of making it better - banning entire CSM and removing it as institution, you basically made it WORSE by unbanning Brisc and basically sanctioning elite rmt leaks.
And the last part was incredibly wrong. Guess CFCSM of CFCCP was right after all. Please have my resent and eat my huge middle finger.
Of course, CCP Con, resident criminal is announcing this. Who else to announce yet another crooked decision?
Definitely this, and it’s something I’ve mentioned previously, too.
It addresses the need for quick action to prevent possible exploitation of the market, doesn’t feed the clickbait-hungry journalists, doesn’t involve a public name and shame, and is easily reversible without causing a public uproar.
So, no public execution then I guess?
While an apology was mandatory in this situation, I believe some sort of compensation should be made even if that compensation is some none functional game item like one free ship skin of the players choice from the NES store.
If you’re that angry, you could quit playing.
Also, can I have your stuff?
