That sir, is a line too far! As a never-nude myself, I believe I can speak on behalf of the other dozen or so of our kind out there, we will NOT stand for the removal of clothing!
Makes me wonder why no one of the players ever came up with something.
i can link my WIP game to the EVE API and have you control sprites or ASCII characters with your names on them, if anyone cares?
From my knowledge, it’d be perfectly legal as long as it’s free.
Gotta think about that, responses to the idea are welcome.
You’re all nuts, btw, you roleplayers.
/me sits down, grabs some whiskey, and lights up his cigar.
Nuts.

We’re well aware that the fact it’s not being used is due to the fact that there’s been no feature development. On the flip side of the coin, there’s been no feature development on it because our players sent us a clear message that they wanted us focused on spaceships, so we invested more there.
[/quote]
Slipping and sliding so that maybe no one will call it out, eh’ mate?!
Well, I’ll call you out here.
The players send a clear message about the Greed is good crap, not the WiS! I was there, I remember.
EVERY SINGLE ONE of the people I’ve spoken to then and now expressed disappointment about the [edit] “18 months of not developing sh*t”, the “Greed is good” and the “1000$ jeans” and the “monoclegate” and the “iterate on it later” (SIC!) and the idea to have third parties PAY fees for CCP for features that should have been their bloody job in the first place! (And not the job of some people developing in their free time)
THESE were the reasons, and THEN, CCP was gouging our eyes out with a balkony after years of teasing and talking.
THESE were the reasons people protested, not the Balcony, but the door that cannot be opened. Ever.
[edit: thanks @yellow_parasol for pointing out some things! ]
I have read some of the ideas in the old forums and yes they are brilliant. I just implied that we keep sharing these ideas, until it becomes obvious that things like avatar gameplay in EVE are just as natural as PVP or PVE.
Well maybe all these VR, console and mobile games are build for more focused player groups such as Valkyrie and DUST players, who are not necessary inclined to capsuleer gameplay. And also - some of these games are probably made to collect revenue that would be needed for improving the quality of EVE and so on. Just what I think, not sure If I am 100% correct…
That’s inaccurate.
It was the sum of all things, plus 18 months of basically zero development on the bug riddled, imbalanced game.
There was no SINGLE reason and there never is just a SINGLE reason. Learn the actual history and you will find that people had TONS of reasons to be pissed, not just one of them.
But the best part of the whole event, and the consequences, was that they went that way ANYWAY and slowly transitioned towards whales, away from the people who made the game what it was, towards people who can be easily milked.
Considering the status quo jow, i get the feeling the oldschool, actual hardcore players, would have been better off if WIS would have been used as milk machine, instead of causing an Eternal September which destroyed EVE’s old culture.
lol, this… I’d love to see this metric too!
Oh yeah,
the 18 months of not developing too, I’ll add that to the original post but I doubt CCP Falcon will even reply to it so at this point, I’m just venting anger.
The really frustrating thing for me right now is not the axing of the feature, but it is the communication spin on it by CCP’s side, stating they cannot do anything. I’ve heard from one source that they basically had everything set and ready to go (stations, bars, hookers, hell! even those tabletop games!). But it somehow never manifested itself on the real server.
Shame. Real shame.
They’ve had an “Ambulation” beta, which was a character walking around in an untextured station. There’s youtube videos around somewhere. Brilliant management, which i would compare to Jack Tramiel, did a Duke Nukem Forever and kept demanding to have everything rewritten, until time kind of, uhm, ran out.
There are a couple of them:
Wow, thanks for linking! Great material to add insult to injury!
Yeah!
It makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time now, right?
Nah.
if i was bothered about the absence of an environment where people can walk around and talk, i’d implement it myself. See my post above. And now a textbox popped up, telling me to stop talking to you in here and suggests switching to private messages. I don’t think that’s actually implemented, but hey…
Who is giving you orders like these!?!?
Try out that private message thingy, but I’ll guess they iterate that on later.
What killed incarna expansion then, was Hilmar who said “you have no balls” to the dev who made pricing list for Incarna, then Hilmar took the list and made monocles cost 70$. Summer of rage happened and Jita statue was destroyed. Hilmar then said to the lore team to write him a text he could show everybody, to apologize.

I know it all from devs who have been working for CCP in years past.
But enough of history, we will live in the future.
@CCP_Fozzie ask the CQ team if they can break out just the “walking around” code into a separate app, with one’s character in a green-screen sphere, so the Machinimists can put us in any env they want!
Or better, just provide a HL/UR engine export for toons.
This is still hinting that they have intentions towards it. That’s stringing you along. To use your awful analogy that’s like the girl saying “No, I don’t want to go out with you…but maybe one day, when it feels right for me”
The smart guy knows that when a women says that, she means never.
Just like the smart consumer knows that a company exists to make money, and if that corporation though there was money in a move, they’d take it. Them saying “well, maybe one day” is saying NO to everyone who isn’t naive. Also, that particular EP isn’t with the company anymore so it don’t matter what step he wanted to take…
People who want things always see what they want, and i can see how someone who deeply wants WiS could miss the last 5 to 7 years of clues about how WiS was dead. But thems the breaks.
You have, throughout this thread, demonstrated your ability to see what you want to see.
I’m the one that’s happy here, CCP is doing a very good thing, and unlike you i’m getting exactly what I want (a nail in the coffin of the un-eve like nonsense known as WiS).
You are free to dislike it but I think that lying to yourself for years about a game feature that most people knew was going nowhere is silly.
