But at the same time, if you die in that analogy to a magnetic anomaly in the bermuda triangle 6000m under the ocean, all of your skills, memories, etc etc, get beamed right out to your medical clone, no problem. So clearly, it’s still within wi-fi range.
Thank you for clarifying.
Andb ased on ur thinking. I think Ratting is a chore for everyone in order to get ISK. So there should be a button to instantly get isk whenever i need to buy something. Oh crap. That already exists. Then i need to buy a button that materialises me a brand new ship because i cant be asked to leave the system for 5 minutes to buy one. And its a chore.
As I said before, some chores are worse than others. Getting a new ship is fun. Getting a skill book isn’t.
And I buy plex instead of ratting all the time because my time is too valuable to waste ratting.
Thank you for the clarification of how this is going to be pay to win.
This seems more like a benefit to players that live in remote areas. Not a brand new player that spawns in a system that has skill books seeded in the market.
What?
Step by step the game is getting close to a “Throw money at it” state. Where everything can be solves by throwing money at it and having no effort whatsoever.
While everything comes down to ISK and you can jsut buy PLEX and sell it for ISK. It at least used to involve some gameplay before you could dive head into the deep of the game.
Now you can do all this from the system the game puts you in without undocking even once.
You can buy the injectors. The skills. Set ur clone to ur desired new home. And all you need to do is Throw money at the game.
Sure, you can credit card all kinds of stuff in EVE. And then you can watch as your officer fit Titan dies to rats or a dread bomb because you had no idea what you were doing.
A fool and his money are soon parted, especially in EVE.
There’s no pay to win here - at worst it’s pay for convenience. There’s still no accounting for skill, and players who do not have the disposable income that others do can still get access to everything in the game for free if they’re willing to put the time in.
This doesn’t change any of that.
This might not. But what is the next step. Because for a time we never thinked that skill injectors will be in EVE online.
Will we be able to buy a pre skilled “Combat Pilot” for an extra 80$ thrown at the character creation screen? Who knows.
Buying characters has been in EVE for well over a decade I believe. Edit: So trying to complain about being able to credit card things is sillly, EVE has always been there.
Skill injectors are actually a less harmful method of buying a character. If I got to pick between the two I’d rather see skill injectors (though I would like to see them somehow changed so you can’t plex by skill extraction but that’s another story)
I dig it. Sounds productive, also the option to stay as is for bitter vets is a good move. Well done CCP
You can buy characters from other players.
But how awesome it would be if i dont have to buy the PLEX and turn it into ISK just to buy a character already used from the Bazaar. But i could just throw 80$ at them and have a pristine brand new 20m sp Combat pilot that i can costumize in whatever way before jumping into the game with the name i choose.
Doesnt that sound lovely and appealing?
Where do you think those SP come from?
Where do you think Skillbooks come from? Other than NPC seeding to schools. They dont magically appear from thin air.
So if Skillbooks can magically appear from thin air so does SP. And then Ships. And then whatever else.
There is no limit of what they might come up with next.
And then you will like. We dig it. We dig it. But for how long? Where is that point you would say. Dude thats getting out of hand now. For me its about at this point.
PS: Almost forgot. SP is free btw. You can make a character and use it to farm skillpoint. It will make enough to support its own subscription and make profit after it does.
Except they can’t magically appear from thin air.
So this only applies to the ones that already appear from thin air.
Yup. And you can do that with 2 alts on an account and use multi-character training to train up the 3rd… to sell on the bazaar.
And you have to have thoose books in order to inject them in. With a button that asks for 1.5m isk and will get you the skill is basically magic from thin air.
For SP you need the extractor.
For Skills you need the Books.
No book no skill
No extractor no Injector
But if you change this to
No books but skills.
Why should the way of getting SP shouldnt jsut change to buy it for isk?
When will CCP make that cahnge? This is what im worried about. The way this is going. You have to play even less. Even if it feels like a chore to some. Getting to books in order to learn skills was a necessity in order to progress.
Yes. Those books that appear out of thin air. If you buy a skill book from a school station, there’s still exactly the sane number on order.
Right now:
- You pay money.
- Skillbook is created out of thin air in your cargo.
- You inject skillbook.
Change:
- You pay money.
- Skillbook gets injected.
That’s it. That’s the change. Any skillbook that is not currently created out of thin air when you buy it… won’t be affected.
