Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

Increased yield of a mining ship is still a buff to it even if it doesn’t make it the best mining ship

Yet everything they are doing this spring is acceptable to you?

All isk generation seriously crippled… this is starting to smell like a 100% Pay 2 Win game

Pretty much yeah, my only big concern is the effect of the nsa nerf on jf ganking with supers, other than that all looks pretty ■■■■■■■ good to me

Well, if you want to stick to the details, fine. I am not interested in buffs to ships that are still not worth using. The Rorq needs to be smashed into the ground, only then the buff to exhumer cycle time and yield means something and will have a significant effect.

i agree

WE NEED TO PATCH EVERYTHING THAT ALLOW GOONS TO DO ANYTHING AND MAKE SURE THEY CANT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY ARE OP, CCPlease fix goons and patch rorquals even more and just straight up trash vnis as well, we really need to not allow them to use the game mechanics.

2 hulks under rorqual boost mine same amont as rorqual but u need remember that your ■■■■ hulk cost a lot less than ONE rorqual drone, and u need a lot less skillz

When can we expect you to care about wormhole space? And not make all changes to benefit the people in null-sec. I realize that the player base is larger, but there are SOME players in j-space after all…

hey, at least they are not screwing over wormholes this time, like they almost did with the HIC changes

… and you need to constantly empty that Hulk into another ship in order to use it. Every 2 cycles. A Rorq with the drones beats that by having a huge ore hold.

Spotted the RMTer.

All in all I would say the changes sound very sollid.
just one thing: please set the maximum distance fighters can be used on to the same a Citadel can use it’s weapons. I just think it’s not optimal that a carrier can solo a Fort without the chance of the Fort shooting back on the Carrier.

Have you tried using a ship to fight off the carrier?

and? u risk only 350m ship who can warp off at all moment when u have a rorqual who cost 8-10B and is in siege + boost dont allow him hide his drones coz he need boost your hulk

Also your hulk can compress ore in rorqual or empty his ore in fleet hangar…
and damn bro, who using hulk without orca or porpoise for stock mined ore?

I like the spirit of these changes, but the application seems way off. Let’s hit the highlights:

Remote Reps: Good start. I like the foresight in separating the sub cap and cap rep returns. However overall I see this as just reinforcing what a lot of us saw with the first fax nerf: blob only pvp groups will just utilize the injector society to force their members into more fax capable alts. Even though the amount is parabolic, the lack of a hard limit on the amount that reps can affect a target still leaves the battle in the favor of the blob rather than the tactically skilled.

Gila: This one I’m kind of scratching my head over. Your newest draw is the Triglavian Abyss, so you want to cripple arguably the best ship for it. I don’t know of many groups that use the Gila in oppressive combat (granted, there are those), so this seems very pointed.

Lasers: Be careful and choose wisely going forward. We’re already on the “anything you can do trig can do better” path with lasers, so a step in the wrong direction here could see the death of that system entirely.

And now the big three.

Rorqs: Again, good try, but what you’re doing again here is just hurting the little guy. Excavator drones are prohibitively expensive for anyone other than the blob. Taking the ability to save some of that cost away creates more division of capability between the blob and the few on the outskirts. Combining that with a reduction in mining capability makes it even harder to recover that loss. The blobs turn that over just by the other rorquals in the same belt. The only way to truly balance this hull without favoring the blob is to limit the number of rorquals that can be in x area at a time. Grid, belt, system, whatever. Then you will actually see the mining support role you are hinting around for this vessel take shape.

HAW: STOP. JUST GET RID OF THESE. Logically, siege based platforms should be just that: SIEGE of heavy assets. Structures and other capital ships. Siege engines have always justifiably needed support to accomplish the task. Which ties in perfectly with…

Carriers: At this point, it looks like you just want this class deleted from existence. You’ve nerfed fighters to the point of being nearly useless outside the blob, and now you want to turn the hull itself into another siege engine. That makes no sense. Carriers and fighters should be the anti sub capital part of capital warfare, and let dreadnoughts and titans do the heavy siege work. If you want to balance the NSA, start by not having it auto cycle off at warp. That leaves the vessel vulnerable to aggression as the timer ends and also gives the carrier pilot at least some hope of escape in an emergent situation. It also puts impetus on the opfor to have the foresight to scout the area for potential landing points and bring a combat prober.

You’re starting to think critically about the issues in balance, and that’s great, but you’re blatantly ignorant of the way that these types of changes perpetuates the class warfare that is being ingrained in the game. Time to reevaluate how the CSM elections work and start hearing from players who aren’t just blob mouthpieces.

Did the sacked devs from WOW come to work for CCP?

ohh and what about HAC cap recharge rates and stalemates in abyssal pvp? any changes planned there? HAC can still be capstable with a gist xl booster and one large battery. maybe reduce its recharge rate a bit.
Abyssal pvp: as once proposed, 25% debuff is not enought still. and some people are willibgly making sure both die for no reason. this needs to be fixed asap. This will have an inpact on the curse and vedmak meta, as they are the only ships to counter bricktank HACs there. If you use anything else you will sooner or later end up in a stalemate, which is frustrating.

I like the Gila nerf, but keep in mind that it is more or less the only ship that can do tier 5 abyssal sites consistently. With the low price on mitas, using anything different will cause more loss than win.

Capital balance is epic, overdue for too long now

A lot of changes that are long overdue so thanks CCP for finally taking these problems seriously. I think there are a few big problems that aren’t addressed here but it’s definitely a start.

Bottom line, the current focus on capitals is not healthy for a game where capitals make up maybe 10% of all the flyable ships. They lock way too much content behind a massive pay wall and multiple alt accounts. The vast majority of the daily PVP should be subcaps fighting other subcaps, stuff that everyone can participate in and where things like ewar, booshing, kiting, bombing, counter-comps and splitting up groups with bubbles can allow smaller groups to fight against bigger ones. Capitals are practically immune to all that, all that matters is numbers. For that reason alone they shouldn’t be the focus of PVP in the game.

Also, why is the moon goo of the entirety of j-space ubiquitous? That is just ridiculous, there should be all kinds, considering they’re wormholes to many different regions in space…
