Discussion about "Into the Abyss" update

I think there are mainly three thoughts behind it.

First, to somewhat refresh the current meta around the modules that you will be able to mutate. Less so in terms of pure power and more in terms of fitting options and new tactical options. With a high probability we’ll see people playing around with overprop AB on ships that formerly weren’t able to do so. One important factor, that didn’t immediately came to my mind is also the chance for low SP players to fit “normal” fits they otherwise couldn’t. There are a quite a number of fits that require you to have a certain rigging skill to IV or Advanced Weapon Upgrades to V.

Second, to increase the demand for modules across the board. You’ll likely be able to sell modules that are in the mutaplasmidable item groups for higher prices than before - no matter if they are Meta T1, T2 or Faction. This is simply due to people bricking their stuff when playing around with Mutaplasmids.

Third, to give people the opportunity to get creative. It will require them to dive into their ship fittings and it might pay out for players who are willing to take the step and stop just fitting what they see others do. I personally like this very much, as it will benefit low and high SP, rich and poor players alike who show the necessary inventiveness.

@Slayer_Liberator in order to make a profit from it, there are plenty of opportunities. You can play the market game in many different ways around this expansion. You can run the sites and sell a lot of different things that will drop: BPCs, Filaments and Mutaplasmids. Or you can roll them yourself if you have a good idea what might sell for a decent profit.

If you make a profit or not really depends on you and your decisions. Not everyone who tries, will succeed. People will invest in the wrong stuff or simply underestimate competition. People will underestimate the sites and lose their shiny ships and pods.

Then there will be people who don’t try to make profit, but really just want to enjoy the expansion and play around with the own fits, run the sites for their own demand and so on.

We’ll see all that and more. This is why I really like this expansion: it is for once something that in its entirety is not predictable. And that’s f*cking great. <3 CCP for this.

p.s. and yes Salvos it will of couse be extremely horrible. All your worst fears will come true. Goons will make Quadrillions and jerk off their gold-plated Avatars over how they won again. And the kids will forget what Faction modules are and pirate faction NPCs will retire to a life in peace, because players don’t kill them anymore. People will get laughed at for still having LP or fitting an A-type. It will be hell. Everything will fall apart. RNG Jesus will throw Bob from the throne and a few years after that we’ll mutate not only ships and entire solar systems, but even ISK. Please, we understand, don’t tell it all again.

And more specifically this:

"but making the game more accessible for those not wanting to put hours in every time they boot it up, "

EVE THEMEPARK MODE BE COMETH, ■■■■■■■ !!!

I so pity all the newcomers who will effectively see their T2 fits double in price over time, that will work out so well in retaining people to the game, yea, make it harder for them to fit their ships, or forcing them to produce their own, what great idea…

As if not enough ■■■■ was exploding already …

And all for the sake of casual soloing carebears who want their own safe little hole to farm in.

This game is going places …

Kek. There is nothing in there that makes EVE a themepark. I recommend everyone to read the entire article, it is pretty good. What Jorad cites is in the last paragraph is a wrap-up by the author. CCP Seagull and CSM Members go into specifics and explain what is happening, why it is happening and where they see room to further improve Abyssal Deadspace in the future.

The game has a lot of loyal players who stay for years, if not decades. All of them have some sort of real life which may or may not include social interaction with others, a family, good stuff happening, bad stuff happening, a relationship, a job, a career, lust for life and so on. Sure, some people might chose to commit their life entirely to the game and that’s fine, but that should never be a precondition to join it or do something in EVE.

There are already a lot of Alliances and Corporations who welcome players whose real life allows them a limited commitment to gameplay only. And that’s great. So it is only logical that CCP follows. You understand that? The players adapt their gameplay so that people with less time can join. And the game company FOLLOWS. It is not CCP introducing this, it is CCP understanding the needs of at least a part of its playerbase.

15 year old game but people have stayed decades huh.

Are you from the future?

Not sure what you’re basing this on other than speculation. More T2 modules are lost daily to combat than will be to mutation. I’m sure we’ll see some temporary price fluctuations and market predation, but this is also an opportunity for more industrialists to get into T2 manufacture.

Ofc equilibrium was found, but at a level where for example DED/LP markets remained tanked.

Ofc we can adapt. But that doesnt mean this isnt again going to severely hurt the DED/LP module market, raise cost of T2 for PvP purposes (make Player NS richer), and create a T2.5 module market that makes PvP more unpredictable.

If we make a generous estimate that there is a 1:10 ratio for a desirable T2 mutation, we can expect 10 T2 to be sunk for every T2.5 module. That is a lot of T2 attrition, that involves zero PvP.

Yes, pretty much.

There is only one winner from this, and its Player NS.

Then do it and stop whining.
T1 blueprints are cheap. Ore is available in high sec. Everything you need is there just like it is for null. Make your own modules and sell the excess. Just like they do.

That doesnt change the consequences of mutaplasmids to this game.
It just confirms them.

T2 prices will rise as T2 mats/modules are sunk.
Player NS will likely run the most Trig pockets, dominate BP market, and generate most non L1 filaments.
Player NS will get even more fantastically rich.
PvP will become more expensive.
PvP will become more unpredictable due to T2.5 modules.
DED/LP market will suffer from introduction of a T2.5 market.

Those are the consequences of this change.
Those are the new conditions you will have to adapt to.

This isnt whining. Its pointing out what is going to happen.
The whining will be from others once they begin to realize what happened.

currently the odds of an acceptable not great mutation mind you is like 1 in 100 plasmids you get maybe 2-3 from a site with the drop rates for tq

Which would involve sinking 100 T2.

You are right, sorry for getting hot-headed.

_Back to the topic. _

Guys, what do you reckon will be the most common places to start an Abyssal Deadspace run and will people try to be safe once they made it through?

Having a burst ecm alt at the spot (suicicde ecm in highsec) to get rid of possible tackle - will that be a thing? What kind of safety measures would people use and how do you plan on spoiling their game?

Deep in Player NS, in the most secure systems.
Just spam filaments every 15mins or so, day and night.

Buy a stack of say 100 L1s, and those will reward you with L2-L5 filaments to run in more safety than your mothers womb.

Okay thanks for your input. It doesn’t tell me anything, but that’s okay.

Edit to explain: it is obvious that it will be safe-ish running it in ones own Sov Null. I’m more interested in what players in other areas of space plan to do and what hunters have in their mind.

It will be super-safe there.
Just get a stack of L1s, park in your safest Player NS system, and spam them every 15mins, all day, everyday.
Hell, you can even invite 10 friends to run theirs alongside you, all in the same system, non-stop.
You don’t have to search or wait for content. Just plop the filament down and go!

Depends on if CCP is stupid enough to reduce the rewards depending on sector, or sector restrict the filament L2-5 access.

Still, it would be pretty stupid to run these anywhere other than deep in Player NS, where the risk of someone engaging you, especially if L4-L5 lead to suspect status on exit, is much higher.

In LS you are practically asking to get wrecked.

So yeah.
Run them deep in the safety of your Player NS core systems.
If anyone tries to touch you, 100 Titans will land on them.

HAPPY TIMES FOR PLAYER NS!

Not only will T2 prices increase due to sink, but they can use their excess for T2.5 market, AND they can run as many Trig pockets deep in their safest sectors, nonstop, until they run out of filaments.

SO MANY BPs, PLASMUTIDS AND L2-5 FILAMENTS, ALL IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR SAFEST SYSTEM!

HURRAY!
They won EVE again! :DDD
