To be fair thou anyone with multiple accounts can affored to pay for subs with pure isk, as money making in this game scales exponentially with alts rather than linear. (if you are actually trying thou and not lazy)
Look at frig abyss as an example with 1 char you can do about 60m/h with 2 you can do 200/hour(100 each) and 3 you can do 900/h(300 each)
No it doesnât unless they roll back a number of recent changes like the mining changes which really are a death knell for the game. So many times CCP have made changes that are negative for the game and the players when they should be only concentrating on updating missions and other content which has remained largely unchanged since I started playing in 2004. The recent mining changes, together with turning some systems (eg Arvasaras) into zero space or removing the gank systems between Jita and Amarr (I have never been a ganker and hate them) are the worst changes ever made to the game thinking theyâd drive more peeps to null without understanding most want HS content over anything else. Running the gank gauntlets were an exciting part of the game but not any more as you have ruined them. The whole Trig thing was crap and has also ruined the game from the day you implemented it. Stop changing the macro stuff CCP and concentrate on updating missions and other content that has not changed in most of the last 19 years. Roll back ALL the mining changes, gank gauntlets and space such as Arvasaras as there was nothing wrong with this part of the game before you changed it.
Well yeah, but you do understand that will be a small proportion of consumers else the market and competition wouldnât push prices down⌠which we know it does. Feel free to start a business around those few people willing to pay double for the same product they purchased 10 years ago, see how you get on.
There is a market for luxury and prestige goods that cost more, the Ferraris of this world, but that is built on product quality and brand strength⌠I donât think CCP really have that kind of pull on consumers.
Cost of living for consumers is increasing, Netflix attempted a price increase and lost 2 million subs and tanked their share price. The cost of living squeeze on consumers is unlike anything in recent times for a number of countries. Much like Netflix is seen as non-essential, an MMO sub is likely in the same realm.
Given current events, I think staying as competitive as possible with the rest of the market whilst the consumer base is likely to contract slightly, would be the most viable way to keep revenues as high as possible. I think a price increase is likely to do longterm harm that will be difficult, if not impossible, to repair once current inflationary pressures are relieved.
CCP will almost certainly be concerned about the above, but have likely projected that the benefit outweighs the risk. Time will tell, I genuinely hope theyâre right, I donât want this game to go anywhere.
Every single company in the world, if they need to increase their revenue long term, reduce their price and increase their expenditures, to increase the quality of their product therefore attract new players. What we see now is the death of a game. They monetized the â â â â out of it, broke the ingame economy. Weâve seen a plethora of new monetization methods since PA took over CCP and very little, if any, gameplay upgrade.
For now they are cashing on the fumes of what it used to be and itâs probably extremely profitable short term. But if they continue on this path, in a year. or 2, or maybe even 3, EvE will be dead. I DO NOT want EvE to die, i would be glad if it survives and thrives for another 20 years or more, and i am not one to call it dead because 500 less people played it today than yesterday. But the community need to open their eyes on what is going on⌠those white knights defending CCP right now are doing the worst thing they can, theyâre accelerating its decline. You donât want EvE to die, nobody here does, but open your eyes and call out the real problems.
OK, hear it is in a nutshell.
WOT, and WOW thatâs World of Tanks & World of Warships, and a lot of other games also play ads on TV.
I see ads for a lot of games on TV.
So why does CCP not advertise on the TV.
A lot of games have far greater player base because of the advertising.
So why CCP does not advertise? If they want more players they should use the TV ads.
Ya Think Daaaa.
What would they advertise? âHereâs our 20 year old game thatâs set in space on a grid, and you will end up dying a lot and they have 10+ accounts to gank you with and we have a quasi political group called the CSM that handles our PR. Meanwhile, our competitors have lush landscapes and role playing where you will have funâ.
They might as well put up a black screen on the TV commercial and say âThis is Eve. You will see this black screen a lotâ.
