[Discussion] PLEX and Omega price changes feedback thread

And for the idiots that don’t understand value with the comment “oh don’t get a latte and you can afford it”. I would be paying $60 a month for three accounts for this game. With that money I could sub one account to WoW or FFXIV (which is all you need) and get sushi every weekend. I’m going to go with sushi and wow until I think the game is worth that cost. Which, given CCP’s track record lately, is likely to be a long time if at all.

Problem is this game provides to reason to justify the price hike. The issues plaguing this game and specifically CCP aren’t something I want to pay a premium for.

Hopefully something like a T2 subscription for just 39,99€ per month.

In case you haven’t listened to @CCP_Paragon Q&A, you should. The basic story is that they are claiming that they will be announcing what he thinks is the coolest thing they’ve done in a long time at Fanfest, and he thinks most of us will think it is worth the price increase. Maybe that’s true, maybe it isn’t, but I definitely didn’t get the impression he was being insincere. CCP has at times actually come out with some amazing expansions. They believe that what they are about to reveal falls in that bucket. I say give them the two weeks until Fanfest.

Respected Capsuleers

Oh this is going to be great…

The past 19 years have seen amazing events that have brought us closer together, delivered vast expansions and game-changing feature enhancements, seen careful rebalancing to bring the best quality of experience, and welcomed technological updates

Really? Because it’s like you don’t even listen to your community at all. It’s so bad that people even protested in the game it’s self.

The tradition of continuous improvements to EVE is set to continue

This isn’t how you go about it.

Players benefit from even bigger monthly savings between lower and upper Omega time tiers, and more PLEX options to choose from

Not even, your grifting your player base unless they spend near the max. Convenient for CCP sure, but to do this now during a Pandemic when many people around the world are still out of work??

We’re committed to bringing you the absolute best version of EVE, and a compelling future for New Eden.

Questionable at best CCP, this isn’t the way to do that. All your showing your player base is that all CCP stands for and cares about is Corporate Greed and trying to con your own players out of more money than your already expensive Micro Transactions.

Your player base expects more CCP, you can deliver.

What strange and bizarre way to run a business, they barely get 26,000 logins a day, the game is slowly winding down to a crawl, and they want to charge more. How odd, maybe it’s a suicide gank?

Games have been around for as long as man has.
They do have a definition and purpose. Mostly best described as a “fun experience” nowdays but to me at least, it seems there is something that got truncated in the middle of that phrase, with the passing of ages.

Games are a method of learning, be that about yourself (you definitely get that in single player games, especially every time you ‘die’) or others but mostly about the world around you and real life in general.
They are essentially to varying degrees, simulations, made easy, as a method of transferring knowledge and wisdom too.

Eve is not easy. A game stays relevant if it has something to offer in the vast universe of todays culture and gaming universe.
I have always struggled with it, not hiding that, so perhpas it is not for me.
At the end of the day if you wanna shoot people, you can play Counterstrike, if you wanna build an empire you play Civ V, and so on.
However the ugly truth is that the only aspect of persistent universe MMOs that was new when they first appeared was co-op (and it is the reason Blizard suceeded to stay on, with WoW). The other aspects, you will have competition from, as a game designer, but from co-op play, you will only have competition from other MMOs. So EvE did not make a great start. It mostly “succeeded” because the space-MMO landscape was barren, and it still is, probably will stay that way. People and especially city people, tend to “like the green”, they miss the trees, so space games without “planet color” is not easy.
I cannot begin to list what is wrong with EvE but i will try. These aspects have not been fixed for ever so do not expect change.
You see when you have people interaction and there is lack of content in an MMO, the only ‘game’ that is left to play is people interaction, hence the scamming that is present in EvE, but mostly the spying which again is messed up, coz there is no unique identity, you can just start another account and these days, buy one too.
The in-game cost remains high. You cannot afford to lose stuff. People do not need another real life job when they play games, and for a long time CCP has used complexity to hide behind their fear of expanding and lack of “content”.
It is no wonder, that the game can potentially be played in a spreadsheet, without any need of visuals at all, like you are in an old-school submarine, or work behind a desk, looking at a screen with real-life information. There is no value in this game having visuals. They are entirely aesthetic.
The line of pvp/pve has been a blur since forever and Concord and response times etc etc are a joke. I honestly do not know what the right recipe is, my MMO experience is limited, but when something does not play as advertised, and it didn’t, and they tried to “fix” it, it does not do for growth, nor longevity, nor persistence of a player base.
CCP however, persisted since it started in early 2000, to do it it “their way”, and it evidently was the wrong way, that is why so many efforts failed. Walking around in stations collapsed as soon as it became evident that the scale of things when it came to ships was wrong. You look at a ship in EvE and its so f sad that you you cannot tell the size of it. I mean the cockpit in the shuttles is obviously in the front of the ship (i hope) but how big exactly is it? You can’t tell. You don’t know. Result: You disengage. Immersion collapses.
Planets collapsed, for the same reason, when they tried to branch in that other CCP game.

Lastly, personally, for so long, I have left and come back, as I probably have and will do in the future, in hope, but one thing has kept me from liking this game since day one. The lore with regards to existence in EvE. Transfer consciousness, pods with wires in your body? ■■■■ that. Prosthetics are a degree of handicap. You don’t need to have an artificial limb to be handicapped, but as with AI in real life (a) we are a long long way off (b) it will never “fit”, life is a natural evolution of the universe, what it is, from “lifeless” stone to sentient beings, if life was meant to be circuits and cables it would have been. It is not and will never be. You can accept it and even do great things with it. But know not to want it, like it too much. In real life. But this is a game. Why handicap people in a game?

Adieu, for now. Ever in hope, something I most probably do share with this game, the people behind it and in it, as they are, not as I might want them to be, with their faults but merits too: When you eliminate relativity, all that remains, however improbable, is the absolute. So ■■■■ Relativity some. (expected result: more FTL!)

Just like every other business. EVERY word in this press release is a lie.

Please explain how ANY of it is actually factually true? How does increasing the price add more value?

Poor show CCP. Will no longer be recommending this game.

Does this mean you now have the money to fix all the little. annoying. bugs?

I hope this wont be billed automatically, I didn’t sign up for random automatically drawn upped price changes. what’s next, “This month we change the price to 400$ due to us wanting more money and less players” ?
This is not a very swift change in a good direction tbh.

@CCP_Swift I have 7 accounts, been playing the game for 14 years and have considerable investment in the game in terms of subs paid and time. I can’t access the discounted prices because of the size of the upfront cash outlay for that number of accounts. Equally as important, I don’t trust you enough to pay for a long term sub, because you keep making irrational game changes (e.g. scarcity), you are not delivering meaningful content improvement in expansions and your company makes statements about future development intent that just don’t inspire confidence (e.g. introducing NFTs).

So, I’ve unsubbed 4 accounts - not in a fit of of rage, but simply because to continue playing the game under your future pricing structure is no longer cost justifiable to me. I don’t think that I am an unusual case.

If you have plans for subscription discounts for multiple account holders, that would be very interesting and may alter my decision. That said, you really do need to work on your corporate communications strategy. It sounds and feels like you’re actively trying to tank your own game.

Which burns first: Jita or Reykjavik?
Can’t wait for this fanfest for not so positive reasons. Will sit back and chill until then.

link please? i just got back into game and still figuring out my wya around these forums.

thnx in advance!

i mean ive been in and out of this game since 2004. theres a reason that the game doesnt have 100k+ players anymore. events like dr who, while severely dropping the loot from the hunt are some of them.

You can cancel auto billing. And the tos/eula says yes you did agree to price changes etc

They are probably employing insurgent tactics too, after they sold the franchise. Change does not happen fast. Lions don’t like to move. EvE was and is a lion, but mostly because there was no one else there (as in space MMOs). Still, amateur hour can’t last forever.

well who knows… what will be the big suprise at fanfest?

a free praxis for every sub (just 30$ per sub) and a Cashcow Sticker for everyone who is still there or more likely if at least half of all alts are gone by than, 40 for a month to get the losses back…

Big Parts of NS already have barely 1 jump or more per day. You think thats empty?
Lets see what the big announce and suprise at fanfest will be… i expect nothing and will still be dissapointet… but i will gladly be proven wrong.

The subscription price for this game is more than others. I mean, 15$ is a lot money for me, rise to 20$? I’ll quit.

But it’s good to see that CCP is open to our feedback. 5 minutes ago we were at 1500 replies and now we are at 1432.

This is it, I am dusting off the chessboard and invite friends to come over and play.

On a serious note.

The best way to cut cost within CCP is to fire all people related to ship SKIN and remove ship SKIN from game.

You need more members that buy a subscription, not chase them away.

To see how dumb the playerbase reacts to this price change you only have to look at the market in Jita. Plex is over 10% more expensive within 8 hours of this news. You know what this means? The total number of players is way too small and now there will be less. Bye bye Eve, it was fun while it lasted.
