Done with this!

It is not a discussion. You can’t discuss with a utter idiot who has the same number of braincells as drop of water.

Well you call this alt a ‘strawman’…

I reacted to this and no…i saying this for years now and i will say it again…i will NOT uncover my main in order to protect it from people like you ingame…

People who cannot differentiate between forum and ingame.

Well…i’m not the only one here who is using ‘strawman’ like this,i personally know a lot of people who use this protection because of the sheer number of morons out there and ingame.

And yes i’m anti goon and anti code…so what?

Learn to live with it…

Imagine being so bad at EVE mining in highsec is challenging for you.

A ‘strawman’ is a tactic employed in discussion to make one’s own argument seem strong by constructing a weak argument the opponent supposedly holds instead of engaging with the actual argument being put forth. You took what Nicolai said:

And created this strawman argument to argue against, ignoring the original assertion that AFK mining is bad for the game:

In any event, if a person can’t afford to be attentive, then he can suspend his mining operation for the duration of the distraction. Docking up or logging off work. Cloaking can work for ships that have those.

Not to construct another strawman argument, but it seems your position is that a person should be able to mine as much as they want without any possible interference, whether they are present at the keyboard or not and whether they’ve taken any precautions or not. If that were the case, people who didn’t have to be there are probably not going to be. People who don’t have to prepare probably won’t.
People who aren’t there aren’t really playing, are no fun to interact with for the duration that they don’t play, and devalue active play of other players by exploiting the same resources without effort.

Eve is a game where you’re supposed to apply yourself in overcoming problems. The ‘board my corvette’ button is as much of a free lunch as I think it should get. You will always have your life, and as many corvettes as you want. Beyond that, it has to be earned, and shouldn’t it be? Don’t we want players to be more meaningful than the ship? Isn’t one way to make players matter to give them a situation where their capacity to think and react is valuable? I think so.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a PvE player, or an Indy player. If that’s what you wanna do, more power to you. You have to do so within the scope of the game’s rules, though, and adapt to whatever wrenches get thrown into the works. It has been that way since forever ago. New systems are born, old systems are changed or eliminated. The game evolves. Some changes I like, some I don’t. Some rules I like, some I do not. They are the rules, though, and I play by them. I turn them to my advantage whenever possible. Other people are doing the same for themselves, or trying to turn the rules against me. That is what we do. That is how we play. That is why we don’t like letting people get away without having to think about what they do. It is antithetical to our idea of what Eve is based on.

Only properly tanked Skiff or Orca will let your ship stay under trigs fire long enough to kill the attackers. Other ship require serious combat ships assistance (so - no solo mining).
Both posted fits from procurer or orca were not properly tanked.
This would let you survive your 2 minutes
[Skiff, trigs cheap]

Capacitor Flux Coil II

Damage Control II

Pithum B-Type Medium Shield Booster
EM Ward Field II
Gistum A-Type Thermal Dissipation Amplifier
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Pith C-Type Shield Boost Amplifier

Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II, Veldspar Mining Crystal I

Medium Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II
Medium Core Defense Operational Solidifier II

Hobgoblin II x5
Mining Drone I x5
Valkyrie II x5

+Full set of crystal implants

But even this skiff will die to roaming trigs, just not that quick. You can bling it so you will survive trigs even afk, but you will be killed by roaming gankers.

Really?

For a noob using his first barge?

In high?

This is EXACTLY the crap i mean…equip like this SHOULDN’T BE NECESSARY IN HIGH…

Bottom line

Why is this so hard to understand for some people?

Wouldn’t it be easier to see that combat is about to occur, warp off, switch to a combat boat, deal with the issue, and come back? Maybe make some friends, have a little fleet, kill the emerging conduit in system? No you’re right, that sounds like effort, and effort is bad.

Not the effort is bad, just the place you have to go through this…again high should be a ‘low level place’ and nothing more, this is the reason why i suggest to cut everything beside mining and lvl 1-4 mission from high and place everything else in low/null including every high end npc like trigs…

If you WANT said effort low and null is the place to go but leave everyone that does not want this ‘effort’ alone and let them roam in a pvp free high…

Low/null is STILL 2/3 of the map so all you will be suffering from is a little less of your ‘pvp content’…

And that’s tolerable…

Hello,

I feel sorry for your bad experience. Even more sorry no one told you that the four Empires are at war with Triglavians who are invading our space. If you want to mine afk I suggest to do that in a FREE Corvette. It’s like free real estate but smaller and can fit a mining laser.

Or you can try to move to a region where there are no triglavians on D-SCAN. So to check, do “ALT-D” then click SCAN and see if any of their ships or structures are present. If not, you can venture on.

The safest place against Triglavians is Jita, the center of intergalactic trade and the backbone of the military of all four Empires. Triglavians decided to completely ignore that in the hopes to get into a “Epires too stupid to actually exist.” youtube video.

Hi Balos.

The OP lost a ■■■■■■■ Retriever, not a Revenant.

A Retriever.

I’m sorry if putting any effort into anything at all causes you anxiety. I imagine you’re still in bed, lying in your own mess, lazily slapping at the keyboard of a laptop that’s about to die because it’s too much trouble to get out and plug it in.

Poor Balos.

Poor Retriever.

It’s all so terribly unfair.

This is not the point…

The point is that the game is forcing people to adapt at a place where it shouldn’t be necessary…

I mean ok…i would see the point that pvp and a ‘challenging game’ is an important point for some people but NOT FOR EVERYONE and -in my eyes- CCP has to address this fact by creating a place where people with, let’s say a ‘smaller scale of challenge acceptance’ can play this game…

As for now the only choice those people have is to leave, something that 95% of all noobies do after the first month(ccp’s own number).

In combination with the already declining number of veterans, especially after the last patch, for months now and subtracted the corona factor everybody with a clear state of mind can see that it is bad for the game to loose 95% of all noobs in the first weeks.

What the game needs are MORE people and, again -in my eyes- my suggested, newly created high would help here…

All that stands in the way of realizing this are the ill minded bittervets that simply see EVERY change of eve as ‘betrayal on the 2005 status, the only and last time eve was great’…

Mining AFK is not the activity, meant for newbees. Anyone in any barge can warp away if gang is warping into his belt. It is annoying as ratting in null with neut appearing in your system, but doable. And if you want to afk mine - you need skills and invest into fit. Skill injectors were introduced to let new people do literally anything in Eve from the day one.

Are you really sweettalking pay2win like skill injectors/extractors?

This is new and shows what getting used to impositions like this really means.

A couple of years ago the mere THOUGHT of stuff like this would have lead to an outrage and now it is ‘normal’?

Here’s a few tips:

  • in systems that spawn Emerging Conduits, there will always be scout patrols
  • triglavians are one of the few npc’s you can detect on dscan, use dscan
  • retrievers/covetors can hardly be called tanky. Even lots of orcas were lost when those patrols started roaming last summer (zkillboard raznaborg damavik)
  • plenty of places to mine valuable stuff solo in a retriever, including hisec, unfrequented by triglavians. Ice and other anomalies come to mind.
