I don’t see any drifters going around.
And especially going around and attacking any Caldari in one way or another, nor tasks from the Navy to launch an operation against them.
Why are we posting signatures now?

For me to know how to address you properly, Sekhmet Alizabeth!!
Because it always was giving me headache and I was afraid to said something wrong…
Ah, the richness! Squealing indeed, Kim. Glad to know my impersonation was accurate.
Entertaining, what’s more, that you seem to decry the ‘ghost threat’ and ‘little genocide’ against what you declare an enemy of the State, when you usually engage in summary execution of those you declare enemies, constant calls for pogrom and purges of them, and the like.
But, well, I’d expect no less a double standard from you.
Although this post will be soon drowned in a sea of senseless scream, I feel this irresistible urge to post here. It’s actually a terrible idea.
The core issue with Vigilant Tyrannos is our lack of knowledge of their overarching motive and the extent of their capabilities. They have demonstrated, in the past, impressive coordination and logistics.
They have not communicated with us. Their motives and long-term goals remain a mystery. They still roam K-Space without much consequence, popping up as they please however far their infrastructure takes them.
We have an abysmal understanding of their end goals or motives. After what looks like a bloody retaliatory strike against Carthum and House Sarum, not to mention the Amarr Empire, they’ve remained quiet - but maintain the initiative. All we can do, for now, is just observe.
So there’s a list, you know, if anyone suggests the primate approach of “If they, I will”. Judging by the way they dealt with Jamyl, if they want Matar or Caldari Prime off the map - there probably won’t be a Matar or Caldari Prime on the map by the time fleets have mobilized properly.
And here, ladies and gentlemen, we can see, why Priano is known as a liar.
I mean… “constant calls”?.. Really? Did I ever make ONE?
You are pathetic, Priano, just as your lies.
Now tell us all, how much you got for spreading such slander about a Caldari officer?
Your propaganda machine can’t stand against facts, Priano, why do you insist to make these forums unreadable by bringing such crap against other speakers?
Haven’t you called for the eradication of the Federation a few times? (Just this morning.)
That counts as a purge, right?

Not an eradication, but destruction. And not a purge, but military victory.
I expected an understanding of what does a professional military operation means and what could be a condition of a hostile defeat (without eradication) from a former marine. In SWA they read us military theory. What academy did you graduate?
Careful there, Kim-haani. I would not like to think you’re insulting me.

To be fair, Makoto brings in a ton of top-notch organization work and proffessionalism at every step. When it comes to the work on Drifters - we owe a lot to her effort to keep ARC on course.
What the hell do you bring to the table, Kimmie, besides screeching that could as well be done by a bot - besides derailing threads where actual discussion is held. This thread was supposed to be about something else but you.
Agreed. It’s wonderful working for Makoto and ARC
Then why are you insulting me, Colonel, asking in public questions that imply my lack of professionalism, where I meant no such thing?
Let us do this thing, I’ll send you SWA textbook on Military Theory, where you will find many ways of destroying a political entity without “eradication” and “purge”, and you in reply will never repeat your mistake again.
Also, you are changing titles like gloves, Colonel.
THIS. IS. CONFUSING!!!

One of the basics of military theory is that any given operation is designed to achieve a military outcome, rather than a political one. It is simple to devise an operation to envelop and destroy the Gallente 3rd armor division, with the desired outcome the elimination of the enemy formation as a fighting fore.
It is much harder to devise a military operation to effect a political outcome. I can think of no operation that would lead to the destruction of the Federation. Even if you wanted them to surrender, rather than to just kill them all from orbit, you can never be sure that your military efforts will result in a surrender.

Well-- that may be, Ms. Nieyli, but, unless they start talking to us (and they seem to be able to-- the Hilen Tukoss impersonation-- they just don’t), our abilities to monitor their doings and try to work out their intentions are kind of limited to further aggression on our part.
Something terrible happened at the heart of Jove space-- Caroline’s Star. Its causes remain unexplained, but the Jove, it seems, are gone. Whatever the Hives are for, whatever their true nature, it’s something huge in a way that is difficult to describe. Even if we come to this with unclean hands, we can’t just let them do whatever they want.
The only reason to openly face an enemy in total silence is if there’s nothing to say, and one of you is going to die.
Not empty quoting.
Is that really surprising though, given the fact that we didn’t say anything at first either, and rather just started shooting?
Assumption made: That they are enemies/hostile. This is not a given nor does it fit their actions so far. That level of technology, fleets that size, their logistical capabilities and so on vastly outmatch what we’ve actually seen from them in terms of hostile action. This counter-indicates the notion of this being an outright enemy. Like I’ve said before, if I had access to that kind of firepower, logistical capability and so on, there wouldn’t be much left of the Empire. tl;dr: An outright enemy would have done so much more, with so much less by now.
Openly facing someone in silence can have all manner of reasons. I don’t bother talking to insects taking nips at me. I don’t bother talking to the stars or infrastructure I use. I don’t bother talking to a lot of things that chitter and chirp at me when I am out in nature. What appears to be a species of infomorph - probably once human, but sod knows what they are now - choosing not to talk to me? I’m going to go ahead and not give them a reason to use body language.
I mean, our first communication was gunfire, salvage drones and desecration. I know the Empire is very fond of the “Kill some, enslave the rest” protocols for First Contact, but it should probably have come to people’s attention by now that this does not make for great relations.
There is still no indication that we’ve gone past the point of no return yet. The fact that they’re not burning every world we’ve set foot on should be a hint in that regard. Why do you insist on racing to see who gets past that point first?
Whether it’s surprising is irrelevant, Ms. Nieyli. Our own aggression, if that’s what brought the Drifters, is something to discuss-- when the Drifters decide to discuss anything.
Miz’s observation that she doesn’t talk to insects isn’t a comforting thought, particularly cross-referenced with your belief that we’re the aggressors here. Let’s say both of you are right. What do people usually do with a home infested with biting insects?
Probably a pesticide treatment doesn’t initially seem very hostile, to an insect. It’s not, like, a big shoe or something you can do much about. Nothing tries to swat you. Some large being moves in, and moves out, and then it’s too late and everyone you know is dead.
(Also, Miz? I kind of suspect that the Drifters will be able to do whatever they like for a very long time without causing you to object so long as they do it to the Empire first. Assuming there are a lot of people who think like you do, that makes going after the Empire first a pretty savvy move. But, the Loki isn’t made from home-grown components any more than the Legion is. Pretty sure you’re not going to get mistaken for a garden full of butterflies in the end.)
Now the Loki is made from salvaged Sleeper components. People have been raiding Sleepers long before the Seekers showed up. The Seekers were peaceful until we started shooting them out of the blue. Only after that did they escalate with a response force, and at that point it was already too late. People are warmongers by nature, and now we perceive ourselves as being in a war, and being the side with a justifiable cause. The truth however, is slightly different. Perhaps the Drifters now see themselves the same way.
And once again, in the grim darkness of space, there is nothing but war.
