Elite: Dangerous have ~400 billions of stars and EVE just only ~7800. Why CCP?!?!?

Well yes, that’s the whole point of a multiplayer game: interacting with other players.

nothing remotely like a frontier to go beyond and actually see something new.

But what are you going to see that’s new? Another system that is functionally identical to the previous system? It’s not like you’re ever going to find anything unique in these hypothetical new systems, the only effect would be to remove player interactions and make it easier for RMT botters to operate.

I SO agree with that but if I need that I play Elite. Plenty of exploring to do there. Only 10% of the galaxy is explored. They got a HUGE universe. In fact, I think it’s a copy of our Milkyway.

omg those guys know all the wonders of new eden
no more plances to be curious
ccp need to make a bunch of new statues

I still doubt youll find an “unexplored” system that doesnt have “First Discovered by Peepants4673” on every damn planet though

i think i was the only guy in elite crazy enough to make his money with transport missions to hutton orbital (3hours rl flight time lmao)

but the thing i hate most about elite is the missing crafting/trade system and that mining stuff has no real meaning or use in the game, u just mine anything and fly to some npc station and sell it for money, thats all u can do with it and thats one of the bigger reasons why i switchd over to eve (missing player interaction, super boring planets and almost no pvp etc a few other reasons but i have many more)

eve gives me everything that most modern mmos cant give me, a real mmorpg sandbox universe were players matter and npcs are just a background tool. this is the real deal!

last games that i played that had the same awesome level like eve were star wars galaxies and ultima online and both games got murdered by their dev teams (sad story)

and about the size of eve, in my opinion its huge enough, sure it could be bigger and ccp might add new zones to the game in the future but in my opinion its not really needed, the game is already pretty big and we dont really need the insane size of elite because it will just reduce player interaction (if we talk in elite size, finding a player can be a really hard task if u dont fly to the starting zones, i never died in elite because pvp and i even asked for it and posted my location in the forum several times and only 1 time a player showd up who just wanted to see if im really there but did not attack me lol) i think stuff like this would suck in eve, but i also can understand the explorer guys who wish for some fresh new systems were u can explore some empty new space, were u dont get jumpd by 50 people, but then again this is a sandbox pvp mmo and elite is a exploration sim mmo

i wish eve would take some features from elite and elite would take some features from eve, this could make both games alot better but well atm im just happy with eve how it is and for me there is no better option atm because most modern mmos suck like hell and are just too casual and boring for me (maybe in 60 if we get star citizen)

The whole point of a “sandbox” multiplayer or otherwise is to do what you want to do in whatever way you want. I see the multiplayer aspect of Eve as a fringe benefit, and because of it I have a bunch of friends. The thing is, most of them I have either seen once in space, or have never seen at all because the only place we interact is in various chat channels.
My primary interaction in Eve is mainly avoiding those who can kill me before I can target them and has been the entire time I have been playing.
You described the problem with Eve perfectly, all celestials, planets, moons, stars, astroids and so on are exact copies of each other, as are stations and so on. Each system has a sprinkling of the exact same stuff with somewhat random player stuff tossed in here and there. After a while, and this is after getting over the fact that there is no real navigation, no physics of any kind, and too much repetition, if you are like me you start to want more, some sense of accomplishment other than some vast hunk of your skill queue finally cooking off and allowing you to fly something you couldn’t before.
I’ve been talking with a friend of mine in Signal Cartel about this problem and she might have and idea that could fix this nicely but only if CCP were to say yes and implement it, she’s optimistic, I give it the same chance as getting them to stop breaking stuff that works. Approximately 0.00000000009% and I base that calculation on my own lack of math skills, and having watched Eve deteriorating since I started playing. What I mean by that is this: when I started playing Eve it felt like there was vast numbers of new places to go, endless things to see, and found that each system had, to some extent, its own personally based partly on the system it self, but also, and more importantly, on the stuff people had put in those systems. CCP’s changes to how stations work over the last year have caused most of these “spam” stations to vanish, I didn’t think of them as spam, I thought of them as someone’s home, I thought of them as places to warp to for repairs, storing stuff, and as a place to make things or just to log off for the night. They are mostly gone now and Eve lost some of it’s personality as a result. That’s just an example, they weren’t in anyone’s way, and getting rid of them also got rid of a bunch of my friends who worked hard to make and maintain them.
Anyhow, the real problem for me is I’m out of things to do, I’m tired of jumping through gate after gate after gate knowing that no mater where I go, even in wormhole space, it will be very much like where I have just left.
Eve, because of this stuff is becoming, for me anyway, a very expensive chat room. I have IRC and Discord, what the hell am I thinking?
Anyhow, I’m not bitching here, even if it sounds like I am, what I am doing is thinking about how to fix this and personally I don’t think that conflict and destruction are the way to go in this case. There’s plenty of both already.

I’m curious about that game, but I hesitate to dive into another massive time sinc when I suspect that Eve could be changed in some small, and potentially not so small ways to make it truly vast.
However…
I’m still very very curious

I found two. Sorry if that contradicts you but it’s the truth. I found several unfound planets and a bunch of unmapped planets and I’ve visited about 50 systems so far.
I’m sorry if that contradicts what you said but don’t be mad me, it’s just the truth, ok?

well if exploration is ur main type of thing then elite will be pure gold for you!

but if u want anything like in eve, alot of playinteraction, crafting and trade system, alot of pvp then u will miss alot in elite

sure elite has pvp too and u can also mine asteroids (which is pretty fun and looks awesome) but in the end it has no real meaning, pvp is quite rare(atleast for me) and mining stuff has no real use because u just sell it to npcs

were the game shines is exploration and the ship flying itself and the universe is a rl copy in size of our own milkyway galaxy

u can find all sorts of rare stuff, aliens, space stuff etc and dont forget u can land on planets and drive around in ur little space car and soon frontier wanna add spacelegs addon (u will be able to walk around in space stations and on planets) and the feel of flying ur spaceship is really good and fun!

but in my opinion if i compare both games with each other eve online wins for me but thats only because im looking for a mmorpg with alot of player interaction, crafting and freedom of pvp and eve seems to be one of the last official mmos who can provide that to me (not counting swg or ultima online emu servers)

for me eve is just the better game overall but thats just me, i think there are alot of people who prefer elite but it depends on what u want and like more

Even if they let us have inflatable dwellings (mentioned in the manual!) That would be a great start

It would be strange if you can find 100+ local in a middle of nowhere.
And you dont faced PvP in Elite maybe cuz you play solo mod?
Bubble enough populated to face PvP in Elite. Same as all major hubs and routes in EVE.

never playd solo
open mode only

but u are right that would be strange but still a awesome event, just think about u a searching for some special type of asteroid to mine and suddenly u see a giant battle of 2-3 diffrent groups of players and u are now right in the middle of it, such random player events would really fresh up the day to day exploration gameplay, but thats my special taste of gaming

and i know its possible(not as huge fights like in eve but 80 ships fighting it out still looks fun) but because the extreme size of the elite galaxie stuff like this is quite rare (for me atleast sadly^^).

edit:

yea like i said u will only find people in the starting areas, in the bubble but not much in other areas

when i unlockd the sol system i was super happy to visit earth etc but after i went there it was abit dissapointing because i was the only player there, stuff like this is a huge downer for me (and yes, im always making sure to play in ‘‘open mode’’ because if elite dangerous only had solo mode i would have never bought the game^^ i bought it for its ‘‘mmoprg’’ features but in my opinion its not a real mmo but more of a explo sim with multiplayer option but not a player controlled galaxie like in eve which i prefer

sure finding a player is not impossible but finding random pvp with a good number of people is pretty hard in my opinion, and no im not talking about flying to the bubble and attack a newbie, im talking about random seeing some other people fight and joining the battle ( i never had that in elite so far)

in eve it takes me just a few minutes to find some decent pvp + all the insane corp/community battles with huge numbers which arent even possible in elite because the sharding population cap ( i think its between 15 and 80 players in elite depends on the system u are in but im not 100% sure about the numbers!)

but yea in the end we shoudl not forget that elite isnt a pvp sandbox mmo like eve. elite is more like a exploration space sim with coop/pvp option but i would love if frontier would add a nice crafting system to elite so mining asteroids and stuff would have a meaning

It’s less about what people do to get off and more to do with the core design of eve.

Eve is designed to put players against eachother. To fight over space, resources and the best market prices.

It isn’t a space exploration sim.

And to make it one, to add all these extra systems for players to spread out in, would be detrimental to competition. It takes away from the core design.

And you are.

But it’s another thing entirely to ask that eve throw it’s main design features out and replace it with a new one.

New eden is just a cluster of stars, not the all galaxy

Elite is the entire galaxy

So we need our galaxy back then.

I don’t know wether this is promoting the other game mentioned, or trying to be nice to this game.

Hopefully the latter

It really isn’t. “Sandbox” just means that the game doesn’t provide a linear path for you to follow. It doesn’t mean that literally anything you want to do is possible.

I see the multiplayer aspect of Eve as a fringe benefit

Then EVE is not the game for you. You’re bored because you’re ignoring 95% of EVE’s content, try engaging with other players and the game will become far more interesting.

Just pay wingspan to find it for you, you already know which system its in, they will charge a fee but they are generally good at what they do
