In addition, today, no matter how many times I restart the EVE Launcher, this message reappears.
Can you launch EVE otherwise?
Unrelated, the tactical map is at least fixed now (has been for a few days apparently, but I didn’t feel like logging in to check).
Yes, game launches, but still dealing with weird graphical issues.
The launcher fails to update itself. It keeps redowloading the single update over and over again. I’ve posted this on 4 different threads and I haven’t seen CCP acknowledge the existence of this bug/problem. In order to get in the game I open the launcher, launch EVE, and then quickly kill the launcher before it redownloads significant data. I can’t afford to have it download 300MB every 5 minutes!
@Meridan_Night same happens here.
Lag is still really really bad for me. It doesn’t appear to be a RAM problem: Activity Monitor shows memory pressure is fine. Five clients total about 24 GB, and I have 32 GB.
What I mean by “lag” is a lot of delay in the interface. Let’s say I need to put 5 toons through a jump gate. So, I click the window for one client, wait 2-4 seconds with my mouse hovering over overview until the highlighting appears, click the gate, wait a couple of seconds for the Selected Item window to update, and click jump. Then with the next client, etc. Anything I try to select, activate, etc, I just need to wait a few seconds for it to register. After I’ve cycled through all five clients I need to go back and verify that they all jumped. Very often one of them will not have jumped–possibly it opened something completely random like the Planetary Industry window or some other window I haven’t looked at for years and wouldn’t even know how to find. Click that window, wait, hover over the X, click it, the window closes, hover over the overview, wait a few seconds for highlighting to appear, select jump gate,…
Not long ago I was mining aggressively with this many clients, this same computer, 4 hulks+porpoise, transferring to fleet hangar every single cycle on all 4 hulks, replacing burnt crystals, running compression cycles every 5 minutes or so. As long as graphics were disabled it was responsive. Now I am struggling to jump a gate, so that’s really disappointing. I’m trying to accept that I’ll need to cut back to 2 clients. That hurts.
I’ve resorted to just doing dailies, for the most part. Unfortunately I chose to skip the omega discount sale because I’m unsure whether or not this will be fixed/solved.
It’s fixed for me - but I’m also running a newer system.
Well mine is only about 2 years old. M1 Max with 64G of ram ought to easily run 3 clients on high settings without much effort, but I still get the weird graphic glitches around gates and stations even with everything on low. If I had epilepsy I’d be dead cold right now.
I’m able to run 3x clients on my Mac Mini M4 (16GB unified) on a Studio 27" Display set to 2880x1620 (I’ve also run a non-native 3840x2160 with SwithResX4 that didn’t seem to impact performance). All clients are run in window mode with various settings and resolutions (listed below), 110% UI scaling, V-Sync on, AMD FSR 1.0 upscaling and set to performance:
• 3200x1800: L, H, H, H, H, H, L, x, L, L (1st 4 effects)
• 1400x810: L, H, H, H, H, L, L, x, L, L (1st 4 effects)
• 1400x810: L, H, H, H, H, L, L, x, L, L (1st 4 effects)
The only differences being the resolution size of each window and the main client running a high level of detail setting. I’m getting close to ~60FPS on each unless I’m in Jita - where I take a ~25-30FPS hit on each client.
If I set the FSR to quality I get a noticeable frame drop without seeing any detectable improvement (at least with these particular graphic settings).
I can’t remember which ones I’ve tried, but in the “all high” configuration I’ve been running for years now, control + f always shows me a reliable ~60fps
Edit: I should note that I do not use FSR/Upscaling. It’s off.
Try turning that on. When that was broken (disabled) for about a week, I was getting about 1/3 the frame rate until CCP patched it and we could enable it once again. I don’t know if it will take you back to the previous performance levels you experienced, but I think it should be close.
I’ve also tried using Upscaling and it still displayed the disco lights. By the way, I’m not having any performance issues (that was @Jeb_Hataska ) but I am seeing the red/pink/yellow/blue polygons around gates and stations – basically anywhere there are billboards.
Yeah, I don’t have any suggestions for the polygon disco effect - not something I’ve experienced.
What do we reckon fellow Mac users, will today be the day the funky polygons get fixed?
I gather yesterday’s patch didn’t resolve it?
Neat. It will be time to look at open core legacy patcher soon then!
With all the recent graphics issues, I’m not even sure you could reliably run EVE on anything preceding a 2014 build anyway… At least other than potato mode.
