EVE Is Dangerous. Yeah Right

Which is ironic… because they’ve done exactly nothing towards that goal so far. Am I right?

CCP could bubblewrap everything, monetize the ■■■■ out of everything, and meet their stretch goal with an influx of millennials. Easy. But the game would die shortly afterward when they get bored and leave again, because there’s nothing special or exciting. And that would make PA very unhappy because they just effectively spent $425m on garbage.

Or… CCP can follow their vision, the same as they always have, and produce a game that’s meant for people who like getting punched in the gut every time they make a mistake (and kicked in the ass even when they don’t), and keep that steady niche $$ going strong like it presently must be, to keep both their PA overlords happy AND fulfill their own vision.

Why would they do that? There is no PvE version of BDO so why would PA make a PvE version of Eve? If they did, you are correct - we would have a repeat of the ‘Trammel Incident’ and have a splitting of the player base, depletion of the players counts on TQ, followed by a rapid death of both TQ and the new server as one suffers from a lack of targets while the other a lack of economic demand.

CCP/PA isn’t going to do that. I am afraid Eve Online is going to limp on as a single-shard PvP game until the lights get shut off a decade or two from now. There will never be a PvE server nor will TQ be transformed into such. Even BDO is a full-on PvP sandbox game so I don’t know why anyone expects Eve to be transformed into anything else.

“Eve will be milked for years more, largely as it is. If PA sees the opportunity for a larger market share, they are going build new PvE games set in New Eden, rather than risk a successful game on such a risky Frankenstein project.”

I was replying to you, you were saying and I quote “They are going to build new pve games set in new Eden” So my response was a pve version of Eve the majority in high-sec will migrate. You’re a hypocrite.

They will. There will be all sorts of PvE games like Gunjack and Valkyrie. But none will be an actual PvE version of Eve. Even this Eve:Echos separate shard PvP mobile version of Eve seems like a poor idea right now.

There is plenty of room to make new PvE games in the Eve universe. We are getting the alpha version of one this month with Project Nova even if it might have a PvP mode. But there will be no splitting of TQ even if it would be an interesting experiment. No one at CCP is that clueless or desperate for that, at least not yet.

You are wrong, at some point they will because quite frankly the market is there and it takes years to get into the big ships peopla just want to build and fight npc’s maybe intoduce lvl 6 missions as well. With little to no other player interaction. Minecraft has made billions doing just that.

Why do both sides of the spectrum keep insisting that only the farthest reaches of their part of the spectrum contains the correct answers to “solve” EVE? Do certain mechanics and gameplay in EVE need to be tweaked or adjusted to allow for more even gameplay and add to player retention? Yes. Do we need a fundamental change in the core idea that created EVE such that PvP is fully eliminated from an entire area of normal space? No. Effective, but small course changes are warranted to make EVE a better game, not a 180 come about or veering randomly like you’re dodging a torpedo attack. However, neither can we stay the current course for that heads toward danger. Are there only two camps so anchored in their polar reaches that accord cannot be reached; that there are so few of us in the middle?

Think most people are in the middle.

It’s just the vocal minority venting their opinions on the forums.

It doesn’t, thanks to skill injectors and plex.

Are you deliberately trying to drive people away?

This isn’t Minecraft.

Look I don’t care either way not many days left then i’m out. Of course i don’t want a pve version of the game it would be ■■■■, if you cannot see im playing devils advocate then you should keep away from the forums. The game is BROKEN plain and simple.

If I wanted someone around who would say anything just to get the last word in, I’ll get married again. You I would probably have to put on a diet. So give it up.

Crap…I think you might be right…crap

Poor EvE :disappointed_relieved:

We’d have to know what the goals are before we speculate what ccp ‘has’ to do.

FTFY

Marriage requires two people.

Yes dear

First of all I am very unskilled at PVP, and I am a target. However playing EVE without PVP would be more boring than watching paint dry. PVP adds interest to the game. To me it is fun not knowing when you might get attacked. Also by talking to the player that just blew me into a thousand pieces I have found they are very helpful and have plenty of good advice.

So get over your fears and enjoy EVE for what it is.

Can I have your stuff?

You aren’t a majority, you are a little tiny minority [much like your brain cells] that is too big for their boots. If you were a majority then people here would mostly agree with you, here’s a hint, they don’t. Surely you would have worked out that small detail by now. I guess not and really that just shows what you really are, a minority and stupid to boot.

I started reading this thread just totay… and it really got out of hand, as such discussions usually do :joy:

I would too like a safer HS! Prohibiting PVP would still ruin the EVE-Feeling. PVP should always be possibele and has to be, to keep the game going & fun.

The only way I would see some kinde of mitddleway ist to make PVP in HS less attractive so you can still be relatively safe there, while still be a possible target if you are worth it. I can’t come up with the magical solution how that would work, but keeping HS as unsecure as it is (while ok for me) will always stay a problem for gaining new players. I would like EVE to have more players! And banning PVP from HS can only result in a great damadge to the general feel of EVE, that makes it so unique.

[EDIT) Funny idea: How about in 1.0 and 0.9 your platinum-insurance actually pays what you lost

Funny idea: How about that Eve grove to more than just PVP …

my most basic sum would be the following.

Player wants xxxx dead, player pays yyyy’isk for a contract stipulating extra rewards if isk% of rewards for a, b and c. Player who wants xxxx dead really gonna want it dead.

‘merc’ corp has to buy contract for say half of yyyy the other half goes to concord as does and extra payment ‘merc’ corp has to make for wardeck to go live.

Mercs wont accept contracts that pay very little or unlikely to yield very small results. Players less likely to throw wardecks around (including mercs that blanket dec or harass little corps)

'course if merc corps were payed on the kills they make, theyd also be far more likely to head out into other regions and actually hit structures and so on; people like getting paid more often than they like getting killmails.

With wardecks then entering a more structured plain to see (even those decked) mechanic but with slightly convoluted setup process its becomes less easy to just click ‘dec’.

Course that doesnt help the decked corp once their decked but theres a dozen small changes that could easily resolve those sorts of conflict for high and lowsec; being empire space… theres no real simple solution tbvh; but were not playing the game with simple people… if we were it would be truly dull af… simple people need simple one point fixes, complex games with intellectual people need far far more.
