EVE Online Ecosystem Outlook

I 100% can relate to this post, however there are alternatives that fill in the gap that is now left by the moon mining nerf.

For now I hope that CCP has a plan to fix this and understand their mistakes. If not then i’m sure the loss of subs will convince them that this was a bad idea in the first place.

ccp thinking some thing through before making that leap and dropping it in game ya that would be a first

I’m cautiously enthusiastic about the road map, although I remember the “building star gates and exploring new areas of space” from half a decade ago all too well. This can only work if the plan is followed through to completion. If not then the game would be left in a worse state than now.

Will scarcity or redistribution of resources be a viable conflict driver ? Perhaps if enough parties survive the first onslaught - if it happens - or we may end up with a blue donut for real this time, something most of us agree would be a bad thing for the game, even the large cartels. I’m curious what will be the measures taken to prevent that from happening, how it will be monitored and adjusted. Fascinating prospect, crowd control at its best.

Only if hisec mining is prevented from being the first obvious escape from the route ahead can this work. Moreover, the introduction of moon mining in hisec was a game changer that perhaps intensified the pressure on the economy, in a mostly risk free fashion because of Upwell structure properties, holdings, hisec security and wardec mechanics. Taking some of that back was long overdue.

Carriers and titans should be remade into different Dreadnaughts and scaled with Sub cap or removed altogether imo.

And filaments should warp people to Thera.
Thera then being made into the pvp outlaw hub it was supposed to be.

This is just a bunch of BS. I have a hisec mining corp. We have players including me that have had enough of null and losec. We just want to mine and do pve or whatever. With the moon mining changes we don’t have other options. We did extremely limited wormhole stuff and i’m sure we’ll do even less now as there will be more competition. We did some losec but that will be less as well. Whom asked for more conflict? We certainly didn’t. That’s why we’re in hisec.

As most games do they have the uncanny ability to only listen to a few and because of that they ruin their game. Or they make rash decisions without all the data. You need to cater to everyone and not just some. Determine what people actually enjoy doing in the game and what they don’t enjoy. Just a quick list of what i enjoy and what the majority of the people in my corp enjoy.

Mining in HiSec <—enjoy (or well we did before but not now)
Mining in LoSec <—not a fan (will do on weekends to support our alliance only)
Production <—enjoy
PVE in HiSec <—enjoy
PVE in LoSec or Null <—not a fan
PvP anywhere <—not a fan

Now ofc all of our HiSec moon mining structures will be taken down. There’s certainly no reason to have them. Unless and until the r4 goo is used for manufacturing. And while we’re at it why in gods name would you not have a use for the r4 goo when you did the mineral changes. Saying you will do it later is extremely poor planning .

I found it extremely difficult to even log on today. I’m sad that me and my wife are paid thru some time in June. I regret very much having paid up that far ahead. We both cancelled our subscriptions . I certainly hope ccp wakes up and looks at what all the people in the game do and or want to do. I can take change and have over the years. But when i have no answer for my corp mates about what we’re going to do today and the foreseeable future it’s damn upsetting.

Get a clue ccp

It seems to me if people like yourself like to pve in safety, just stick to hi sec which is the none pvp zone.

Could this be the real problem with EVE? If all the players want la-te-da through game, then the game is sunk. AND NO, I’m not saying all players want to do this, just a thought…

One of the biggest isssues I see here is treating null as a whole, when it is immensely diverse.

When people favors null nerfing or adressing the “null problem” they all think of the blue donut null, full of -0,8 / -1,0 systems brimming with multiple sanctums and havens permafarmed by supers.

A myriad of R64 moons and level 5 ore anomalies fully cleared in minutes by dozens of rorquals protected by a super umbrella… and that is not the full truth of nullsec.

There are null regions with no systems lower than -0,4 Full of systems with 0 to 1 sanctum and three havens, constellations so low populated that it is impossible to get an industrial index reach to 5, Regions in which the best a corp can get is some R16´s, Zones in which your ratting carrier ( the super is not even considered ) has a very real chance to die because the blue response is late and limited, systems in which the rorqual cant barely break the even point in proftability considering the heavy water, the low isk ores, and the inevitable loses… Hell, there is difference even in PI, try getting a white hotspot of felsic magma in a 0,0 - 0,4 system…

And yet, things like the anomaly spawn nerf, the fighter damage nerf, the drone yield nerf, the moon nerfs… hits all null equally.

@CCP_Dopamine
What about the ice miner? You can still multibox with a lot of rorquals and earn a lot of ISK. Will it be adapted at some point, or will other rules apply, because fuel is so important?

I don’t recall us seeing evidence of subscription numbers going down, just daily logins going down. That doesn’t necessarily translate into people ending their subscriptions, but if I’m misremembering, let me know.

Hisec is not none pvp zone - although it does have highly reduced pvp activities.

Then wouldn’t it make sense to make hi sec smaller, the starter zone, none pvp zone.
Would silence the care bear cries tbh…

How much are you in for, commander?

It would also make sense to make filaments to teleport people to Thera. Instead of random. It makes the universe too small removing the travel compoment of play. Also removes world pvp much like how flying mounts ruined it for Wow along with Instant battlegrounds…

You often make incorrect statements, apparently just to have something to argue about, or perhaps because you can’t deal with more than 6 months of data at a time.

Keep in mind that the ‘steady upwards trend’ you’ve referred to multiple times is simply the player population climbing back out of the hole dug by CCP in 2019, which reached its’ lowest level during Blackout.

We’re still not back to even where we were at the beginning of 2019. In fact we’re at population levels that go back to roughly the beginning of 2006 to find numbers this low. If it weren’t for ‘stay home or die’ scares the numbers would be even worse.

CCP has a good long ways to go before they can begin claiming anything other than “we’ve recovered most of the numbers we chased out of the game in 2019”.

Honestly, you really dont have to join a corp at all unless you are looking to own space. Abyssal deadspace, exploration and running lvl 4 missions are all profitable activities that can be done solo. Now if you want to own a wormhole and/or nullsec space then naturally you need to be in a corp but, outside of that, not at all

Ok? And?
None of this makes my statement that there has been an upwards trend in PCU from before Covid lockdowns began any less true.
Sure lots of people left the game (assigning reasons why they left the game other than your very limited number of friends, that’s pure speculation, since CCP exit information shows trends are often other than we think for why).

But regardless of that, they are getting climbing PCU, and it is likely at least some of that climbing PCU is actual new players, not old ones returning. Their Dev blog certainly seems to be indicating they have new players and they should know.
