Event Feedback - Guardian's Gala 2019

So… @CCP_Falcon…we are almost a week into this glitched and broken iskdrain of an event, and still no serious reaction other than the obligatory ‘we’re looking into things’. Other than that, no communication, no nothing.
I thought you guys vowed for better playercommunication a little while back? How much more bad press and angry paying customers does it take to get you guys to give us (at the miminum) a headsup that you’re doing something about this? Or even tell us that “everything is working as intended so HTFU”?

Here take this, it’s dangerous to go alone

Yeah no, that went out the window into a volcano with the “VR” layoff they did when they broke even blaming people are ready for VR when they have to invest in better hardware for their computer + an expensive headset + a game and side stuff.

Alot of fallout from the VR fiasco was wonderful words from many devs that worked community area that got lay off with what was suppose to be VR devs

What happened exactly again?
The VR games I know about are Valkyrie and Sparc.
Valkyrie went back to “normal” quite soon, and I didn’t hear anything new about it lately.

Sparc to me is a mystery. It’s out since 2017 August(PS4)/November(Steam). No one ever talks about it. Was it even mentioned on E3? It should have become an E-sport by now. What happened? I only know about the PC release because I googled for the game right now!
Seriously, what happened?

After leaving investors financing phase, something like pre IPO phase, we said that CCP finances are unsustainable and something must change.By the departure of the original investors who constantly brought fresh money into the CCP, the opportunity of the current CCP business model and behavior has gone.

When we tried to warn and save Eve we were stormed, ganked and overrunned by comments like “GO AWAY, This is OUR Eve and everything will stay same like last 15 years.” You missed last opportunity to steer Eve in new beter direction, you want status quo and at the end of the day we got worst possible changes in Eve. Where was CSM, do they “approve” this event ???

Seems like resting somewhere wishing to forget everything EvE related.
As it is now – almost 1000 posts and NO reply (I don’t count a “reply” as a REPLY from Falcon).

Hmmm… And, btw, why not? They sold it. SOLD OUT EVE. WHO CARES!?

@CCP_Falcon
So CCP, there are some serious questions within this thread here as well as others, and not just here but everywhere and in the game included.

In light of this event being ■■■■■■ so badly, I don’t think its worth even attempt at fixing it anymore, just let it die ASAPand concentrate on the next one instead. So what can we expect for next events ? Is the downward slide in both design and execution going to continue ?

Some questions from me, but which have been asked by quite a few people making up a sizable portion of players:

  1. Are future events going to be new player accessable or remain vets or injected only ?
  2. Are future events going to try to force newbies to use injectors into mining ships ?
  3. Are future events going to try to force newbies to multibox by depawning sites so quick after a clear that you can’t even switch a ship or character ?
  4. Are future events going to have lootboxes ?
  5. Are the accelerators going to remain at these stupid rediculous rates ? If you don’t want them in the game why not just remove them altogether and replace with something else ?
  6. Do you, meaning CCP, understand where you went wrong with all this or not yet ? How many sub cancellations and people stopping to plex or even log on is it going to take for you to grasp this ?

I understand there were too many accelerators in the game and that they cut into injectors, thus $$, so you wanted less of them by far. If it truly was / is this bad, then instead of making them this hard and rare and leaving so many players so disappointed to such an extent, would it not be better to just flat out remove them entirely and replace them with something else instead ?

This way you will not have to screw up the events so horribly, especially for non-mining players.

Speaking of mining, I understand there was an attempt to make miners more included, but that absolutely does not mean you should have excluded all non-miners and there is a difference between what feels like an optional and inclusive way of doing it and what feels like having it shoved up your ass and being forced to inject for it and now even plex and multibox due to site despawn mechanics.

Do you, CCP, understand this ?

Sold. out. Who cares?..
Maybe… Really, why not!? Maybe that’s how they are (EvE devs) are trying to show the new OWNER of CCP (CEO or what else role) how they are needed and their work should be respected and well paid?..

Meh, can’t say everything I want – my native is Russian and English is very bad.

I care, I don’t want this game to become so bad that it forces people to quit or not play, no matter from which perspective be it PvP or PvE alike. If I didn’t care I would not have made this post. And I guarantee you there are plenty of other people that care as well.

Seems like there is a Game behind the scene.
And we just can’t this understand without knowing the truth.

EvE was not such crap before. Never saw such fault from CCP in events and all other ingame small things. Never CCP was so distanced from players as it’s doing now.

■■■■ happens. And a big one is happening right now, I believe. ) Sorry if I making you think in my direction :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a bit drunk today…

Its good only for screenshots.

Well, no one has a full picture of it, but there are many things that anyone with half a brain and a bit of reading and seeing what is going on in the game can easily put together. 2+2 does equal 4 after all. Here, have 2 bits right now, there is a ton actually but you really will need to search and look for them, in the meanwhile:
World of Darkness - the inside story on the death of a game | Games | The Guardian this is quite a read, its long, lots of info there.

Some latest on subject from reddit:

Having spoke to a Dev there does exist a 1% in Eve that contributes to something like 25% of the income subscription.

I asked, what are the whales buying in game? He replied cryptically that CCP makes a lot from whales buying alliance support and infastructure. So I took that as Bridge titans, jump freighters, t2bpo and structures alongside the alt accounts used to run. I excluded rorqs as they paid for themselves pretty quickly.

I also asked if they had any mega whales 100k $ or more and he said yeah. How the ■■■■ can you spend 100$k on eve?

But that is Reddit so take it with a grain of salt and squint while looking at it and reading it. Reddit - Dive into anything post link.

Since you’re drunk and have not much else to do, I highly recommend it.

Wow… Dude, this isn’t gambling!

Gambling has a chance of getting you something special that made the gamble worth it to begin with!
This thing we have here is just plain and simple a SINK HOLE!
You are not supposed to gain from it, it’s just to waist ISK… WTF happened in CCP for them to creat an event with the solo objective to sink the oak accounts?!

Does anyone think that CCP might be monitoring the number of players willing to either participate in a losing proposition even knowing that it is almost a guaranteed isk loss or are willing to spend RL money to keep funding chances to hit it “big” , thinking that maybe this time they’ll “win”?

Even the known problems of this event hasn’t seem to slow the flow of certain type of players from engaging in this event. Expect the next event to be even more finer tuned to encourage whale participation. We are all part of a very active experiment in social and behavior engineering, we all just have to individually decide if the bits of cheese at the end will satisfy the trials we are and will be undergoing.

Some people do it compulsively. Thats actually bad, I would advice to make some therapy like turning EVE off and wait until event ends.

This event is truly an epic fail:

  • Loot boxes - This idea should be taken out back and shot, and its corpse burned. Any member of CCP’s staff who suggests it again should be immediately fired.

  • Requiring ore to be mined and reprocessed from three sites just to cash in a ticket that can be obtained from every site is beyond stupid. This is especially true since those same mined resources are also needed for accelerator BPCs.

  • Logistics for cashing in the boss loot (gala tickets) were more complex than getting the loot in the first place. Anytime a game element is structured this way, there is a significant chance that it will kill any “woot factor” unless the loot is amazingly valuable. That was the case in this event, especially since it looks like the gala tickets are either a net loss for players if used or at least have far too much risk of that happening.

Ultimately, this event has no woot factor = no fun = boring. I’ve had root canals that were more entertaining than this event.
