Event Feedback - The Skilling Spree Returns!

Security missions…they are worth it

I don’t mind the whole “Skill Spree” event. I don’t get why so many complain about it.

I mean, I do understand that the current goals are meaningless. “kill x amount of rats” is pretty poor.

Personally, I wonder, what would be a “good” system? What goals could be put out there for people to achieve in a reasonable amount of time?
Could these goals be different for different play styles and then potentially chosen by the player?
For example a miner might choose a goal of mining xm3 of a specific ore.
An industrialist might choose to produce x amount of a particular ammo.
A PvP’er might choose number of kills.

Also, each goal could be levelled to remove the randomness.
So level one would be easy and have a small reward
Level two moderate with moderate reward and level three very difficult with a large reward.

Or CCP could replace the skilling spree with SP rewards for doing things in activity tracker. So completing first level of anything within activity tracker would grant you 10k SP, and for completing every subesquent level you would get double the SP reward of the previous level. That would really encourage new players to try different stuff in EVE to speed up their training of essential skills.

Wasn’t that event supposed to go until tomorrow? The event window showed 2 more days on it yesterday and today it ended.

Only 7 days or rewards, but 9 says to get them. So you can miss day and still get all the rewards.

Ah cheers!!

Dear CCP,

I really think Skilling Spree really should be on a “per-account” basis rather than a “per-character” basis.

Logging in alt characters just to get free sp really sucks the fun out of this game and breaks the immersion. Doing the skilling spree on my alts takes up too much of my valuable game time. It’s really starting to feel like a grind and I just want it to go away already.

So, CCP, to keep your customers more engaged, please seriously consider giving 3x the rewards, but limit skilling spree to once per account rather than once per character on all future Skilling Spree events.

Thank you.

Hey bro, nobody is forcing you to run all your characters through the skilling spree tasks.

Having it be once per account is like the Bonus SP Log-in event we just had. Personally I don’t like that type of event because you don’t even have to proceed past the character selection screen to collect the bonus skill points. At least the skilling spree tasks require you to actually log into the game and do something.

Personally I think it would be much better if there was a selection of various tasks to choose between, such as a combat task, a mining task, an exploration task, a production task, a courier task, etc. They would all have the same base skill point reward amount and could be set up to randomly offer higher task / reward amount like the current system.

Anyway, I run my 11 characters through the skilling spree tasks everyday, takes about 2 hours to complete and I’m actually starting to get bored of constantly looking for NPC’s to kill, would be nice to have different tasks to complete instead of constantly doing the same thing over and over again.

But hey, I choose to do that and will continue to do it because I like collecting free skill points.

Well, I just witnessed an unexpected behavior from an NPC Frigate in an Asteroid Belt.

I’ve been running most of my newb Alt characters in Corvettes, a few are in Frigates and Destroyers. I myself have been doing most of the tasks in a Dramiel Frigate. All of the NPC’s that I’ve encountered have stayed on the attack to their bitter end.

Anyway, I just switched ships into my T3 Loki Cruiser to do a mission later on after this skilling spree is over. After warping around some Asteroid Belts, I found 3x Angel Frigates and proceeded to lock and fire on them. Of course they all responded by attacking but after I killed the first two, the third one warped out just as my weapons started to fire on him.

So yeah, that kinda surprised me. Course I don’t blame him for warping out, I would have done the exact same thing.

Yeah I had that a few cases since some time and I think the unusual warping out NPC has a different name than the rest at least as I recall, so based on that it might be some new belt rat that was introduced the past year or so, at least haven’t encountered it earlier.

I can feel it just as well. this Event (or is it forever?!) took out all the fun of playing. Because the rewards are so good I try to do it on each toon - and yes, I am easily addicted - so I don’t have any time left to actually play the game any more.
I know it is MY choice to do it or not but ccp knows exactly how to hook people to this kind of crap.

Well, I’m running 11 characters thru the skilling spree and I’m actually spending more time now in-game then when the event first started. As most of my 10 newbie alt characters get trained up, I’m also setting them up with better equipment (ship and modules), so I’m now doing more than just logging them in for a quick NPC kill.

I have seen frigates do that before in belts, and from what I understand it means that the ship that warped off was an officer spawn that just looked like a regular rat. I have had a couple 70+m implants drop from them while working moon goo.

I don’t think having a series of daily quests would be bad. Would love it if they expanded. What if they gave out increasing rewards on consecutive days, expand the pool of what you can get from sp to isk to bpc, etc. yah let’s have some rare free ■■■■ thrown out give us monty haul. Omega only, must have mtc running for alts. CCP gotta eat too you friggin alphas eating pizza and freeloading.

I had it worse a few times when I lived in Stain. Here I was ratting in the belts and warp into a nice group of Sansha only to see them warp off the second I can interact with the grid, so I thought okay might be coincidence.
Yeah, nope! For the next few belts and systems I had all the spawns warp away from me the second my Phantasm landed :frowning:

Maybe I am too intimidating for regular NPCs??

Yeah I had the same thought as well.

Today was my first day when I got 50.000 SP task from the beginning of the event.
CCP I would like to suggest to make tasks for 25.000 SP and 50.000 SP more often please. Thank you!

I get the 25k and 50k tasks quite often, course that’s spread out across 11 characters. I’d say on average it’s probably about 35 to 40% of the time.

Check which characters gets 25k and 50k, I think the more SP character have the less chance for higher rolls. I get 10k only in a streak. I had 25k maybe three times and always after patch, like if cache was restarted back then.

Well, I haven’t been keeping note of which character gets what but I do know that 2 of my characters - this my main one and an alt trade scout character on another account - have high amount of skill points and they’ve also gotten both the 25k and 50k tasks.

In fact all of my characters have received all 3 different tasks / SP rewards, last night 7 of my 11 characters had either the 25k or 50k task, I’m actually spending more time in-game now because of that. Also them training up skills is allowing me to upgrade their equipment now, which will allow me to easily complete all future tasks.

One thing I noticed, I have 2 newb characters that were created back 10 years ago on this account, I’ve never used them in game until this skilling spree stuff started happening. They barely have any skills available to train compared to the newb characters I created 6 months ago. Those characters automatically came with a variety of different skills to start training. As such I’ve had to purchase a lot of skills for those 2 old newb characters to train.

Also my main (this character) has gifted about 1.5 bill isk spread out to most of my other characters (about 150 mill ISK each) so they can buy skillbooks and equipment when needed.

Guess what I’m saying is because of that, I’m actually spending more time in-game now with each character then I did when the skilling spree first started. Believe me, even though I do like getting the higher reward tasks, during log-in I find myself hoping the task will be just kill 1 NPC so I can quickly run through all of my characters.
