Event Feedback - XVI Anniversary Celebrations!

I actually submitted a ticket I think 4 days into the event about my issue. The response then was wait until the end of the event and submit another ticket. I did and received the canned message that they sent to everyone.

FYI these are my very first post here and was referred to me by the GM that sent the denial letter to everybody… Im new but I know right and wrong and common sense and lack of it. A technical and/or explanation error has clearly happened by this massive response that is way beyond those in this feedback chat.

Eve needs to fix it fast…silences everybody and I go get my mining porpoise as I train up the skills needed by Eves grand finale gift. :slightly_smiling_face:

Why, thank you. My mother says the same thing.

Yes, CCP has been redirecting everyone who had a problem to this thread. Therefore, people who come in here, are also first time posters, and also tend to have problems.

Just because you hold an unpopular opinion, doesnt make you wrong. The majority of people once thought the earth was flat, after all.

The true test of whether someone is wrong, is if you can demonstrate they are wrong, and that the status quo is wrong.

So far, none of you have been able to accomplish this goal. And thats just with me, typing on my phone.

Its not like im not sympathetic. I do feel sorry for you guys. I missed a couple days, so much so that I almost think i wouldnt have made it.

But it wouldve been my fault. It would have been on me. I forgot to log in. It was my fault.

And I would own up to my faults.

@CCP_Falcon Any suggestions? I’ve been meticulously following every day, yet the last 3 days are flat out gone from Redeem Items?

Okay.

I mean, people say the same thing when they cant respond but dont want to admit defeat. And thats fine. I cant force you to post, I can only respond, deconstruct, and demolish your arguments, for everyone else to see.

Its not about having the last word, either. Its whether you can defend your arguments to demonstrate that you are actually in the right. And so far, you havent. Thats why youre giving up.

Again, I feel sorry for you guys for having missed the deadline. I am sympathetic. But its not CCPs fault. Ultimately, its yours. And I am unsympathetic towards people who try to shift the blame to something else. Who feel entitled, because they were misinformed. They didnt ask questions. They didnt bother to research.

Own up to your own mistakes.

If these are indeed your first posts, threatening CCP with “Eve Player Lawyers” (lmao) and “PR Specialiists” to smear the company and the game is a bold choice.

At the end of the day, you didn’t log in all 16 days to collect the rewards. So you missed out. On top of that, these are free rewards too. I don’t know why you’re getting to panties in a twist over missing out free rewards that CCP didn’t even need to provide.

No, it ended on the 20th. The Goodwill was the first 15 gifts you received, because they were gifts. That was the goodwill. CCP isnt obliged to send you gifts.

Yeah thats how i read it too.

But apparently not most other people.

Thanks for the 1.25 million SP!

Will return in 30 minutes to address your totally false statements and the injections of your words to mine

Sure. I get it. Its not your fault. But its not CCPs fault, either. And thats the key point in this discussion.

When a plane gets grounded because of terrible weather conditions, its not your fault. You dont control the weather. But its not the airplane companies fault, either. They dont control the weather, either.

The problem becomes when the event is extended to say, 30 days, instead of 18. What about a person who cant log on for 3 weeks? Even if it isnt their fault? At what point does CCP bear the responsibility for the days you missed?

For people who move around for work, for people who dont have stable internet service, etc, its not their fault either. But whats ridiculous, is to state that this is somehow the problem of CCP, that they are at fault here. What if it was a 4 day event, and you only needed to log in once? You wouldve missed it, because you were away for 4 days. Is it still ridiculous to expect someone to log in, just once, and give them 4 days?

I mean, just imagine. An icecream store gives out a coupon for a free icecream sundae for all customers who come by at a specific date. Not Buy one get one free. Not 5 dollars off. Free. No out of pocket expenses for you. And for those who spent a little money at the store, as an extra thank you, they would get a bonus coupon for use at a later date, too.

Then, some people come in the next day, and start complaining.

“The single day wasnt enough. People have to work, not everyone can make it. You should extend it to a week.”

“Your flyer said the coupon would be available for the entire opening day. I came after you were closed at 8 PM, and didnt recieve a coupon, even though the day wasnt over. This is false advertising.”

“I came in at 5 AM, this morning. You guys opened at 8 AM, but a day has 24 hours. So I should be getting a coupon. After all, you opened yesterday at 8, and 5 AM this morning is still within the 24 hours.”

“I came the day before, and i bought something. And then, I came yesterday, and got the free coupon, which i used to give my son a sundae. I didnt spend any money today or yesterday, but I should get the extra coupon anyways. Cause, I spent money the day before. Im a loyal customer. You need to listen to me”

“Gimme the coupon or ill sue.”

Ridiculous, wouldnt you agree?

That, sounds like an actual bug, and id petition.

@CCP_Falcon This is your post, why aren’t you getting involved? There are serious concerns here from paying customers that need addressing

Becuase CCP already responded in the ticket they sent you.

Time to take a break from the game…

Why are you even getting involved? What has any of this got to do with you?
Why do you feel it absolutely necessary to deconstruct every post airing their own individual complaint directed at the devs and not, as I have said, to you?
The automated ticket response I recieved actually linked this forum page, and advised me to air my concerns here, as the devs don’t recieve information from individual tickets and that this is the place to seek answers from them.
The creator of this page is a dev, and my post was intended for their attention, not I hasten to repeat yours.
So do everyone a huge favour and butt out.

You yourself claimed that “EVE Player lawyers and PR specialists” would “get involved”. How cute, more empty threats.

I never blamed CCP for my lack of internet, however there are the issues:

  1. The timer was misleading (CCPs fault). At the end I expected to get 15 out of 16 items based on the days showing at the beginning. When I collected the 4th to last item it said “2 days left” so that meant I should be able to collect 2 more. When I logged in the very next day it read “7 hours left” and did not let me collect. So, I was unable to get even the 3rd to last day.

  2. At the start, when I was unable to log in the first couple of days I did send a ticket asking to clarify the timing and if there was any way to get the last item. They said to contact them after the event was over and they would see then. I did not expect to get the final item at that point, I was merely hoping that there was a way to catch up. (maybe the event timer was not 24 hours or something). The site said “Join the festivities for EVE Online’s 16th anniversary by logging in to the game and claiming your awesome free gifts between 2 May and 20 May! You can claim all rewards offered as long as you log in at least 16 times across the event, and they don’t need to be consecutive logins” This did not indicate you could only log in once per day. Indeed I tried to see if logging in more than once per day, but say 12 hours apart would work but it did not.

  3. The timing of the event could be not as strict. I also play other games and never have I seen an event in any other game that I played that made you log in for 16 days in a row (or 16/18 days in a row). They given you plenty of time (IE 2 weeks to do an hour of in game activity) to do the holiday quest or whatever and everyone is happy. However I understand CCPs goal was to force you to log in to boost numbers.

So sure CCP can make whatever event they like, and they can make punishing requirements to force people to log in 16 days in a row if they want so they can boost some E-Peen numbers on the login activity site.

But at the end of the day all the BS you spouted doesn’t matter. What matters to CCP is making money. Wwhat makes them money? Customer satisfaction. It could have easily been done by being more clear with the timer/end date and being more forgiving with the timeline people have to complete the event. Sure you can use BS logic to determine that CCP is not at “Fault” but it doesn’t matter if a large amount of their customers are unhappy does it?

Part of the people responding to this thread did not find out about the event until it was “too late.” I think it was probably a mistake for CCP to announce this event with almost no warning - most of the upcoming events have a lot of build-up. The event did remind me of Candy Crush or something, with the cheesy requirement to log in - but that was just my own passing impression and not an argument for either side. I was surprised I didn’t need to email a friend in order to get the prizes (sarcasm).

There is a lot of defense of CCP on this thread telling people to HTFU - which ought to be Rule #2 (after #1: Don’t fly a ship you can’t afford to lose). Even though Solonius Rex is being deliberately obtuse, he is correct - this is EVE - you will get f***ed on a regular basis. That is the whole point.

It doesn’t really help the discussion that all the staunch CCP defenders seem to be the ones who got the final prize, though. Perhaps all of us losers need a private venting forum to talk about how this has ruined our lives.

HTFU - Welcome to Eve - Celebrating 16 Years with Tears and Ragequits. Perfect.

Well that didnt last long.

First off, this is an open forums. Which means anyone can reply to you, and you can reply to anyone.

If youre looking for a method of contacting CCP without anyone chiming in, send them an e-mail. You have my word, i will not respond to that.

Secondly, If you dont like my comments, then prove me wrong, or ignore me. You chose to do neither. But im going to respond, so long as you keep posting the same things over and over again.
