Fluffy Neko for CSM20 - Vote for you friendly neighborhood Fluffy

My EVE story:

I have first seen the cold, darkness of space on YC125 November 6th. I can still remember that day like nothing else. First, there was nothing, then BOOM blinded by explosions! They have barely finished printing my body, yet it was already being exploding. There was no time to think about anything, I had to adapt fast! I was actually saved by some dude in big ships, and then we stole they gave me my first ship: an Astero. Such a majestic vessel, it’s fit was, well, under spec though having lasers and only civilian modules, but in a hurry it had to do! We started fighting hostiles coming from all around, even saw one of those big thingies… freighter I think called.
Then from nothing, more enemies came. They overwhelmed us and took my shiny Astero and my freshly printed body! Too bad for them that I am immortal and my consciousness was downloaded onto another copy someplace else. From that day forward I was never able to live in peace, I craved revenge upon those that destroyed that this.
It didn’t take long to find my first corporation providing me with resources on finding the riches in this galaxy, money was tight, but we made it work. We dive into the deepness of space, far beyond human comprehension, we take the worm holes. It isn’t always easy, but as long as we have the power of friendship we have everything we need to succeed in this world!
After a while I became less worried about flying through the things called “gates” and expanded my worldview. These days I play in many places, and with many people, but my home will always be inside wormholes.
** hands you my business card **

Fluffy Neko

wormholer, FC for the EVE Rookies community, enjoyer of nullsec miners, flies into lowsec sometimes
enjoys destroying Sansha’s nation in his free time
CSM20 candidate
reach out for a good time

Areas of expertise

  • worms and wormholes (diving deep is not just a hobby, it is a passion)
  • incursions (proudly hating Sansha’s nation since YC126)
  • homefronts (saving those homes sometimes, also that dread weapon thingy looks cool, sadly the asteroid colony doesn’t enjoy it)
  • ratting in general (especially wormhole content, we go to those fancy, whacchucallit wolf-ray-et wormholes and fly out confessors, making the sleeper wake up to the rave)
  • mining and manufacturing (i can build things, and love to go put the gas in the bag)
  • having a keen interest in blowing other people up (slowly getting into pvp, pvp is like pve, but with smarter AI and more enemies)

What sets me apart from other candidates?

First of all, I like to think we are all unique beings, including your secondary characters and as such simply being me, makes me, me. Apart from this:

  • I am not aligned with any bloc or big ass corp. I try to be impartial when it comes to issues related to any activity.
  • I try to play all the content that the game offers, let it be missioning in highsec, faction warfare in low, or paying a visit to miners in nullsec. This gives me an edge over the super specialized candidates who hardly do anything but their respective thingies.
  • I am not afraid to reach out to others more knowledgeable than me. If you come to me with an issue about some deeply hidden game mechanic, that even CCP has forgotten about, I will go and try find that one dude from Mars that can help with it.
  • I would stay up all night to help newbros if it means they will enjoy something, running fleets is a passion of mine.
  • I like to have an open atmosphere where feel like they can have fun. I whole heartedly hate when the comms are dead, this game is 110% about the community and everyone who wants to have a voice should have a voice.

Why am I running for CSM20 and what to expect for your vote?

This is actually a pretty nice question to ask. I was contemplating running last year as well, but decided not to as I barely had any experience. This year I feel like I have grown enough that I feel comfortable putting all this out and try to convince you to pass me a vote.
My primary objective is not to change the world. The world cannot be changed, we are all doomed in the end, all shall return to dust. I only want to make the little time we have a pleasant one. My plan is to work on the little things that we all hate, and make those better. I do not want CCP to delete null/low/Jspace, I just want to be the person that you all can depend on with you tiny annoyances.
Let me give you some examples of what could be wanting fixed:

  • Have you ever tried sending “Tibetan Mark Gter Yig Mgo undefined-Um Rnam Bcad Ma” or the “like” emoji to your friends in game? well, you can… that is if you meant empty box. Even if you tried sending that, since the chat will disconnect on you the worst times possible!
  • Have you ever been gaming at 3am in the dark of the night, undock your new shiny Thorax and be blinded by the brightness of a thousand suns? We can have it fixed!
  • Did you ever think about the fact that for example missioning hasn’t had a major update since the creation of the universe? What if we petitioned a change instead of having another power creep ship added to the game? If null can have site progress visibly shown why cannot wormholes have it?
  • Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?

What will I actually do if you guys elect me

I will be available for contact, so that you guys can submit your issues. With your issues I will work with the necessary people to have those fixed, let it be CCP or reaching out to others for information.
I will not care of you are flying under the flag of the bees, wasps, hornets, octopuses, or whatever other people have, I will be there to get a resolution to your issues. Are you not happy how your stay-at-home CSM is handling your issues? You will have the chance to reach out to me, no matter how stupid the issues are, and no matter you alignment. To me EVE is about the community, and community means EVERYONE, friend or foe alike.

So, why don’t you give one teeny-tiny vote to your this friendly dude over at EVE?

@Fluffy_Neko! Seriously? :rofl:

Yes. I wanted to wait until CCP officially announces it, then they could be like “you did whaaaaat”. Pixies is also a corpmate, he found it before, but didn’t say anything to others.

Now now, don’t be throwing shade @ Pixies for quietly supporting you. It is YOUR post & candidacy , not his!

So, full disclosure here.

Fluffy is one of my FCs in Eve Rookies. He started with learning high sec incursions and slowly expanded to FCing other things such as missions, homefronts and wormhole ratting.

One of the things that Fluffy is exceptional at is teaching players how to play Eve. He’s also one of our FCs who backseats (i.e. teaches) our JFCs (junior fleet commanders) how to run incursion fleets.

In addition to all of this, he decided to try to tackle the “paperwork” I require of my FCs by automating it. While he hasn’t tackled the much despised raffle tickets, he has lightened the load with his tool.

If Fluffy ever decided to leave, there would be a really large hole to fill.

Hello Fluffy Neko, first of all good luck with your campaign :flexed_biceps: …and may the best will win ofc :sports_medal:
(I will great every candidate this way  )

Hope you find time to share your thoughts on below topics and game ideas.

1. EVE Vanguard
Have you had an occasion to try it during Operation Nemesis or earlier? What was your impression if any?

What do you think about bidirectional connection planned with EVE Online? Do you see it has a potential to attract more players towards New Eden? And do you think Capsuleers will benefit from it?

2. Information & ISK itemization
How about being able to take a notes from your notepad and put it as an item into container or ship cargo? Same with an amount of ISK? Just like you can do with PLEX.

More details https://forums.eveonline.com/t/information-itemization-put-notes-into-cargo-containers

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it?

3. Production Plans
Basically the idea behind this is to bundle all the BPOs (BPCs), required to produce some final product, say, an assembled Drake fully fitted according to some saved fit ready for duty, into a single BPO-like item, and internally arranged into an intricate production workflow. Complete with logistics tasks, if necessary, using delivery corp projects. It could use BPMN diagram editor to arrange.

When installed into industrial job slot it will churn out those Drakes, provided there are required materials in linked containers or pause until they are become available again.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it? Or at least expand ESI to allow 3rd party developers to do it?

Hello, thank you for your questions, let me quickly answer them:
(okay, it isn’t quick, or short so I provided some tl;dr; which isn’t the entire point, just some scraps)

1. EVE Vanguard

TL;DR; One step in good direction, but not really. Game felt incomplete, but I do like the idea of possibly getting more people involved with the EVE universe.

Long:
I have tried playing Vanguard both now, and also during at least one of the previous playtest as well. Kinda disclaimer but FPS games aren’t my favorite, I am more of a sandbox/pve guy.

I am not against CCP trying to branch out into other niches, as Eve Online by itself is also a rather special thing in itself. Getting others to join the eco-system is always a welcoming change. Also if they do go through with the “games are connected” promises that has the chance to make EVE a better eco-system than just space ships. I do think certain parts of the main game could be enhanced with land based combat, maybe some stuff is only available at planets that are needed to make ships, maybe certain events could lead to more content being delivered, etc. EVE has planets and PI, and that’s about how far it goes, which is fine, as the main focus isn’t land but space, but it doesn’t mean we couldn’t have something that caters so people who doesn’t like space.

Also I have to say that I completely agree with what the game has written all over it: “Alpha gameplay”. I did not feel that the gameplay was revolutionary for the current day of gaming, and the performance was also questionable for the graphical quality of the game. I also had a fun time realizing that if you disconnect, you will lose all your guns and stuff and you cannot reconnect with your friends who will now have to extract to get you back in the loop.

As for the last point, I do believe we can benefit from CCP going into other directions experimenting with new features, as they can come back to us and enhance our experience too. Maybe they get new servers, maybe we get the upgraded game engine from Frontiers (it is another can of worms), who knows. Though from speaking with people who had been playing for far longer than I have, they are rather unanimously saying that instead of this, they should have just brought back one of their failed projects like Dust514, as to them this new game is lacking a “soul”.

2. Information & ISK itemization

TL;DR; Notes sharing would be nice, itemization probably would be used to spam. ISK as item could be done honestly.

Long:
Let’s look at this in two parts actually. First about the notes: I so would love a feature to have either the notes have ACLs (my alts would love that), or to just be able to drag it onto chat and share it that was (would make my FC life easier). Currently the notes feature works, but without sharing it seems like an afterthought to me. I do not think the “as item” part would be a fully goo idea, imagine the amount of spamming people would do with it, and I guess that’s the reason why CCP hasn’t made this possible yet, maybe the game just cannot handle unique stacks, maybe it would be too much data and the network would crash. If you think about 500 notes of maxed out content that’s a lot of possible data, being able to do something like book banning in Minecraft (a chest of fully written books is more data than max packet size, so you cannot login as your client will reject your inventory’s network packet) is probably a bad idea.

About ISK withdrawing, that could be a feature honestly, the items kinda already exists for the ESS hacks, but the real question is do we really need it? You can already just send people money, which is easily trackable. Trackable is loved by CCP and by the people who do the TSA like ESI checks. I do not think it would be a huge undertaking for CCP, though I kind have to go on about the dangers of it. You can still see people moving PLEX around and dying with it, it could be used the same way I guess, but there isn’t any real point to moving PLEX as item and I don’t think we have a real reason to move ISK as item. Your wallet is much more secure. However as I said I do see some use cases for it, so I could see this being pitched if enough people want it done.

3. Production Plans

TL;DR; I would love to see more tools being added to the game, and ESI could definitely use more endpoint, BUT I think we should have a line at controlling the game from out of game.

Long:
This question nicely ties up to what I said on Kshal’s interview about tooling. Basically the game lacks most of the “big” tools that would make life easier and CCP relies on 3rd parties to do it instead. This being the case is both good and bad. Good because we got ESI out of it, which is something you won’t find it other games. On the other hand it sucks, as mostly only the big alliances can afford development time for the tools.

If I would be elected I would definitely petition CCP to get some more tools into the game as we are lacking on multiple fronts: proper corp communications, in-game wiki like things, proper fleet finder/calendar, etc. I was also thinking about why corps could not have internal goals or projects before CCP rolled out, at least this partially, which was a step in the right direction, but I would have imagined projects differently (as in the ability to group them for example).

Your idea is perfectly sane, except for the all-consuming aspect of balance. I too would love to see “1-click make this” industry solutions, but that would affect balance in weird ways, so I kind have to give this to CCP. If you were to change industry to be “take this single item, this bundle of resources, and have it be turned into a fitted drake in the sum of all times” that would be a HUGE change. I do not think we should do complete redesigns like, as it can lead to a slippery slope of other huge changed pushed through in one big patchnote.

Industry right now has a steep learning curve if you think about all the things that go into it. Market research, making tools, excel sheets, moving items, training skills, more moving items, selling at the right time. We would remove many of the steps by doing 1-click-make-all, and it could lead to people who currently enjoy it just stop. However I do believe we need a manufacturing tool where you set what you want to make, how many, and it would give your the steps necessary, you could assign who makes it, track progress, etc. Lot of alliances/manufacturing corps already have 3rd party tools for this, but we should also benefit those that cannot afford to rent such tools.

Lastly about the ESI: I will advocate for ESI changes, I love the ESI, I use the ESI, and I would love it to be even better. ESI is a one of a kind thing that we should cherish. There is again the question of balance for adding certain endpoints, think about what if we had a “start industry job” endpoint. That would mean people can automate their industry pipelines. Would that be good in the long run to the balance of the game? I think the biggest reason why it hasn’t been implemented yet, is that CCP doesn’t want too much of the game being controlled from outside the game, and I too think that is a good way to think. So all-in-all I am for all the read-only endpoint industrialists or anyone else for that matter needs, but being able to influence the game from the outside is a no-no.

Let me ask you this: how far would you let out of game automation go before it becomes who can log in more alts into tools that just churn out profit without having to do basically nothing in game? Would you only let industry be consumed? Would you let hauling be consumed? Would you let PVE/mining be consumed? Would you let all but dread brawls be consumed? Somebody has to make these decisions and take the blame for the rest of their lives, but nobody really questions why these have to be made.

Now that the voting period is right at the door, I shall come to the forums and share the interviews I had done. Why haven’t I shared before? I don’t like spamming, I wanted to get them done and post them all together so you guys can select your favorite content creator (they are all cool though).

So my interviews began with the wonderful Kshal Aideron, who is also running for CSM (do check her out): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fPQ-Ra3qoc

After this I had the chance to talk on Federation Frontline Report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39jtsO7tejw

After this I had a chance to appear on Schadsquatch’s wonderful stream. It was sadly a bad time slot for the both of us, so special thanks to him for making it work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlTaefB5AOo

And lastly I obviously let CCP interview me as well: Twitch

Thanks to everyone who responded to my queries about interviews, and no cookies for those that ghosted me (You can just say no, I can take it! I’m a big spaceship now!). Personally I have been enjoying all that this has come to, it let me experience another side of this beautiful game. So thank you again people who do interviews, and thank you if you do vote for me!

Lastly I was saying in the CCP interviews: please fill up your votes, even your 10th vote might make a difference for somebody who doesn’t have much support. Even if you don’t vote for me, just make sure you guys vote for those that deeply care about the state of the game, and not just a puppet of some others.

May the best win!

My name is John Bishop. i have been a capsuleer since Jully 2003. ive known Fluffy Neko for bout a year, this man is genuine, I’ve flown in a few of his fleets teaching newbros about the intricacies of wormhole space and see how he is with new and old players alike.

i am a 2003 toon and i fully endorse Fluffy Neko for CSM
