Hi
I thought you were going?
can you address this if you are staying:
It seems to me, and I might be wrong, that your only argument, which you keep repeating ad infinitum, is that doing nasty things in a video game in which you are roleplaying a pirate in accordance with the games core design principles, makes you a nasty person irl, you are not considering the other side AT ALL you just keep repeating yourself.
Could you address the following for me so I can get my head round it, because I thought I was a bit special and atypical but not a psychopath, and I once blew up a Brutix with no guns in low sec, and the guy said he hated me and was going to quit the game for reals. It put me off playing for a bit as I thought it was a game, and here I am back 8 years later… see I am a delicate flower and having had real life problems the thought that I might have ruined someone’s life kind of got to me, but then I was telling my wife about it, 8 years later, and she said
‘dude, it was just a brutix ,HTFU which is what you should have told this guy, who made irl threats and laid stuff on you about his life and needing his spacehip, when you were playing internet spaceships while recovering from your own life problems’
‘but wife’ I said, ‘He could not know I was a delicate flower at the time’
‘THAT’ said my wife ‘is why you play the game, and don’t make it about reality, he wasn’t mature enough to play a RPG it seems, but you are, you just need to HTFU’
so here I am.
so its kind of a personal thing for me you calling people psycopaths etc for playing a game.
Given that you have done so, can you respond to the following, and rest assured, if you can persuade me I will 100% change my ways in eVe and pretty much quit most other games I enjoy
a) If this is the case then I contend that your argument must apply to all other games which have winners and losers, and which allow conduct that is not acceptable in society outside the confines of the game, eg. poker, ‘cheat’ and other card games played for money and without, monopoly, boxing, bridge, multi player fps games, Cluedo/Clue, Dungeons and Dragons, Tennis, actually loads when you think about it.
b) Clearly, millions of people play these games without making irl threats, kicking over tables, shouting about cancer etc, and further more when people do behave like that we call them ‘bad sports’, or ‘bad losers’. Sometimes, when people behave like that, others will take the piss etc, while this is not nice, it is generally understood in society that anti-social behaviours are penalised in this way, and that children, for instance, will moderate their behaviours to be acceptable to their peers. In this way anti-social behaviours are not socially rewarding. Behaving like this when you lose in a game is, I think, one of these socially unacceptable behaviours because it ruins the game for everyone, because all of a sudden its not a game and someone is going to kill themselves or telling you to get cancer
c) If your argument does not apply to other games as a), I think you need to explain why eVe is a special case, and if you want to say your argument DOES apply to these other games, then I think you will need a very convincing argument.
What do you think of the guy in this video, has it occurred to you that you would deprive people like this of CONTENT, and a challenging game? Isn’t this video both boring and exciting in the way only eve can be? What do you think of this guys attitude? Do you think the loss hurt, I do, for all he says he doesn’t care, I just think he knows the game he’s playing and has got a bit of class, and now he’s got a story to tell… he’s playing a multi player game with consequences and super advanced AI (eg. the goons in the vide are the NPCs, while goons are not that clever they have better AI than NPCs in any other game).
If you want to be a hero on a charger cant you be one in game, and make a thread about that?
And before you post, don’t just think of the children, just think.
Cheers PATTI
edit for spelling, but now I cant find it so I’m leaving it, and because I just watched that video again and its ace…
