Is 20 players killing a guy mission running PvP or griefing?
Pvp and griefing seem to be the same thing in many players eyes in this game.

My expectation is that 15 dudes have something better to do than pile on a solo alpha praxis.
Indeed! Like 5 grown UFC fighters beating an elderly woman.
It’s pathetic but it gets their rocks off.
You can might makes right EVE into an early grave.
And then all you mighty guys in your T1 destroyers can shoot each other nonstop till the end of days.
Your praxis was for nullsec pvp.
This praxis was for rolling wormholes, which requires a certain tonnage, which is why it is built like that.
The fact that you both didn’t know that and legitimately thought I fit my Praxis like that because it was a good PVP fit (in my mind) is troubling.
You have no idea what you’re talkin about and you should really keep your opinions to yourself when they are completely uninformed as this one is.
If you see a praxis with a higgs anchor and plates and you think that’s a PVP fit you are missing some big pieces of information
The issue with that line of thought is that when the solo Alpha Praxis has his own 14 other people with them, they’ll have no qualms about going after another solo player. This is true even if these players are total carebears.
During my war days, when I infiltrated various carebear corporations, for all of their talk about not consenting to PvP, and feeling that they were griefed because they couldn’t do their PvE content in peace, whenever two dozen of them got together, they absolutely couldn’t keep their mouths shut about “ganking” or “PKing” me now that they had the numbers, even when I pretended to do PvE stuff (to see how they would react).
Nothing but hypocrisy, plain and simple.
15v1’ing someone trying to make some isk is not a supreme victory.
Stop pretending it is.
who said it had to be all about making isk… ccp designed the game so if 20 people wanna team up against 3 they can… mechanics allow every single bit of the gameplay that you and brokeback are crying and bitching about… GET THE ■■■■ OVER IT.
PvP
They were defending their home. And you were quite nasty to them Tell the full story bruv
Holy thisisntreallifeitsavidyagamebatman.
Sounds fun
People know. They just don’t care All fits are PvP fits bruv
See, that right there is what is frustrating about you. Do you have any idea who Vinnie is? His play style? Ever talked to him? If you interacted with this game at all outside of the forums and hi sec, you would know he is one of the funniest, nicest people playing this game. He provides great wormhole content, very amusing videos, and runs a corp of pretty standup people.
He is also super considerate and will spend ages going over his fit and strategy and talking to anyone who asks him. And since all people care about on the forums is ganking, he actually plays in WH space, where you can’t gank people by any definition of the word.
However, all you care about as usual is the belief that everyone fits in your neat pile of ‘asshole ganker’ or ‘super moral champion of justice’. Maybe go actually interact with the game away from the forums a little bit and meet some people.
What?
To kill, ambush, or defeat with little effort; used in online games.
OK if you say so…
NB. You should say by the Eve definition of the word, where ganking is defined as hisec suicide ganking.
In the context of EVE ‘ganking’ almost exclusively refers to suicide ganking, so your urban dictionary definition isn’t really relevant here for the specific EVE definition of that word.
At least in my experience in null sec nobody is talking about ‘ganks’ when they refer to one-sided fights, unless it’s about high sec fights involving suicide ganks.
Sure, some people think you can get ganked outside high sec, but this use of the word ‘gank’ without meaning a suicide gank in the context of EVE will create a lot of confusion, like that time you started talking about how freighters could get solo ganked, and linking a jump freighter kill in low sec when confused people were claiming that it was impossible to solo gank a freighter with a single ship.
Language is meant to help us share our thoughts, but in order to do so without confusion it’s better to use the right words in the right context.
I was always using the actual definition of ganking. In any case what you are defining is hisec suicide ganking in Eve speak.
We have a difference of opinion, I will continue to use the word ganking as defined and will used other terms to fit it within Eve. Feel free to use this word for hisec suicide ganking if it makes you happy.
Yes, and in the context of EVE there is a more specific definition.
And unless you want to intentionally make people misinterpret what you say, it’s useful to stick with the common definition of the word in our context.
High sec suicide ganking is usually shortened as ‘ganking’ as you cannot suicide gank outside high sec and any gank outside high sec is just a kill.
As I said I agree to disagree. When I refer to ganking it is always the definition I detailed.
You are of course free to do so but this is not the first time this has caused a lot of confusion and likely it won’t be the last time either.
I do refer to ganking when I mean hisec suicide ganking of course, but I guess I am a bit lazy in not defining it properly, of course you know what I mean because it is in context.
So according to your definition when a nulsec Alliance drops a fleet that completely outguns an inferior fleet from another Alliance, be if by numbers or hull/fitting quality/etc., you would call it ganking?
Read the definition and decide for yourself.
To help in your deliberations I have used it in context of using overkill levels of force so that the person or people being attacked have no chance to defend themselves. So in Eve it would encompass hot dropping a solo ratting BS with a large BLOP’s fleet. Just as it would be the same for a freighter gatting blapped in Uedama, or a JF getting attacked by a Super as it tried to warp and got one shot by heavy fighters…
Your example, I would not call ganking as such.
Im asking what YOU think, not what the definition says or what I think about it.
