Guardian Gala sites

I started with Ishtar, just cause I haven’t played one in a long while and was in the mood for high DPS high utility drone boat. It got toasted by the NPCs, but like I said, I slacked off, got too complacent and overconfident. I switched to Tengu as my Loki still doesn’t have all sub systems at 5.

The Tengu has 50k+ EHP focused on omni-tanked 12k shield with Ex / Kin at just under 80% while EM / Therm just under 70. I went omni instead of just kin/exp because of PvP and the fact that I personally hate flying around with holes in my tank. Use both Scourge and Nova HAMs and usually open up with Rage then switch to Javelins while maintaining close orbit around mid structures. Tops out at around 900+ DPS without overheat on Scourge Rage missles, so not great but plenty to do the job. The nice thing about the Tengu is also I put the ECM sub system on it along with tractor beam to help myself out a bit in case of loot thieves etc. So fairly flexible.

The Loki seems to be best choice DPS / Tank wise, but that strengthened ECM on the Tengu earns its slot

gila with 83/80 resists and 40hp/s regen can passive tank this sitting still.

Problematic. Mainly the BSes take some time to take down while the final wave spawns on you thus giving more time to get ganked. This is precisely why I made the ECM fit on the Tengu rather then go with a classic tank’n’spank. So I GTFO when needed. I can tank the mobs just fine, but mobs + player or 2 is another story. IMHO its not worth it. You may get lucky and run in a super quiet region, but overall the slight increase in drop quality is not worth the number of times you’ll need to get away. You end up actually earning a lot less overall.

I have not tried NS yet and probably won’t due to time constraints.

im still trying to figure out what makes the VIP sites spawn

Did they lock or attack before the invuln wore off? If true, everyone should report the bug with your observation. I shall clarify, they should not lock or attack until after the invuln wears off. If they start moving before invuln wears off, that’s not a bug.

It’s a nice idea, but how do we present the information?

So NPCs have this special ability like performing action like moving around under invulnerability? It is for sure different than players and its non-intuitive. Its few seconds like 3 to 5 maybe when they speed up to full speed and then they can be targeted.

And what is the reason they should act like that? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Ship scanners that reveal base resistances for ships, that would need redesigning window for scan report.

Agency window would be bad for that because its already cluttered with a lot of stuff. Informations about the game as in a form of encyclopedia is readily available outside the game.

If they would have to include some basic informations like damage profiles of NPCs, they could be in the show info windows, as reported weapon damage profile and resistance profiles. Like its a case with player ships, just simpler.

Well.
Then it is at least a poor design.
Sorry but when I play a game, I don’t like when the mechanisms are modified with no reason and it is not visible.
Eve already requires to learn a lot of things, many are actually very obfuscated.

When rats have specific mechanism, then it is felt like being cheated - by the devs.
This new feature does not bring anything to the gameplay, is annoying and actually removes the possibility for sniper fits to be of any use. It is inconsistent with how the game behaves otherwise.

And please, fix the rats targeting us from 500km. They are rat CRUISER not rat CARRIER.

I don’t know, but it’s “by design” so it’s not a bug. It’s something we will be talking about with the team that made these behaviors and the functionality.

That’s why I asked: How would this look? How do we present that info?

A list of attributes ? Just like the “show info” on a module or ship.
Or maybe a little diagram showing how much DPS you deal to it for each damage type.

IMO this should be not so detailed, player must get the challenge to figure things out. However a generic threat level would be nice. So on a range from 1…5 for example, the gala sites are 4 (5 for VIP, plus fleet recommendation), Rogue Drones 2-3, and the event before with the drifters a 4-5, the Alpha event gets a 1.

Scanner I would leave alone and let it work like it always worked, by revealing modules on player ships.

I am leaning towards having a tab in show info window for NPC ships. The resistances and damage profile could be taken from database and shown like in player tables:

For example:

Damage:
60% Kinetic, 40% Thermal, or numbers like for drones.

ECM:
Target Painter.

Resistances:
(Tabs like for player ships.)

I dont know if that is what realy needs adition to the game, for me its not, as I am a veteran player already and know where to see the stats in detail on web.

I hadn’t got the time to read, was it fixed where you finally get rat bounties for killing any of the ships or is all the isk you get come from looting the wrecks? when i was starting out i managed to kill off all rats except the boss but only was able to finish the site off when the boss despawned. i wouldn’t be mad about as much as i was if i would have had isk payouts, however it may have been or supposed to be, to at least make the time i spent trying to kill it worthwhile.

There is no poor game design in EVE, remember? You are just wanting EVE to change to be something else that is not EVE. You should go find a game you can handle rather than come into games that are not designed for people like you and try to change them to your liking.

only the boss gives a bounty.

@CCP_Dragon

I will say the most annoying aspect of these rats is that they become invulnerable when “initiating” warp, that is to say when aligning to warp, but not yet warping, you instantly lose lock and they become invulnerable. (Didn’t try smartbombs however.) Given the align time for the rats can be as long as 20+ seconds for some of them, this is REALLY irritating.

Why not have the information in the combat log. When we apply damage let us see how much is lost. So you get against 75% resists 25 (75) etc. Its not going to be a round 100 in mist cases so possible but a challenge to do on the fly. And needs shooting the npc to do so. So isn’t free or as fast.
Goes along with my previous comment of letting us see damage types done to us.

I’ve only done a few of the event sites, since my jack-of-all trades Stratios is proving to be a bad choice for this event. I knew that once the Boss NPC appears and you leave the site for repairs, it could de-spawn in a short time.

But today I had a frustrating experience in highsec in a standard Gala site, with a barely usable Gnosis fit. I started from a 100km warp in, did not leave the site, was tanking the BS for a few minutes and almost had it into armor when it decided that neither of us was making progress, and warped off. Does the Boss NPC have a timer? Was the problem: my range from the beacon?

Timer, if you are to weak … he lols and warps off

This was the same for at least a few past events as well as I recall.
