Sorry for popping in late, but I just wanted to say I really like the Gala Sites. I didn’t find the RL time to run as many as I wanted, but from the 30 or 40? I did I can see that you guys did take past experiences into equation and came up with something that’s actually a nice balance between fun, excitement, challenge and reward. Chapeau!
Oh my god they tactical bounce, they’re getting smarter!
Wonder how many bots that breaks
Content breaking bots? Say it’s not so!
This is something I have always enjoyed seeing in other games, but requires me to look in the combat log. Of course, usually you look in the combat log when you are losing or have already lost, which is exactly when you need more information. From a usability standpoint this means we don’t interrupt while providing all of the context necessary. An subtle solution without adding unnecessary complexity.
@CCP_Dragon has stated the drawback: combat log is where players might look, after they have lost. I prefer giving players a way to find more info about threats they will face, before then.
It is possible to provide some info even earlier in the process: a pop-up window when you warp to a site. For example, a warning is provided when warping to “covert” data sites (because they are not like any other data or relic site.)
why do people want information to be made available at the cost of a mid slot, when they could simply Google the answer?
or find out the old fashion way, fit a missile ship that has no kinetic bonus with 4 launchers, load them with all 4 missile types. hit the target with all four launchers at the same time, divide the damage by raw dps, boom your have your resistance profile for that rat.
Google the answer is not a good solution.
Information needed to play the game should be available in game.
3rd party apps are good for making things more efficient.
As for the missiles. Yes, someone high skilled can do that to get the rats resist profile. This tells you nothing about their damage profile. And also doesn’t help anyone without missile skills.
Assuming it works of course and.doesnt get thrown by crossing between shields & armour etc.
Yes not everyone reads the combat log but exact information shouldn’t be available in advance. Rough information already is available if you look at faction descriptions in the ship tree.
I agree with this. Part of the fun here was figuring out what worked through trial and error. I had a rough idea of what the damage and resist profile was going to be based on the NPC information and worked the rest out (and rather enjoyed the process).
My take on some of this is that part of the difficulty in these events is not just the raw combat, but in working out these details. That’s something that rewards persistence and analysis as well as skill and ship fittings. I appreciate that in this event.
I honestly think I would have enjoyed this event less if I knew more going in.
just quoting because you contradicted yourself in a single post.
I have something like that in the game, in one of notes in notepad:
Faction to deal to resist Electronic Warfare
Angel Cartel ❇ / ⇒ ❇ (62%) / ⇒ (22%) Target Painters
Blood Raiders ♒ / ♨ ♒ (50%) / ♨ (48%) NOS/Neut, Tracking Dsrt
Guristas ⇒ / ♨ ⇒ (79%) / ♨ (18%) ECM
Mordu's Legion ⇒ / ♒ ⇒ (70%) / ♨ (30%)
Rogue Drones ♒ / ♨ (var) (var)
Sansha ♒ / ♨ ♒ (53%) / ♨ (47%) Tracking Dsrt
Serpentis ⇒ / ♨ ♨ (55%) / ⇒ (45%) Sensor Dampener
CONCORD ⇒ / ♨ (Omni)
EoM ⇒ ⇒ (74%) / ♨ (26%)
Khanid ♒ / ♨ ♨ / ♒
Mercenaries ⇒ / ♨ ⇒ / ♨
Sleepers (Omni) (Omni) (all)
Incursions (Omni) (Omni) (all)
Amarr ♒ / ♨ ♒ (47%) / ♨ (42%) NOS/Neut, Tracking Dsrt
Caldari ⇒ / ♨ ⇒ (51%) / ♨ (48%) ECM
Gallente ⇒ / ♨ ⇒ (60%) / ♨ (39%) Sensor Dampener
Minmatar ❇ / ♨ ❇ (50%) / ♨ (31%) Target Painter
[♒] Electromagnetic
[♨] Thermal
[⇒] Kinetic
[❇] Explosive
EM: EMP, proton
THER: plasma
KIN: titanium, lead
EXP: fusion
Uranium: all but EM
It looks better when pasted in the game notepad. It is all that is really needed for me.
I am having no trouble doing them solo in a Gnosis (high sec.)
Just need the right fit
Omg effort! What do you mean I can do things for myself instead of expecting the universe to provide for me???
Utter nonsense if you ask me / sarcasm
Imo log would be perfect. It would provide info but still require some digging. Also, loosing ships is very healhy for the economy.

it is, through trial and error. it’s also available outside of game by people that went and performed tests alot like i described when the npc ships first appeared on sisi. they then, out of the kindness of their hearts, made the information available… with the help of google.

high skills are a detriment, you want to find out their resists, not one shot them. lower skills are better… and it takes 30mins training to be able to use light missiles. and lower skills make sure your missile isn’t going to hit hard enough to go through shields into armor.
edit: don’t know why codes aren’t working, don’t give a frack
I have to say this event is quite grindy. It is not easy to reach the 700 points if you dont log in everyday and do sites, but i guess that is the point of events. They are EVE’s version of dailies.
Faster site respawns would be great, because if you dont want to steal other people’s site you have to travel quite far or wait like 20min for respawn.
I’ve just noticed that the three Proteus Spirit SKINs I had in my hangar have disappeared. Will you be returning them to me once the art team have fixed them so that they work?
You should have received 3 implants in return. Please verify and submit a support ticket if you can’t find them. They should be able to indicate where the implants ended up.
will proteus get a spirit skin or is that idea a write off
seems like “eh,we can’t be bothered to fix it so here’s the cheapest new implant” deal
