Never said the other guy was constructive nor it was civil, on the contrary, in fact as above mentioned I wrote such posts can be reported and be responded to in a civilized manner, showing the responder is superior in every way, the responder chosen to instead behave in a familiar fashion, showing he isn’t (much) better at all. I quoted his very post so claiming he did not do it is clearly a lie. I can only deal with facts, I represented them, now you pretend they are not real and don’t care for contradictions either, then why bother posting in the first place if you ignore the argument anyway? Completely pointless.
As for the argument: He could simply say the logic of that guy is flawed, the logic of him makes no sense. That would have been a decent, civilized response. He instead chosen to be passive aggressive and be personal and call it a “degenerated logic”. No amount if white knight mental gymnastics will make that fact go away. You can pretend what he wrote doesn’t mean what it means but that is just ignoring the facts, nothing else. He could have worded his expression in countless different way, he chosen this exact way. Anderson is right, ccp and others constantly want rats to be more like players but than they get special deals like machs with 8 guns + missiles, they aren’t even using MJD in the sites, they are plan warping to nothing at various ranges unless they have bookmarks all over the place, and even ive tried, the second they warp in they are already moving to full speed and have me targeted but are invul, if we are going to have rats treated like players than all players rules should apply, if not than we should quit trying to make them like a player.
Have you ever fought some of the mission bosses that immune to everything but can freely continue doing as they please, no player subcap is immune to all ewar and can burn around on the field.
The time it takes to QA the T3 hull SKINs is not on the table this year. I’m already putting together the request for next year’s Spirit SKIN, it includes all 4x T3Cs. No clue if we’ll get it.
wtf ccp, so I just had a boss in a site that was invincible. my drones were orbiting it and firing it but 0 hits and missiles hits didn’t register. boss ended up warping away after a full load of missiles and drones on it.
We have a limited time to shoot the Boss, nothing will hit while it is beginning to warp away. I don’t know your situation, but I imagine if any of us had some client / server lag, the boss could appear to be in space, a second or two longer than the server says it is.
I complete each site in under 5min in highsec, never had the boss escape, and win 95% of all contests if I’m on grid when the boss arrives. Drone boats have no chance against gun boats.
If you’re a newbie whose sites are getting stolen, you need to find quieter systems or move to low sec.
I ran sites in low sec for a total of six hours. Only got disturbed once. If you stay aligned to a station and warp out as soon as a hostile player appears, you’re 99% safe.
That last has not been my experience. I’ve run it in a very blinged VNI (which, embarrassingly, I lost on day 1! Through sheer stubbornness on my part…), regular Vexor (yeah, not really viable,heheh), Navy Drake, Rattlesnake, and now in an oddball Dominix fit (admittedly, only just started using the Domi, but initial results are VERY positive!) and can say that my results with the Rattler are pretty much same as yours - no boss escapes (hell, they almost never even get out of tractor beam range) and I only lost two contests out of a couple of dozen, and one of them was a misclick on my part (my MTU didn’t speak to me the rest of that day!) (My Rattlesnake is drone-emphasized, btw) I think the key might be in the SeBo running scan-res script, to give me an edge there time-wise. Tomorrow I’ll see how my Domi compares, but so far in uncontested sites (only kind I’ve found, so far :S ) it seems to be clearing a bit faster than the Rattler - probably a function of the drone tracking bonus.
I’m really loving how this event has inspired me to experiment (for instance, my active-shield-tanked Domi with autocannons build I did purely for some variety and fun) with different ships and fittings. Only reservation I have at this point is that it seems that shield tanks (both passive and active) seem to have an easier time of it, but this may be merely observer bias on my part.
What I see is, that drone boats first need to have their drones travel to the boss from their last target, while I have him already in armor with a couple of gun cycles.
This event gets farmed so much WTF
I just tried to do a few sites - pretty much impossible. Several ppl in every site. They even bring marauders … Just was in a site with a Paladin and a Vargur.
I’ll never reach 700 points with so much competition. We need like 3 times more sites for the amount of people trying to run them. Or faster respawn time. 20min is waaaaay to long.
I guess i have to go to lowsec if i want to reach the 700 points.
This is easily avoided - in my Rattlesnake, I only target the frigates which are always nearby, and I glue them down with a grappler, so my drones are always near and ready when the boss spawns, which immediately gets grappled and targeted with everything. If any of my free-range chickens stray toward the cruisers, I call them back. I ignore the cruisers completely (I may choose to lob missiles at the first couple, but as time ticks on I stop, so that once the boss spawns I don’t have to wait for a launcher cycle to complete) - my tank shrugs off their damage, and a passive-tanked Rattler’s signature is so big that enlarging it makes zero difference to incoming damage, so their painters are irrelevant. Granted, the Rattlesnake is not a pure drone-boat, of course, it also has its missiles, so as long as my drones are near enough and I lock the boss as soon as it spawns and redirect everything onto it, the Rattler’s brutal damage output offsets any head-start from faster-locking ships - the oft-recommended “best ships for the event” Gilas actually don’t compete, despite their lock-time edge.
All that being said, very few of my contests have been against respectable gunboats - the field is saturated with Gilas, mainly (at least in the areas where I’ve been active.)
Sounds like you are in a crowded area of space. I run around a loop of 7 systems, I probably get a site every other one, even at peak time. Its just a quiet area.
This must probably be the worst event CCP has ever come up with. It’s just one big exercise in frustration:
For starters, it’s EXTREMELY ALPHA-UNFRiENDLY. But alpha’s can cross-train skill into Drake battlecruisers handy for this mission, I hear you say. They cannot, it’s a complete myth. The reality is that the 5 mil SP cap makes this whole cross-training idea for alpha’s just plain bullsshit beyond anything but frigates. And no, push-to-20-mil-SP with “daily alpha skill injectors” are not a viable option here, that whole concept is just another bullsshit myth/ dead-on-arrival idea for a variety of reasons.
Then the AI, it’s just not fun to fight against. It’s in invulnerability mode half of the time and AI keeps spamming annoying frigates that take out any of your drones and basically forces you into BC+ missile fits only, again scrrewing over the majority of alpha players. BY FAR the most infuriating part though is when the “boss” BC/BS finally arrives, you get pummeled into structure almost in no time. Which forces you to warp off and when you get back, it’s gone! Reward lost, all the effort lost, WTF?! Btw did I mention you loose ALL your active drones when warping off, no way of reconnecting?
Which brings me to the rewards for this event, probably the biggest frustration factor. Min 300 points for a lousy accelerator, are you kidding me? With these point thresholds, the whole diminished-return mechanic for killing NPC’s just becomes extremely frustrating. Even worse though, except for bosses, NPC wrecks don’t drop shhit and shooting regulars down doesn’t even give you bounties. So the whole reward of this event comes down to shooting and looting that single “boss” who just disappears after you warp off. There are basically no other decent rewards for putting that much time in an event that plays out bad to begin with. This is just incredibly bad game design.
Having lost over 120 mil in ships as an Ammar alpha without getting a single decent reward from this event, I just gave up on it in frustration. Does CCP even properly test these events?
Not all events are aimed for alpha/new characters. That said… if you are having trouble why are you not looking for a friend. Also prophecy.
Even if you are in an npc Corp you should be able.to find others struggling and keen. If you are in a player Corp yell at your ceo for not supporting you.
