Guardian Gala sites

Also team up with another alpha or omega so one can be a punching bag other can hunt larger orbiting targets or vise versa,I would rather run this sites with wingman that know what his doing than solo or dual boxing. Get sites times to 3 min or so and cruise around doing em.

Lol, this game has ZERO decent mechanics to get you coop with other alphas

So you can’t solo the sites but don’t want to work with someone else to run them and take turns on the loot…
This simply tells me that the problem here is you. Not the event

This is just not how it works. I recommend you to check any Fanfest presentation about NPE. Players typically go from solo to coop to pvp. Which means if you don’t provide a decent (solo) PVE experience out of the box, you just lose the majority of your customers within hours after installing.

Btw, this event is not even designed for coop, only one gets the loot.

Respectfully, as @Nevyn_Auscent says, not all events are for all characters/players. The previous event was extremely alpha friendly. More experienced players need some love too and as you can see from this thread, a lot of us really appreciated how this event was done as it gave us a challenge.

I’m sorry for your lost ships and your frustration, but this event was not necessarily aimed at the solo alpha. And that’s ok.

Wait for the next one and if the recent pattern holds, odds are that will be a bit easier to run for alphas (and boring for vets). Not every event can please everybody- again, that’s ok.

Didn’t get to poke a VIP site for carrier yet most likely will by the end of the event,so far of course I noticed the rats use the new ‘spawn of Satan’ type AI without the normal dps they’d have.Fear not plan to use a nyx for the carrier rat^^.

serious answer:

  1. the wreck is lootable by anyone in your fleet, so you BOTH “get the loot”.
  2. you sell the loot and split it
  3. why was that so bloody difficult to figure out?
  4. with a group rolling through galas in low pop areas, you can actually make good isk.
  5. WHY WAS THAT SO BLOODY DIFFICULT TO FIGURE OUT?
  6. you just want to be able to solo roll content for big isk, sorry put in the time and get the sp to do that.
  7. if i see you trying to solo a gala, i will be yoinking the prize.

edit: guess i’m not allowed to steal from corpies… dude, start a fleet and get 20 newbeans to help.

Did you try flying a Gnosis? Also use T1 medium drones and since they’ll pop regularly, treat them as expendable ammo. I believe they’re only 40k isk each, which is still cheap (the boss bounty should pay for lost drones).

In addition to previous suggestion (“sell and split the profits”), you could alternatively… ummm… alternate! You agree on a split, so for instance take turns on the accelerators, ditto the SKINs, ditto the boosters, ditto the fireworks… Or is you find a stronger/more experienced player willing to take you under his wing (an attitude adjustment on your part may be required, for that! No offense intended, merely genuine advice), he/she may offer you a different split - maybe he takes the advanced accelerators and leaves you all the standard ones, and maybe all he wants as far as SKINs go is to complete his own collection, and is willing to leave you the rest… (this isn’t a hypothetical example, by the way: I offered someone exactly this deal, a few days ago, as well as allowing the other player to keep all the combat boosters and fireworks, too.)

In EVE, coming up with creative solutions can apply just as much, or perhaps even more, to interactions with other pilots, as it does to strategic and tactical innovations (and there’s also PLENTY of room for experimentation there - this event has provided an opportunity to give the grey matter a work-out - or simply wait for others to spoon-feed effective fits and copycat those, that also works, I guess.)

EDIT: In response to your original post, specifically regarding the difficulty of these sites, and their “Alpha-unfriendliness”:

  • Firstly, not every event is going to suit every player type - those that accommodate “younger” characters are dull for the vets, and those that are interesting for the vets are difficult for newer players - there’s really no getting around that, although CCP have in this event introduced two grades of sites, and the VIP one I will likely not even get to see the inside of - this time around. I’m not salty about that - I’ll catch it next time if they do it again, or somewhere down the line I’ll be able to participate in “VIP”-equivalent sites in subsequent events. This also suggests that CCP is experimenting with multi-grade events, and you can expect in the future some that cater to new and old players, separately.
  • It has been my perception that the events have been coming up more often than in the past (though I haven’t been playing long enough to be able to tell for sure) - if this is indeed the case, then you can probably expect a rotation, with low- and high-difficulty events being alternated, as well as what factions/fits are favoured.
  • Even within the standard “grade” of event, there is some stratification: some spawn battleship bosses, some spawn battlecruisers - the latter are more frequent, and also easier. So here’s a thought: if you find that the battleship is too tough for you… leave! Go to the next site, and hope for a BC boss (as mentioned, they seem to spawn more often.) This is about having realistic expectations relative to your capabilities. Seriously, as an Alpha player, you are restricted in some ways, and this is simply one of those - you can’t seriously expect to play completely for free and yet have access to everything, even within only one sphere of the game (in this case, events) - that’s simply not reasonable.

Happy hunting!

Which event? If you’re referring to Resource Wars that was intended for both new and old players.

I am in a rather quiet area, but a 20min site respawn time means that a 1 player needs 4 systems for farming these sites.
The final event reward for that long grind is very small (80mill).

you mean from the points
the bosses drop accelerators too and can even drop serpentis accelerator in high sec too
ive only had one serpentis accelerator though

Forget about the points, the boss drop is worth much more, all accelerator types can drop. Standard is very common, advanced some times, serpentis rare.

Hint, what you collect now, don’t sell immediately, keep it until next week…

Last night I ran some sites with my GF and noticed that only one of us gets the Agency points per kill. Is this intentionally? Seems a bit counter intuitive in an MMO that only one player in the group gets progress for their ‘quest’.

I am aware that the sites are meant to be soloed, but I decided to help her because she doesn’t have good combat skills and it was fun doing the sites with her. However my ship outdamages her so it got in the way for her to get Agency points for it.

For a start, not all content has to be for all players, as many of the others have said.

You are essentially a level 1 beginner in the starter zone with a bronze sword and a wooden shield complaining that you cannot go on a level 80 raid. It does not work like that in ANY game.

In this particular case however, it is not even true that you cannot do it if you are prepared to put some time, effort and thought into it, or team up with someone else, as others have suggested.

Yes they can, easily. This is complete nonsense. You just need Frigate 3, Destroyer 3 and Cruiser 3 and then you are ready to train Battlecruiser 1 and pilot your Drake. Why you think that can’t be done with 5 million SP is beyond me.

It was at this point I decided you were just a lazy whining blame shifter who wants everything handed to him on a silver plate.

As above. Absolute nonsense. I shoot Battlecruisers and Battleships all the time, and I am always dissapointed when I don’t get a kill mark (again) because (again) the player is ‘only’ an Alpha.

EVE is all about picking the right ship for the job. You want to skip that part and then complain when it doesn’t work and then blame the game? Get outta here.

No YOU do because YOU are doing it wrong. As soon as you make the decision to warp you press Shift + R and your Drones will have returned before the warp kicks in. Warping off in a panic and leaving your Drones behind is entirely on you. Not really surprising that again you seek to lay blame elsewhere.

Seems to me you want success without effort and success even when you show up with the wrong tools for the job (and when I say ‘wrong tools’ while I do primarily mean the ship type, I also mean mental attitude, which in your case is appalling).

This is so out of reality it’s not even funny. How do you expect the average alpha to organize fleets and trust to hand over their loot to strangers for splitting in a game that has ZERO decent mechanics for match-making and loot distribution? Heck, even a boring game like Destiny 2 has better group raiding mechanics for randoms.

You right click a players name and pick ‘form fleet with’.

That’s it.

Job done.

Fleet organized.

You are not assembling an armada to take on the Reapers. You are inviting a fellow player to a group. You know, grouping with other human beings, a thing in MMO’s since the 1990’s.

Stop with the constant flood of excuses / blame.

I can tell you for sure, if you never get anywhere in EVE, it will be entirely down to this appalling attitude of yours and nothing at all to do with the game.

Run them with a friend so your vastly more likely to get the loot, and can do the sites faster as well. I’ve been helping random players for several days do these as well. Find someone else doing them if you have no friends, and pair up. Most people will accept doing these as a duo, since no single ship can kill the ships fast enough to max efficiency even with 1100 dps, then you can split loot.

In fairness, the burners kill EVERYONE eventually, they are brutally comically hard, one tiny mistake and even a deadspace fit faction frigate goes poof. Sooner or later you WILL die to a burner, even if you’ve been doing them for over a year. Especially if CCP ninja buffs them without warning. :stuck_out_tongue:
