That’s kind of why I go with the ‘teach a man to fish’ approach.
Right now five people are enjoying the game as alphas - one is already engaged in highsec piracy with CODE, one is in EVE Uni, one started the SoE arc and I’ll later introduce them to incursions (they’re more interested in the PvE aspect of the game), and one happened upon a wormhole with a citadel that had public docking access and is now managing a corp with two others to try living in a wormhole (despite still figuring out what’s involved with their new role).
Give em what they need and they’ll find their fun.
But yeah, not really what I meant. My point was more, that people shouldn’t be afraid to join a corp, see how it is and then leave them again, if you don’t feel like they are a fit for you.
Public fleets are a good alternative as well, so you should definitely try those out if you are into PvP.
You’ve yet to come up with a solid argument as to why the rules should be changed beyond your opinion and little rants about being right.
You’ve been presented with several solid and detailed counter arguments and ignored or dismissed them with an arrogant “I’m right”; yet have chosen not to present your own; all while expecting to be taken seriously.
If there’s sales campaigns going on, one involves crayons, the other a big budget.
One showing that you actually understand the game as it is, that you have actually considered how your agenda will affect not only other players but the game as a whole; and above all one that you have some kind of visible evidence for that others can access.
if players are leaving under the current agenda?
Players have been leaving for 16 years; high churn rates are expected in a game that caters to a niche market.
I’m a player that is concerned by the changes that you propose, for example the removal of PvP from hisec would negatively affect far more player groups than just hisec PvP players. The consequences of such a change would be felt game wide, there’s at least one nullsec group that would use a PvP free hisec to dominate and control the economy; but you can’t see past the end of your own nose.
and dumber because a player loss for 16 years only shows that something goes completly wrong
So every game in the world is completely wrong? All games losing players over the span of their life.
The niche that Eve occupies does have a higher churn rate than the norm, as do other games with a similar cut throat rule set; because games with such open rule sets can not and do not appeal to the majority.
The minority that they do appeal to tend to stick with them, because there’s very few games that offer such a different “landscape” to the usual fare.
I love this. Would be neat to have an event that borks ALL gates in New Eden. Causing new connection maps in NS/LS/HS. But don’t change the security (NS/LS/HS).
So a couple months of mass chaos as blocks can’t get to other parts because of HS islands, HS folks finding themselves in LS or NS. New Trade hubs being established. This sounds great!
After a couple months they can have some events where the Empires “respond” tring to make new territories that have contiguous gates like HS has now, and players have to defend their lands from the Empires.
Then a few months later can start rolling sout security level changes to match the new Empire borders.
If they could somehow tie in that passive income to helping newbros get a feel for the game and teaching them how to play it well, including that losing ships can be a fun and entertaining experience, I don’t see how it wouldn’t be a win-win scenario.
I can’t say I like the idea of this but it does remind me that the current map is the result of procedural generation and make me wish I could get my hands on that to see what else it could spit out.
Resource depletion in NPC space (i assume you mean high and low sec) is a very bad idea. I remember starting as a HS miner (like most new players) and there was nothing more annoying than getting home from work and and all of the belts withing 4 or 5 jumps were mined out. I don’t know about now, but back in 2013 the HS belts only spawned after TD. Depletion is not really necessary, since the rock in HS have very little volume (and less variety) compared to lower security parts of space. Sure i could rat when belts are depleted, but sometimes you actually need the minerals
