You might think this is so… but, the ultimate goal is to keep players in-game for as much time as possible. Travel time is key, ask WoW devs. Travel time alone can account for up to 20-40% of total game time, requiring more subscription time. Hence why WoW also forces you to slow travel for the first 6 months of an xpac.
Less in-game income means the same thing. The less money you can earn means the longer it will take for you to obtain the items you want.
All that said, I have no doubt there is more anti-player sentiment coming from CCP because we constantly criticize their illogical, stupid, unwanted, surprise-butt-secks changes.

I’ve seen this as well. Employees are something dumb as dirt.
We closed an acquisition in Vermont for this same reason, ~40 people lost their jobs.

There were two partners that were owners. One wanted out. The second sold the company to a customer to buy her out and took the role of president. He did not like some of the changes and left. The developers that supported him, lined up new jobs, sabotaged the biggest client and left.
