Is EVE too complicated?

It was the complexity that drew us to the game.

We ran a BF 42 server for 2 yrs and drew in a lot of good players, at least half being actual combat Vets. (None of the rest of us asked what it was like and only listened to what they wanted to share.) The rest of us were well disciplined civilians who could obey orders without flinching, not run and go down with our ship. Back then, there was no CC’ing back into your loss. It was a actual loss. So you actually pay attn and defeat your enemy even if it was just by getting away and being able to thumb your nose at them in local! :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

New players missed so much and don’t want to experience it in the 1st place.

So, is EVE to complicated? Yes, for new players and no for older players who had to make a lot of effort to learn the game and now find it easy?

Here is a hint, train for ships you want to use. Then they will be worth your time and not a waste.

Of course currently CCP is on a path to constantly change ships so once our year long skill plan finishes, the intended target ship no longer exists. But that is again something CCP just need to stop doing.

Everyone already have eyes and spies everywhere, there is no further gleaming possible.

CCP deleted the structures from Sisi, no gleaming was possible. Except an error in the code was found that lead to gleaming on some details without the structure being present (I don’t know what exactly), but that is exactly what a test server is for, find errors that poor designers let slip through their design / development / test cycles.

The game is not complicated, it’s just big. Players think it’s complicated because they think they have to know everything, but they don’t.

Can someone explain how null sec works? I know there is no CONCORD and Sentry guns and normal gates you can use if there is a bubble but ansiblex gates you cant use. But can someone explain what workforce and power is?

Alpha and Omega accounts also make the game complicated, specifically from the point of view of developing it. For example devs have to consider wether new content is available to alphas or not. A side effect of this stuff is that content might seem non challenging/rewarding for Omegass because it has to be doable by Alphas.

Not really. Alphas just can’t pilot the best ships, acquire the same skills or wield the same influence as Omegas. Which is only fair - they’re not paying for a subscription.

Everyone used to have the same subscription. Wasn’t my idea to change it.
