Jump clones are almost pointless

I used to save ±20 mins of jumping gates during SOE epic arc with the help of empty jumpclone seeded in specific station.

Indy guys can also fly battleships they make to the trade hub in an empty clone and then kill themselves back to the factory for another run.

Haulers are almost pointless because if you don’t have to haul larger volume then they’re just slow cumbersome ships, what’s even the point.

etc etc etc. In short, stop posting dumb stuff.

two accounts, both have pvp clones, mining clones, mission running clones, market trade / chillax clones, each with implants to assist in what i want to do.

you are proven wrong

I don’t use implants, I don’t use jump clones. I imagine they hold some value to the people who do that sort of thing.

Mine safe :pick:

Implants makes fitting ships easier or enhances them significantly.

There are several implants for mining and refining alone and also related industry areas like production and blueprints.
If you intentionally avoid that added income as a miner, then i really don’t know what to tell you.

I don’t rat or mine therefore ratting and mining are pointless. Just ask people how they use them if you are curious and before dismissing them.

At most I will use a booster, losing an expensive implant seems like such waste to me.

Mine safe :pick:

Guess what we have jump clones for. After you are done with your e.g refinery or manufacturing or other business, you jump out. Or you jump from region to region or 0.0 to highsec to do business elsewhere without losing your implants on the travel.

I hope the rest of the game is easy enough for you if you can’t draw this simple connection?

Like someone walking up to you to volunteer that they don’t use banks, they just stuff all their cash under the mattress.

What can you even do with this, apart from smile and nod?

I thought the mining yield implant was pretty expensive and the mining range set not really worth it to me.

However the refining implant and mining foreman mindlink implant are definitely worth it.

It really depends on what mining and refining you actually do. There are also implants for ice mining and gas harvesting, enhanced yield in roid mining aside from michi’s and of course the drone mining implants.

I am too lazy to calculate it, but i guess you just cut your possible income in half by not using implants - which also is fine for me…not everyone can be spacerich…but the last comments sounded like that people don’t even know those things exist.

It rather all sounds like “i am not using Modulated Strip Miner II because of the bad attributes” while not knowing that they can fit mining crystals. Or the opposite…using “Strip Miner IIs” because of the name and not knowing that they can fit mining crystals.

By not using an implant that boosts yield by 5% you’re not ‘cutting possible income in half’ though. Losing out a 5% bonus means you’re operating at 95.2% capacity, not 50%.

And yes, Michi’s Excavation Augmentor was what I had in mind, 5% yield for 3.4 billion ISK, in other words you need to mine 68 billion ISK worth of ORE with that implant before losing the implant for it to be worth the investment. Not really my kind of implant.

The other 5% mining yield implant (‘highwall’) is worth it. Thanks for reminding me to get a new one, I lost the previous implant.

Thanks, you made me remember this one

You can’t lose an implant in a clone that never undocks from a station.

On an adjacent note, someone needs to do some PSAs about how everyone should be using abyssals, too. They don’t have to be fancy; bulk roll T2 with cheap decayed or gravid mutas and you will get cheap upgrades.

I like the residue-free ORE miners though, which get expensive fast if you roll them.

But for T2 mining equipment you’re right!

See this is why we need Fighting-in-stations, the expansion to that walking in stations thing that died.

Perhaps I can relate an experience from years ago to show why, even if some people don’t use jump clones, it is still extremely important for Eve overall. I used to help manage and run a small/medium sized corporation.

New players usually wanted to train as fast as possible to get to the good stuff, so most of them decided to get implants. Which makes sense.

They were new to the game, so they also wanted to try out as many different activities as possible. Everything looked exciting to them. And they wanted to see what they liked, and what they didn’t. Some of it was in low sec, nul sec, or wormholes.

Not surprising the question they usually asked was: How can they reduce losses if they exploded?

For their ships there is insurance. For their implants there is jump clones. Simple.

Myself and others in leadership grinded standings until the corp had a high enough average standing so that all members had access to jump clones. (this was before citadels, back when you needed +8 standings with NPC corps) It was a lot of work, but the difference it made to new players was huge! It meant they could use jump clones as soon as they trained the skill.

Because they could keep their implants safe and get ship insurance, they did not worry so much about taking risks. They had tons of fun with many different things, weekly pvp roams etc. Having jump clones opened up their horizons, they could see and experience a lot more in Eve, and have lots more fun and enjoyment. If there was no jump clones a lot of those people would have been too worried to take risks and would have missed out on making lots of fun memories.

Even if some people don’t use jump clones, there are a lot of others (a lot more) that actually use them often and find it valuable.

PS - In the thread you say you use jump clones, but in the OP you say they are pointless. Am I missing something, or doesn’t that make the OP a bit pointless?
