Legion Expansion

just another null sec expansion that will amount to nothing except more status quo, more stagnation, more resistance against proper change

who the hell need double doomsday damage ? the guy that spin it all day long ?

i have played eve since 2003 and never lived in highsec so i have no idea about the economics of it. but saying it’ll never happen to a vague announcement is a bit disingenous as noone knows how this crap will be introduced yet

What vague statement? There were two exact examples of how will gankers abuse this new system.

  1. Scam them into come to specific system belt/moon to mine and then gank them.

Well gankers could already hire peoples to mine their moon and then gank them if they wanted. But they don!t bother doing that, it is pointless they have plenty of targets if they want to. Space is full of miners that nobody ganks these days, there is absolutely no need to make some elaborate scams to force random miners come to specific belt/moon and then come gank them.

  1. Pay gankers to kill random neutral miners mining your moon.

Again, could be done already and I actually was asked for this twice. But it never happened. Gankers are not mercenaries, we don’t do such contracts as we can gank more profitable stuff that some, probably mega tanky, retrievers mining someone else’s moon. Usually 20+jumps from our staging system. And mercenaries aren’t gankers, they won’t gank non-wardeccable pilots for you either.

So yes. I am quite confident, that this will never happen. It is possible to do already, there is no GUI for that, but one could contact miners directly in local/private message. Yet no gankers are doing that. Having a GUI for this content won’t change a thing even if this system even allows to setup something like the example 2 which I doubt.

Assuming you can ā€œaffordā€ them. Remember that ganking is about turning a profit. Also:

  1. You need to be in a corporation. No individual player projects.
  2. You need to have a rented office where the projects will be advertised (visibility of 5 jumps).

And there’s no guarantee that they actually do it. They could just take the project and run the clock out on it…

Other than the ā€œrevengeā€ aspect, I don’t get how these benefit or profit any high-sec corporations since there’s no ADM or FW gains. Unless it’s used as a recruiting tool, but your project has to also compete against all the null-sec offerings.

There’s also no interesting freelance projects like providing escort, assisting players, hiring mercenaries for defense, etc.

What is this you speak of?

He’s talking about the Triglavian Marauder that has been announced in the Legion Expansion.

I’m definitely getting one - I’m just not sure where I’ll be able to best utilize it. Personally, I wish it had a second entropic disintegrator, one more high slot and lower spool-up damage.

Are there any stats or images?

I mean if that happens it happens, i would rather see EVE slowly die than to cut off the parts that made it great in the first place, there is only so much catering towards the low IQ generation you can do before the game essentially stops being EVE Online anymore

Not every game needs to appeal to everyone and if it means EVE has to pass away for CCP to focus on making something else then so be it, i understand the game is niche and if CCP were to announce the game was sunsetting i would stand there proud of what they had achieved up until that point alongside them right until the very end

Watching the game slowly lose its original identity isn’t fun for anyone other than the beancounters who care about nothing other than profit

Thanks! I’m a big fan of Marauders.

I have my Golem to Level V Mastery.

Something tells me I would have a long way to go with that ship.

Yeah, it has bonuses of +37.5% range, +37.5% tracking and +100% spoolup damage. Plus the +50% RoF and +25% optimal range through Bastion (don’t think the falloff bonus yields anything). 250m3 for drones, same remote rep, smartbomb damages and slot layout as the Leshak.

Personally, I’d rather have seen more initial damage (like +25-50%) and a lower maximum spool damage, or something like a +100% bonus to armor plates to make it a bit more unique outside of structure bashing.

They also should’ve given it + more utility high.

I’ve readjusted my game to shields…My genetically altered new Main is a Shield God and an Armor Toad".

Well, Triglavian ships are armor-based (sorry)…

Absolutely—and given the Triglavian Collective’s continued expansion through Pochven and their reliance on armor and Entropic Disintegrators, it’s not unreasonable to speculate that EDENCOM or even the Jove Directorate might field a countermeasure soon.

A missile-based, shield-tanked Marauder-class vessel could be the perfect doctrinal foil—something designed for rapid deployment and high alpha against Triglavian fleets. With the Dread Guristas’ renewed activity and whispers of Jovian interference in Sleeper comms, who knows? We might just see a ā€œStorm Marauderā€ or ā€œZephyr-classā€ emerge, pushing the meta into uncharted space.

After all, CONCORD didn’t just hand over those tech secrets to EDENCOM to let them gather dust.

This. Most common sense post on this topic in a while.

Just go on the market anywhere and try buying materials for building that marauder.

Well, except for the fact it’s been said before, and often. And was wrong then, too.

Virtually all the ā€œold generationā€ of players who supposedly ā€˜made EVE great’ are still out there, gaming. They’re just choosing other games than EVE for it.

The ā€˜new generation’ of players don’t have any lower (or presumably, higher) IQs than the ā€˜old’ generation. They just have way, way more options than were available in 2003-2009.

EVE’s a niche product, sure, but the fact it’s drifting into an ever-less-relevant niche wormhole has a lot more to do with CCP’s lack of development than any supposed failings on the part of less ancient gamers. The ones who stuck with EVE are more about sunk cost fallacies than about their supposedly incredible intelligence and determination to play ā€˜hard’ games.

Speak for yourself. 19 years and counting here. I keep playing because I enjoy the game and there isn’t another one like it.
