Live Event Feedback: Lucky Clash

Just from personal experience, there are bugs, interactions, and not-quite-a-bug-but-damn-we-didn’t-mean-THAT-to-happen issues that only crop up when you have the code operating under full load, with the complete complexity of the live environment happening all around it, and thousands of people banging away on it. The more complex the code (not just this module, but all of it), the more those hidden interactions are likely to occur.

That makes perfect sense and I get that.

However, in my own experience, when someone has a BAD or UNDERWHELMING or PROBLEM-RIDDEN experience they tend to avoid it in the future.

This is multipled when they actually TRY IT AGAIN AND HAVE SAME BAD BUGGY EXPERIENCE.

Those players may not EVER GIVE the Agency a THIRD TRY after the 2 bad tastes left in their mouths as being Guinea Pigs for weeks.

FIRST AND SECOND IMPRESSIONS LAST A LIFE TIME

I totally agree. You’ll notice, there’s no ‘CCP’ in front of my name, either. It’s just a reality of the modern game industry that (especially for online content) production schedules aren’t set by the guys who actually do the production, and a lot of the time those schedules are simply unrealistic. That’s why games go live today that would’ve been seen as barely ready for beta test 25 years ago, when more of the upper levels of the industry was being run by the same nerds who coded the games.

Heck, Skyrim’s been out how long, and even the remastered ‘special edition’ has bugs. I’m not saying you shouldn’t expect better out of companies who rely on customer money to stay afloat. I’m not even saying that you shouldn’t make that very clear to them. You said you didn’t get why (sometimes mind-bogglingly) buggy code goes live. Well… that’s why. State of the Industry, 2017.

Not sure if it was worth releasing a half-baked (and bugged) thing and calling it an event. Felt more like beta-testing and I’d have no complaints if there was a big red “beta version” sign.

Some of you people need to chillax.

As far as events go, this wasn’t the greatest. But life goes on.

First result for “Here comes the Money”:

I knew full well that any early release of The Agency was going to be more of a beta test than a full release: I don’t understand why everyone has their panties up in a twist. This is how CCP works and does things. The test server does not have enough people on it to find all the errors and issues. Plus there is the whole thing where most things come to TQ and people come up with weird ways to break it.

I’m still in favor of LogLite, having an auto-submit/upload option. I’m logging on this info, but I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t bother with saving and uploading it to a google drive folder I made to share it with CCP. Wasn’t LogLite suppose to help with logging and caching whats going on? Why can’t it have an option to just upload that stuff?

I bet if you make the next event where it requires actual focused participation and not a bunch of stuff that gets done not because the person doing it was actively “participating”, but because it’s hard not to collect 1 million bounty when doing normal missions and real easy to have killed 10 while mining, yet wanted nothing to do with the actual event.

In other words, you can only claim it has more participation because you designed it where doing anything other than staying docked ensures you “complete” at least one objective and can thus be considered an “active participant”.

You’re rigging your own metrics.

Where’s the ‘then’ in that ‘if’? Because you’ve got a condition, but no result there. If [they make the next event where it blah blah blah, but because blah blah blah, yet blah blah blah]… ???

Fantastic point.

The devs of this event and trying to please “the people thst set the deadlines” or whatever manager this dev is referring to.

I guarantee if they check how many people ACTUALLY FLEW TO SERP BEACONS to do that event
Versus HOW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY FLEW TO LUCKY beacons

You would find a DRASTIC DROP IN PARTICIPATION

Lol ccp saying “look this even has higher participation! Our dev time is useful and deadline met tpo”

When freaking killing 1 rat while mining counts as “participating in the agency”

You realize we aren’t stupid ccpp

It’s simple. Make the next event only count objectives in event related deadspace pockets. Then tell us how that participation looks.

didnt they do that with rogue drones
and they were very popular
everyone was whining it was fun

This time around the sites were completed in 10 seconds and the loot was so trashy no1 was running them.
No one running= no one complaining about stolen loot and pvp.
OP success.

The funny thing is ccp hit a homerun with their very first attempt at these garbage events YEARS AGO with their very FIRST ONE.

BLOOD RAIDERS

Remember the accelators? The loot? The different rooms? The old plex drop? Good loot?

Everything possible was fantastic.

Then they have just FAILED AND CREATED GARBAGE EVENTS SINCE THEN.

JUST REDO THE 1ST ONE FROM YEARS AGO.
STOP WASTING DEV TIME AND CPPY PASTE THE OLD BLOOD RAIDER EVENT

Then get these devs working on something USEFUL LIKE AFK CLOAKING

Then go to the idiot that set the schedule and tell him/her releasing half baked content on TQ is really bad idea. It’s disrespectful for you.

Based on what? Jumping to beacon or completing the objectives? Because if I didn’t do the beacon I will still complete objectives, that what’s I do in EvE, shooting the rats. That is not participation. I will get the points anyway.

Still, what is the purpose of those events? More loggin? More people in space? PvP options? Still don’t know it why I would participate. Rewards are rather meh.

Same here. I do ratting and…I participate, I suppose. And as I don´t mine in 1.0-space…guess what…

Yup. This is a gameplay plague of 0.0 and WH multiboxers.

The Lucky Clash is over and it’s time to close this thread…
