Same here… I almost “completed” the event (if it wasn’t bugged and not count the npc’s last two days, I’d complete it) even though I gave up on participating…
It is funny I only did them when I randomly ran into the Casinos out and about doing my usual mission grind. I still got about 80% done with it.
I would say I am VERY casual in my play style lately. Maybe 3-4 hours a week.
The Event itself was easy which was quickly completed within 4 days.
Even if a couple of days were missed, there was still plenty of time to complete it.
Yes, the July event was the same. If you did half your tasks at like 4 PM, say, and the other half at 6 PM… and then the next day you logged in when only half the tasks were available again, did 'em… the other half would be randomly assigned, you could end up with some once that day as usual, some twice, and some none.
It could be nice as it was in your case but it could also be crappy (back in July, getting the combat signature one twice in one day and to a lesser degree, the BC one as I was doing the stuff in tengus mostly and thus had to reship to BCs). So I tended to try and get all my tasks done as close as possible too each other. And then not start the next day until all timers had reset. Which meant eventual task timing creep. 23 hours was not great, Bob. 22 hours was not much better, Bob.
ccpls, next event make it 20 hours at the MOST. 20 hours = 4 hours for people to take their time doing the event tasks and still be able to start them ALL at the same time the next day.
The agency tasks went away on Wednesday morning, but I was actually still finding Lucky Clash sites on Wednesday night, so… apparently not!
Yes, the first Blood Raider event was awesome. The second one was even better, though. Instead of one Abaddon skin, we got 50+ skins for every Amarr t1, navy, and t2 ship except the shuttle and Legion, IIRC. Truly epic (And they were the Cold Iron skins… nice and black).
Both Blood Raider events have been amongst the best events of all time. Guristas Hunt and Shadow of the Serpent also top 5.
I think making the challenges reset during down time would solve a lot of the database problems. Instead of unique timers to count for every people, you would have switches that you only have to reset to the default value. This whole extra database to calculate the timers is completely unnecessary, it would be easier for everyone including you if you would drop it.
Agree! I forget which game I encountered similar 20hrs reset mechanism and everyone I know playing the game hated it. Just make it daily reset and it will be easy for everyone and the server.
As a hobby programmer, I was wondering the same thing for the market too. Each market entry expiration is calculated to the second, is that really necessary?
I’ve read and will be closing the thread now. Here’s some points for the future.
- Contrary to popular belief, having challenges reset during downtime is not easier or quicker to implement than the cooldowns. My experience with coding tells me otherwise, but apparently with the way the system was initially set up, this is actually the case.
- We have some development time devoted to making challenges reset during downtime. Expect initial results around the October event.
- Based on feedback, we are adjusting the reward for the September event.
- Due to some creative time management, we have invested more time into the September site.
- UI update problem is still an issue, but is primarily a display issue. Yeah, I’m still confused about this one too, but smarter minds than me are working on fixing this.
- Some people would like feedback to be given more organically, I will not be creating a new thread for the next event. If it does not work better then we’ll come back to this method.
