Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

And that thing SUCKS, because ain’t nobody letting the other side win, the bigger chicken would just disengage if there’s a 1% chance to lose.

That’s what I mean. Not running back to home to hide just moving back to the chain exit to roll and find better targets.

Data said i m true :o:
Back few weeks ago : NGSA camp entire region. Guess what : less content for everyonne majority of player just stop play. Beacause they can"t know if it will be 1 player attack they or 200.
They just knwo they can’t regroup enought to be strong.

So basically you will have 3 scenario :
-People will leave game
-People will join an existent umbrella and more GRRRRR XXXX
People will form a new umbrella and GRRRR this new umbrella

In all case the change will make roma harder, with less viable target after the first week.

Lets see

  1. CCP sells SP for real money
  2. CCP stops ALL wars in 0.0 due to stupid unannounced drifter “invasion”
  3. CCP disables local chat in 0.0 that been working perfectly fine for last 15 years makint it just like WH space but much more unsafe

and all this in 1 month time wow

Hilmar want his prime to sell CCP. So he try the “fast money ion sort term and don’t care long term”.
Remimber he has some millions who wait his next financial statement of CCP.

Great,
nullsec, finally, for fun.
Almost as much fun , read dangerous, as Wormholes.
Finally nullsec Almost Dangerous.

This reply is not related with the WH alliance with the same name.

Null sec was and will be more dangerous than whormoles.
The only thing make you have impress NS is safe it’s beacause in NS know how to play in massive group.

You deserve to be hotdropped to hell when this goes live.
Oh well, you will be, if you think it’s possible, go ahead, undock your shinies, and start crying.

We do get hotdropped. A lot. But this happens: Sin | Lajity Jerry | Killmail | zKillboard.

Do we get killed from time to time? Absolutely. That is part of the game and if you can not accept that, I truly believe this game isn’t for you. On the above gank we already spotted the dropper coming into system and logging off in a safe spot.

What do you mean “may”?
This is eve, peeveepeener is the most risk-averse chicken in the world, it will not drop anything it is afraid he can’t reliably kill, so you will get dropped and killed.

It comes with the territory. If anything, if you don’t want drops and safe income, you should actually try wormholes. It isn’t perfect but with system control, eyes on wormholes and precautions, it is very hard for people to catch you. But in null, it is part of the ecosystem and I do not believe complaining about it will get you anywhere productive.

It is still much harder than pvp, which was the whole point.
And at that level, it’s probably not hard, but you’re probably dirt poor if you’re so much of a pleb.

PVE isn’t harder. It just requires a more expensive or comprehensive fit. Your statement also ignores the difficulty of hunting targets, directing fleets and to adapt to evolving situations in a battle. Most PVE pre-Triglavians are pre-scripted content that you can follow while semi-AFK. It isn’t difficult. It is different.

Locking out most of the time simply fails, and achieves nothing but feeding rollers. Yes, it does get rid of wormchickens faster, but doesn’t do any damage to them even if they do get locked out, they just run to the next hole. And that is the best case scenario, to make them run by feeding, worst is to lose a fleet, and both scenarios suck enough to pick not undocking as the best one.

I am sorry but if you’re unwilling to put your money on the line when out in space, you’re not ment for this game. From day one, the game is designed around the idea that “if you undock you consent to PVP” even if that is onesided or hurts. Defend your home, or head somewhere that doesn’t need defending.

I forget which eve-show I was watching, but it was mentioned that if the amount of ISK being generated in Delve is to be believed ( insert DTU picture ) then there are only 2 or 3 other areas in Eve that have the same potential revenue generation whilst still having a majority of space within jump range. Even if the other regions were to be developed, the Elephants don’t always fight each other, yet the grass always gets trampled wherever they roam.

I remember when Fozziesov was announced CCP said something like “Some groups have figured out the rules and have pretty much won Eve, so we’re changing the rules”.

Feels like this rule change needs a bit more thought, some depth and variation to the mechanic. Too much to ask?

Wrong. Even if there’s 1% chance to lose 1 ship and not kill anything, all wormhole groups I know would instantly disengage and wag their tail. The biggest chickens are probably the clown car, and I remember Inner Hell rolling into us a few years ago, seeing dreads, closing hole, rolling into us again 30 minutes later, no dreads this time but they’re like NOPE WE’RE AFRAID and roll again.
That’s the core of wormchicken play. They only come out in null IF and WHEN it’s 100% safe.

Okay,

So these people left the game because they couldn’t figure out how to beat a gatecamp on their own and rather than reaching out and finding a solution, they took the easy way out by stopping to play?

Frankly man, if that is the thing triggering them to leave EVE, I can only encourage it. This game needs people willing to take their space and defend it even against the odds. One way or another.

Does this mean you’re going to add the new structure “observatory” soon? That would be hella nice, who needs local anyways.

Musta missed something. Null has gates where you can post somebody several jumps ahead to warn yea? So it’s several times safer than wormholes where your always 10 seconds from death by sudden connection that showed up cause someone came through their side which spawned in your side and sig which happens dozens of times a day and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it

If we wanted to be in wh space we would have lived there instead of nullsec. This change will do nothing but stop players logging in, therefore stifling the “emersive pvp” you may have intended. EVE Online is supposed to be a sandbox game, yet you have just taken the sand and kicked us in the face with it. Not cool.

It isn’t a bad thing to ask. I am all for an iteration that would allow intel but balances it more.

Personally I believe that HS/LS should have “perfect” local, NS should have “no name in local until 5 seconds after gatecloak expires” and wormholes devoid of it all. It still allows plenty of intel but makes hunting more viable as well.

what are you talking about ccp got bought last year how much outside the loop are u jesus

Why does it need to be safe, you go there to make a lot of isk or pvp, safety is for highsec.

I cannot accept the game which is safe for enemy, but extremely risky for me. I’m not playing games to gamble against 1% odds of that killmail you’ve shown me, I want to keep at least 50:50 score, and against hotdrops, there’s no technique that will give you anything better than 1:99, which I find unacceptable.

“You are free target because you chose to be” argument, NOPE, it’s because of poor game mechanics that need to change.

none.

fight or flight instinct level spinal behavior. Hard!

Or to see when there’s dreaded 1% chance to lose a ship and not kill anything, at which point to run. HARD!

Difficulty is relative. Ganktarding is almost incomparably easier and can be done barely-conscious, not to mention semi-AFK.

I am all for putting my money against enemy money.
I am not putting $99 against $1, that’s what I’m again.

I am. The best defense is dock up and wait, because other options are undock and get enemy running or undock and get yourself killed, which achieves the same reward as not undocking at best, and a loss at worst, which makes not undocking the most rewarding option.
Maybe if risk/reward is equalized for defenders and ganktards, we can actually play the game!

Please logic proof your own post. Wormholes spawn, what the heck is camping a gate to watch going to do for that? Wormholes spawn dozens of times a day in sov space and as you put it, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. Now we’re watching gates AND rolling wormholes with no idea who is already through.

Null space has been balanced with the reality that people show up in local.

What serious 0.0 organisation does not have its members logged into coms to say 'hey, I’m over in 123-pdq and there’s a bunch of reds, trying to do blah-blah-blah, cyno is in position when response fleet is ready"?

In what universe does “oh, I can’t see the reds in local that are attacking this here citadel, guess I can’t cyno in the response fleet anymore, soz” happen?
